How does your game represent "Power"?
I took the theme of Power in the direction of Soft Power a boss would have in a corporate settings. The game explores the mundane and almost trivial decisions a person in "Power" makes on a daily basis and how they have large real world affects. In this game you exercise your position of Power to progress the story while exploring some interesting characters and wacky scenarios. This game is mostly a Narrative so its not designed to punish the players decisions, it encourages you to explore. There is a LOT of different paths through the game, I don't think I have even personally seen them all. So make interesting choice and see some funny dialogue as a result!

And lastly thank you so much for hosting this jam. I have never made anything like this ever before. It was a massive amount of effort and I have a ton of pride in this game. Its been an absolute blast to work on, and I have already had a ton of amazing laughs with my friends play testing... Cheers and Love from Des Moines Iowa!

Only big nitpick is walking feels a little too stillted. Otherwise its a very interesting concept!

That was a chill, enjoyable experience. I liked the humor! And I am a fan of the aesthetics! The background as I moved... hypnotic...

And also, Beeg Yoshi!

Cool graphical style on this game

Wowzers! what a game! The monochrome, boxy art direction is very striking and perfect for the corporate setting. One of the most polished games in the jam I've seen. I feel like this concept could be expanded in a lot of different ways.

Maybe it's just because of the path I took but I thought for sure that I was going to have to memorize and keep track of a lot more names of coworkers kids, spouses, etc. Playing up the awkward situations of trying to remember lies you've told could make for a fun dynamic in a more expanded version.

I think it was a smart decision to have the story go completely off the rails. It makes the game more memorable and fun for what is such a relatively short experience. I definitely want to try it a few more times to see how other playthroughs can go.  I really liked the battle system at the end. It was unexpected, and maybe a little too easy, but I think the concept was great.

My main takeaway is that it left me wanting more!

This was a beeg surprise to me! Usually I don't care much for games where you mostly interact with npcs through text, but this was written very well and the days changing kept it exciting. Great graphics and interesting plot twist. Great job!

Awesome! Appreciate you taking the time to comment. Thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed the writing. Had a lot of fun with that

Big fan of this game. One really small thing I liked is the blobby animation in the background when the camera moves. I really like the fact that it's black and white, it adds to the tone a lot. Great visual style and writing, too. Fantastic job!

great stuff! multiple lines made me laugh out loud. funny premise, great writing, really clever

Tldr: good writing!
Day 2 is when it gets interesting!
You guys should expand on this game! So I left some feedback, too.
I'm sure Dunkey respects good writing, so your game might have a shot at being on the live stream for millions to see! Good luck!
Ps spoilers below. But not all of them cuz I couldn't get passed rainy day.

Good Writing:
- When you have the option to: praise this one employee, embarrass him, or fire him. IN FRONT OF HIS SON. And then, I told the son the risks of whatever-volatile stocks, and the kid says, "Oh. I have to tell Billy to undo someting." What does that mean??? Peaked my curiosity! But does this mean Billy's irresponsible? Maybe. But he's not a bad guy.

- And when you have to pick someone to fire, why isn't Rae an option? Hmm... Nepotism?

- And more little things!

Your team should expand on this game!
If you do, here's some feedback:
- add emotional expressions e.g. show the apathy, or anger, or nervousness in the employees' faces. Cuz I almost stopped playing after day 1 due to short attention span. But showing expressive faces and/or dynamic animations could get players hooked just long enough for when it gets good!
- make it visually easier to tell who's who. Cuz I was able to remember things about the characters, but not what they looked like, or their names. I didn't get past the clones part.
- it was unfair I didn't know facts about the workplace. So I had to guess. And the manager of an office would know about their employees. Unless they're a dirtbag, but that should only happen if a player decides to be a jerk, and not before they had a chance to choose.

Great game!

Honestly, the Thursday puzzle seemed easy to me... But I think I see the struggle some people might have had with it.

I can't claim I get it? It feels like there are some things going over my head with the themes here, but I enjoyed my time with it, going through the game once, and resisting the urge to fire Chet.

Beeg Yoshi is funny, and honestly the friday shift really surprised me - i assume i got kinda lucky in the final fight, even if it seemed like the boss was more likely to attack the same thing if they hit it.

This was real great! Probably the most unique game I played in the whole jam.

Developer

Wow! That is really kind. I appreciate that a lot

World's Best Boss.

This was great!  I had a lot of fun with it, and it was such a blast to go through and see people reference my choices.

I am Michal Scott.

But fr I loved playing this, very unique and the UI and pixel art are great.

I appreciate it! Your entry is fantastic, really happy you gave my game a try.

Really unique take on power!  Fun theming and a cool twist at the end.  Carl's section does depend on knowing the characters well enough, so an option to prevent players getting stuck there could be something like interacting with/inspecting their desks/typical areas to get some insights into who's normally there as well as their unique personality quirk.  Nice work!

Developer

I updated the game description to have a Character reference sheet that should help with the Thursday Puzzle. If you are still stuck the Answers can also now be found in the description. Hope you all can see Friday, I think its a really cool day and transforms the game quite a bit!

Also got stuck at the Carl section I'm afraid, but I love the concept and artstyle!

Submitted(+1)

really enjoyed the writing! unfortunately i'm too terrible at remembering names and got stuck at the 'carls' section. aesthetic was a vibe too.

Developer

That section does trip up a lot of people... There is another big twist at the end if you make it through. THANKS!
