the sound, art, and music is all really cool. maybe give some more feedback tho with attacking and parrying, make it feel more impactful. very very cool game.

This game has so much style!! The sound, art, and extra effects gel together really well. Building up damage scaling and ult is really satisfying, but I do wish the rest of the gameplay leaned into the power fantasy a little more, maybe with some additional feedback when attacking and parrying. Great stuff overall, this is a really fun take on the theme.

Really fun and stylish twist on the survivors formula!

Awesome game. Music bops and attack animations are cleeaan!!

Developer

thank you!

Good game with good presentation. It feels like the basic sword attack is pointless and you always go with trying to max out the metre.

A good game jam submission!

I really liked the menus and the overall premise, it fit the theme pretty well! The movement and instructions were good!

I also like the Rainbow Orb! It was fun slashing through multiple enemies at once.

Things I'd tweak:

- Enemy spawning, I literally lost them for 5 minutes before they caught up to me.

- Enemies keep getting stuck on terrain, which is a great way to break them up but they get stuck there!

- I should slowly gain power over time instead just purple potions. They are definitely a big help, I just feel like that shouldn't be the only way I gain power. (Rainbow Orb included)

- I should be able to level up at anytime or at different levels. With how you guys have your leveling system I think the first option is better, lets me save up!

- Parrying doesn't seem useful at the moment, if certain enemies winded up powerful attacks that I could parry that would be cool. Maybe you could make Parrying your main method of gathering Power!

- Rolling needs to take you farther, pair it with a darksouls like parrying mechanic, and you got a nice Dark Souls Survivors sandwich!

Here's a cool concept you can experiment with:

Honestly, I think a great way to make this game feel unique would be having one giant version of those node stone in the center of the map (you can keep your leveling system with this), you can give the Node Dark energy to expand a circular border. You'd be able to reach cool points of interest this way as well as find loot.

Think of it sandwiching COD Zombies with Vampire Survivors.  You can make a variety of maps based on this idea with unique locations. As you expand though, you'd need smaller versions of the Node Stone to act as teleporters! That way you can manage large hordes and go back to the central node easy!

Add the Dark Souls rolling and Parrying recharge system and this game will have a unique feel to it!

Explore the idea and see what you come up with! Good job!

Developer

thanks for playing. perfect parrying actually is the main method of gaining power lol. but I like your other feedback will take it into account.

So this is really interesting take on a vampire survivors-esque type game, and I think it could easily be expanded on in a bigger game, but I think if the player is going to play a more proactive role in the combat instead of it being automatic it should give more feedback FX like; screen-shake when you get hit, enemies getting knocked back, and enemies leaving particles when they perish. I like the animations you used and they do convey timing, but it is still hard to judge when to parry without memorization. If you update the game I would adjust the timing of the frames so that they give very obvious and slow "anticipation" so it is clear when to press the button: One way to do this without adding frames of animation is going into the animation player and stretching the "anticipation" frame to play for a long period, and also changing the color of the sprite during this frame so the exact moment before the attack hits the player knows when to press parry. Still very cool, and you made this very quickly too!

Developer

thanks for the feedback, that is a very good idea about the animations.

Good mechanics, and i like sounds and musics

Submitted(+1)

Aesthetic and music are spot on! Love this concept of having to parry to replenish power. The attack animations could have been a bit more telegraphed but you still end up learning them anyway. Great job with the game and thank you!

Developer

thank you for the review! excited to check out diamond drive asap!

I spent a solid 3 minutes just playing the attack and parry sound effects to the beat of the music lol. Great vibe, the crt effect ties everything together really nicely

Submitted(+1)

Awesome aesthetics! Awesome music! Feeling the power is awesome! But I don't know how to parry most of the enemies. Awesome game!

Submitted(+1)

I'm really into this vibe. The music is phenomenal. Parrying is always fun to have in a game, even if I suck at it.

Developer

it is very hard do not worry, thanks for playing! I will check out your game tonight!

Submitted(+1)

Yeah if I understood how to time my parries better, this game would be even more fun than it already is! I could only figure out parrying the first enemies.

Developer(+1)

i’m happy you still had fun! be sure to check out the first post jam version where I update based on all the great feedback!

Submitted(+1)

Hitboxes are a bit strange but it's fun! I'm always so bad at timing parries cause I always do it pre-emptively. I like the music and art a lot as well. Cool game!

Developer

thank you for the review! Yea some hitboxes need some tweaking but happy you liked it

A Progressive Hack 'n' Slash Survival! ⚔️🔥

Fast-paced and fun, with a catchy soundtrack 🎶! Once you master the controls and get giga buff, the game becomes truly exhilarating. The graphics are solid, and the core idea of using parries to gain power is really cool. The sense of progression is satisfying and engaging, though it seems to slow down over time. And wiping out waves of enemies solo? Absolutely badass. 💥

That said, the difficulty feels quite high from the start, and when enemies pile up, the player can feel powerless if they aren’t well-prepared. ⚠️ Maybe nerfing power loss from enemy attacks or making it more gradual would help, as the risk-reward dynamic didn’t always feel worth it. Also, the game feel could be snappier, as the controls and feedback feel a bit rigid at times.

Still, this is a great game with a lot of potential! With some balancing tweaks and a stronger sense of impact, it could turn even better    in my opinion. Looking forward to future updates! 🚀🎮

Thank you! can’t wait to keep working on it and thanks for playing!

This is great, got to level 49, but so many different playstyles to explore, a fantastic job. Best game I played so far.

Developer(+1)

wow thank you so much for the praise! means a lot. yours was a joy too

Submitted(+1)

cool twist on the survivors-like genre, excited to see what future updates have in store!

Developer(+1)

thanks! very excited to update it and very excited to play your game today

Submitted(+1)

love the style. quite a great aesthetic. love the gameplay, the powertrip after parrying  is great!

Submitted(+1)

Game has great style.  I like the idea of parrying enemies to gain power, but the power drain after one attack often left me feeling like I was just waiting for an enemy to attack me so I could start playing again.  With a little bit of balancing I could see this becoming very addicting.

Developer

thanks for the feedback, I am excited to implement them and make it very addicting! your game was very fun too!

Submitted(+1)

Super fun game! I missed the first 5 min of my work meeting because I was too locked in haha.Music, Graphics, overall vibe, just all on point! Great job!

Developer(+1)

haha that’s the best compliment! happy you enjoyed it

Submitted(+1)

very neat game, wish there was a way to gain power off of the ranged enemies (unless i missed it), makes lategame pretty miserable. PPPmaxxing was my favorite build. Very nice sprites, enjoyable music and a satisfying gameplay loop. Good luck!

Developer

yea their timing is too punishing atm but if you parry right when the red circle spawns on you you will get power from it but it is very hard atm. thanks so much for playing! i’ll be sure to update after the jam
