Definitely one of the most interesting concepts of the game jam!

Really good job! my only complain is that in the backer part the controls feel not responsive.
Great game, liked the art style and the music too. The movement on the foreground layer felt better than the back for some reason, but I won't fault it for that. It was fun, I'll try again later to grab all the flowers. Great work.
Thank you!
The reason it feels better is because that's the original movement implemented in the game. The second layer is further away - so the player covers less distance in the same time, tho moves exactly the same. It's confusing but that's part of the main mechanic of the game. I think I should have made the second layer the original, and the just move the player faster in the foreground. But I need to test that.

Good twist on the touch the spikes to progress idea. Could use some sound effects and maybe a telegraph as to where you will spawn on the other plane. Arrow section was the toughest section. Liked slight the blur effect.
I do get the comment about the spawn point quite a lot, so I might as well ask you for some more information.
You spawn on the same point in the X axis, just at the top of the screen. The reason I guess it isn't that obvious is because of the the parralax effect - but if that's the reason so I wouldn't change it.
Thank you <3
I guess it is the parallax effect. For me the respawn is more forward than I expect. Maybe have the spawning animation more eye catching but not too sure of the fix. I did eventually get accustomed to it.
Fascinating idea! The art was nice too. The control felt a little muted between the background and foreground which was a little confusing. The puzzles were generally fun but the timing stuff with the arrows got a little frustrating.
Loved the level design here. The concept was really cool as well. Although I felt that the the part where you continuously had arrows firing at you had its fire rate a little too high. The player's jump also felt a little too floaty at times though which made that segment go on for a little too long. Great that you had checkpoints though lol. It definitely fits the theme beautifully and is unique though and I enjoyed it none the less from start to end. Great job on this :)
Thank you!
I agree about the arrows, I was debating with myself about the fire rate and speed.. I think the speed is ok if I wouldn't have made the hardest part after it. It just makes it tedious. I will break this segment into 2 probably.
Appreciate the critique!
That's a nice idea, switching the layer!
Somehow it felt like the controls in the front layer were much better than in the back layer - I know there is supposed to be a distance and all, but I wish the controls would actually stay the same :D
Well done!
Stay funky,
Dez
First things first: Really cool game, I even played thorugh it, although it was difficult.
Criticism:
All in all one of the best games I played this jam. Gratz :)
Thank you for the kind words <3
Yea a lot of people pointed out the controls. I think most of it is due to the trail behind the player and the fact that the speed "changes" when you switch layers. It doesn't really change but the ground moves so the player moves slower. I actually like that it isn't exremely responsive in the far layer, but since a lot of people pointed that out I will try and play with it.
Yes I didn't have someone to playtest it for me and I'm a pretty hardcore platformer guy so it's hard to balance. Will do it for sure after the jam.
Thanks for the detailed critique, appreciate it.
Good game and the mechanic fits well to the theme. Art and music are also great. Well done!
Very polish and nice game! I love this paralax effect. I like the realisation of game topic.
Keep making games!
so far this is the only game I gave 5/5 in all categories. I love what you've done with the theme and the general mood and gameplay is awesome. Very creative. Congratulations!
<3 Appreciate it.
I think this is the first game I full marked.
The game is really fun to play, it's simple to understand but not too easy to get bored of, the visuals are really cool, the parallax effect is amazing and you made a mechanic out of that which i have never seen before! Feels very refreshing!
The music, ohhh, don't get me started, as I started getting close to the last petal I started jamming to this, I love it!
Theme is 100% respected and makes dying a core mechanic, this combined with the parallax effect makes it unique and creative.
You guys are insane. Flawless game.
Appreciate the kind words!

A really interesting concept, never seen a game where you swap parallax layers (at least that I can remember)! The level design is nice, too. :)
This is definitely one of my favourites I've seen in this jam! :D The concept is really interesting and fits the topic really well. I love the level designs, and the sound and visuals are great too!
Super interesting concept! Also really loved the graphics and sound! The game made me a little bit dizzy with its parallax effect and switching between two layers xD
Overall very polished and enjoyable experience. One of the most interesting entries so far :)
the concept is absolutely amazing, i loved it so much!
needs some working and playtesting: the player moves a little slow and the controls feel super awkward. but this is absolutely a game worth continuing after the jam so please do. the art is super nice, too
also, the music is a little annoying (maybe because it's too loud) but that's a very minor thing
Very very cool. I like the simplicity of it, the mood set by the music and the sunsetting, the easy of gameplay and at times challenging because of having to think in a different way on how you approach platforming. The bouncing to the top of the screen is a nice touch. This is probably intentionally as it feels like it is part of the design but, and maybe only because the main characters is a ball, I feel like my normal jumps should be a bit "bouncier"/higher. Very solid entry!
Wow, amazing experience! Awesome concept and execution.
A small nitpick is the platformer controller wasn't the most responsive but it was completely fine for a jam game, and the puzzles and levels that you came up with the complement the parallax mechanic were amazing.
Awesome pixel art and music as well!
Very Cool! The music was good, and the parallax effect was really nice to play around with.
i really liked two dimensional play, it reminded me Abe's Odyssey and switching between layers.
Really climatic background and pretty nice music.
Puzzles are well planned and gives much satisfaction.
Awesome job! ;)
