Great game, the world and mechanics were well made and I had some good fun catching babies. As many have pointed out the main problem was too much wait time for the pelican to appear, also a big indicator on where the next couple is would have helped. At least after the first one right next to the start of the game it wasn't clear where I was supposed to go, or even if had to go somewhere else after catching the first baby. Other than that I enjoyed the experience very much. Nice game

PS: I got perfect score and didn't drop any babies, also I had the idea that maybe you could fix wait time by making the pelican come in a certain fixed order and time forcing you to move across the map to quickly get there before the Pelican does, I feel it would add a lot to the experience, though you would have to clearly define maybe with a light from the sky or something were the next drop zone is.

Cracking Idea!  thanks for that.

Thanks for the feedback.  The pelicans are triggered by standing on the delivery pads so you can do it in any order.   But i like the idea of having to speed up to catch the next baby in the sequence.

I like your worldbuilding: in concept (delivering "bouncing" babies) and the environment of the city.  The gameplay is clear, but it is a little slow, lot of time waiting on the pelican. Might speed that up or add mini challenges. But the execution and mechanics are solid, nice sound. Love that you had options available to change settings. Unique way to do the scoreboard--very cool. Great representation with the parent y'all! And their reactions--the one Dad's reaction had me laughing. Solid game, might add some speed settings.

Thanks for the feedback.  a few people have mentioned the speed of the pelicans. I think it might be fun to have an overlay like an old VHS fast forward shown until the pelicans are near the target.

Good job on finishing the game.

Here's some suggestion:

The net is in a weird orientation when I grab it (using Oculus touch controllers btw), just doesn't feel natural. Also I believe the convention in VR games is to use the middle finger button instead of the index button to grab things.

The pelican should be make more obvious when it appears, like a glowing arrow or some sound effects pointing towards it or something similar. It also took a while to arrive and leave, I suggest increasing its speed, and only slows down when it approaches the drop off zone.

Really amazing idea!! Was funny to try to catch the baby falling! Sometimes i had to wait a bit before the prlican came with the baby, but i really enjoied it! Also really well made game for the environment!

Very funny game, good job guys!
Great art and animation choice!

Any chance of adding teleport, I can't play long without it...

Also I noticed that the net was at an awkward angle, I had to bend my wrist to make it level...

Fantastic game with a perfecting fitting art style, environment and concept. Especially like that sense of humor (pelican joke, bouncing babies) and this is probably the best ingame-environment-connected main menu I've ever saw.

I think that is a perfect fit for the jam's theme. If this is not a special delivery, then what is^^

There were just 2 little things (if you plan to continue maybe) :

  • It needs pretty long when you enter the target until the pelican arrives. Was especially at the very first delivery not sure, if I have to do somehing else or just wait... But maybe it's just because it's an pelican and no stork :-D
  • At some point ambience sound stopped. First thought it's maybe just not looping, but then later noticed, it seems just to be muted at some positions (e.g. in the whole area between 2nd and 3rd target)

thanks for the feedback.  I've several ideas to take the game forward and I'll fix those bugs.  glad you liked it.

Really nice concept and enjoyed playing this! I did feel like I was waiting a while for the babies to arrive, otherwise great job!

Developer

Glad you liked it, thanks!

Interesting concept and style. Pelicans are somewhat slow to arrive, nothing to do while waiting. Also sounds are like from busy city and actually the city appears quite still in background. Implementation is good anyway.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback, yeah i wanted the cars to move and to add pedestrians but the time ran out and i was fighting frame rates.  If the project is taken further i'll add more interest.

Excellently theme aligned.  The city was cool to walk around.  The models of the parents, baby, and characters were nice too.  I let the first baby bounce and i felt really bad, the rest I caught in nets.  It did get a bit boring waiting for the pelicans.  Maybe adding an element of frogger with traffic combined with the pelicans catching would be cool.  Could it be done in any order?  Very enjoyable experience.

Developer

I had on my list to make the cars move as added obstacles but ran out of time.  thanks for the feedback.

Funny prototype! It was a bit too long to wait for pelicans, I started to walk around on the last baby and I fell down through the building, but overall cool experience.

Very cool concept. Lighthearted game, I enjoyed it. Got a bit tired of waiting so long for each baby though.

Developer

yeah I did worry about the time the pelican takes.  ta for the feedback.

What a cool take on the theme! Complete opposite from what we had even though it's in the same vein of storks delivering babies. Nice use of text to speech AI! I think we'll see more and more of that in more gamejam games, its a great way to add a lot to your game. I especially loved the score flying above you in the hot air balloon! What a great concept to display a score in VR! Gonna have to yoink that idea for something of mine in the future.

Developer

Glad you liked it.  cheers for the feedback.

The Windows version throws "failed to load il2cpp" so I cannot run it.

Developer

Thanks for reporting that issue - it appears to be something to do with the zipping of the files.  I've added a new zip and tested that and it appears to be ok now. Cheers

I haven't played this but the screenshots look funny asf 5 STARS

This game is so cute! Also, the graphics are pretty well done. I just wish the stork was a little faster.

Children are gorgeous. Cool, original idea, but I'm not sure about this net for kids xd

I feel so bad when I miss the baby and it bounces on the ground 😔
