Cool game, it has nice graphics and good music. I had a lot of fun! I think my biggest critique is that the game feel isn't very good. The sword swing animation looks a little more powerful than a gentle tap of the sword. It's not very easy to tell who's hitting who, especially with multiple allies and enemies in one place. The sound for hitting skeletons isn't very satisfying, I think I would've preferred a sound like the bones being broken.

Also, I felt like having a game over reset the entire game was a bit harsh (I didn't finish the game after having to reset twice, one from clipping out of bounds, the other from a game over). I encountered some buggy stuff (nothing too major), but here are some screenshots:

This house is floating

I can clip out of bounds here

I still really enjoyed this game, and would love to see you expand on it!

Developer(+1)

Thank you soo much for the review! Glad you enjoy at least some things. Too bad you couldn't finished it. It's not a hard game. I tried to make it simple so most players could be able to finish this version.

The bugs: yes... tons of them... That's what happened when you design the hole level in the last 30 minutes of the jam, with the clock ticking.
I run out of time and made the whole level in 15 minutes, so no chance to check for clipping and positioning. My bad :(

Hope you can retry the game to battle the dragon. It's not too hard ;)

I'll take all this things into consideration for the future update i'm planing to do. But as a solo dev with other projects on the run, can't promise when it will be release.

Anyway. Thanks again for playing!

Submitted(+1)

Wait, you made all that in 15 minutes! That's amazing! I'll try and see if I can beat the dragon, but I make no promises. I hope you continue work on this game, but if you decide to word on something else, that's totally fine :)

Submitted(+1)

So I was able to defeat the dragon! By...skipping past all the skeletons, abandoning my allies, and cheesing the dragon from the side...yeah, I'm not proud of it, but hey, it works.

Developer(+2)

Yes. I spend 5 days making, rigging and animating the models. Also coding and tweaking the combat system. Adding the particles system for the smoke and fire (which I've never used before) and composing the music and editing the Sfx....

Suddenly I realize I had just a few hours left and i didn't test the combat with the dragon and the knights. Didn't have any UI. And most important... didn't even had a level!
So at 7:15am (the deadline was 8:00 am local time) and after almost 24hours awake and the whole night coding and fixing bugs, I made THAT... which some considered a level :)

I'm very happy you've reached and defeated the dragon!

Submitted(+2)

Hey, a simple move around and slice game is nothing bad. The graphics are nice and identifiable, with the music being quite fitting. My response is that perhaps the combat is too simple. It's either you click left click until enemy dies or you let your teammates do the job. Other than that, well made game!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Yes, the combat was intended to be simple for this version. I want everyone could reach the dragon and finish the game. And of course, compared with your fast paced combat, this is like slow motion lol.
But I'm planing to change the difficult for the updated version. With different enemies, each one with a scaling difficult.

Thanks for the feedback :)

Submitted(+2)

cool game I liked its music , the graphics are nice and everything looks beautiful , there are some problems tho :

1 - i killed the dragon without doing anything i just let my friends kill it

2 - i can play with the health bar (move it with my mouse)

3 - you can see the ground texture repeating itself without smoothing and some houses are half not on the ground

still a good game and i was hooked to the game cause i wanted to see the dragon , and the game's image looks great

Developer(+1)

Thank. Glad you like the graphics :)

About the issues:
1 - Yes... extremely easy, forgot to rise the HP of the dragon, it was in "test mode".
2 - Hahahaha, I didn't see that one! I used a Slider UI and forgot to remove the event system.
3 - Yes, I made the procedural texture myself, and didn't had enough time to process and make it seemless at the edges. Houses and trees I added some of them 30 - 40 minutes before the deadline, so yes... there's definitely big issues I didn't had enough time to check.

Thanks again for the feedback. Will fix everything I can for the update!

Submitted(+2)

Lol! i really liked the graphics! the only thing is you put so much care in everything and used a basic texture for the ground.

I think the skeletons could have a little less health… i did the same mistake in my game :/

if you can, please it out too!

Developer(+2)

Thanks! Weird... the ground is not basic texture. I made it using procedural texture nodes in the shader editor (Blender), combining several noise textures with different scales and a few color ramps.

The idea of the skeletons was they were hard when you face them alone, and easier when confront them with your buddies. But I should have added a attack modifier to the weapons too (which I will in the update).

I've played and rated yours. Great game!

Submitted(+2)

Just amazing!!! I love the visuals and the animations. Coot that the meshrender disables when you stand behind a tree or a building.
I found a path in the woods but there was nothing?!? Did i miss something?

All in all great game, glad that i played it.

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much for you kind words! Makes me happy to read your comment.

The famous path in the woods... lol... no, it's just the result of constructing the forest in 15 minutes... 40 before the deadline and with a few things to do before compiling... at 7:20am after being awake all day and night  :)

But due lots of users discover it... I think it will be "a feature" in the next update.

Thanks again for your feedback.

Submitted(+2)

Nice game! I really like the combat system, it feels very intuitive and the animation for attacks is also great. As others have said, definitely set the music to loop. I also feel like the game is a little too easy, it's not hard to beat enemies by just going behind them and spam-clicking. Nonetheless, this was fun to play!

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much!
About the music, yes... as I mention before, forgot to tag the loop option :(
At first, when I try the skeletons, they look almost impossible, I think I lower they difficult too much. But for the Jam my only goal was everyone could manage to fight the dragon (which I too forgot to change it's "testing HP" and is extremely easy... my bad)

Thanks for the feedback!

Submitted(+1)

Cool game and nice music, but the music should be in loop, as it just stops and then the player just sits in silence (except for those nice skeleton hit sounds).

Developer(+1)

Hey! Thanks for the review! Yes, i forgot to mark the loop option on the Audio Source. While I was testing, the music never run on a full loop, so I missed that. I even wrote a second track, but didn't manage to render and add it in time.

I've played and rated your game. Great entry!

Submitted(+1)

Nice action game. I played two times, normal(defeating each enemy) and speedrun(rush boss).

There are a few potential improvement points base on the current development state I would like to suggest/ask:

  • Player
    • Jumping seems not necessary in this game? Or am I missing something?
      • You can consider adding some flying enemies and the player will need to jump attack to bring them down
    • What is the condition of recovering HP? Defeating enemies?
  • Ally knights
    • They walk too slow, they are hard to follow the player.
    • Not sure if they have their own HP bar?
  • Skeletons
    • Recovery time after being hit is too long, players can 1v1 them with no damage taken.
      • Like other action games, you can consider adding random invulnerable frames to them after being hit by few times.
    • The first attack attempt of the skeleton is a bit weird. Players will definitely being hit if they just walk toward the skeleton (I think most of the new players will do this lol). I have to lure its first attack every time.
    • They are just targeting the player if the player is within a certain area. This makes the player can just run around and let the ally do the damage.
  • Boss
    • IMO this boss is underpowered
    • Players can just sneak to its back and keep stabbing its butt until they win the game.
      • You can consider adding a tail attack to repel characters behind its back.
    • Since the boss will not turn around, the fire attack takes no effect to intimidate the players.
      • You can consider abling the boss to turn around and/or move around.
    • The trample attack does not deal any damage but only stunning the player.
      • You can consider making it deal damage to characters.

Overall, keep up the good work!

Developer

Thank you sooo much for your review! I'll definitely will add much of this improvement you suggest, some of them were in the original GDD, but run out of time for implementing, like the Jumping, there was gonna be platforms to solve mini puzzles to advance  or free allies. I even made the platform models, but was impossible for me to make it in time to design something interesting.
I design the level just 40 minutes before the deadline.

I'm redesigning some of the gameplay mechanics to make it more fun, based on the feedback i've recieved this last few days. And will sure add most of your suggestions.

Hope you can replay it when the update comes out.

Thanks again!

Submitted(+1)

This was a fun game! Small feedback on the graphics is that it would be worth putting in some time to define a style and make sure all the models, textures and shaders fit the same style, it would really spruce up your game.

If you're into cool visuals and narrative-driven games, check out and rate our game as well!

Developer

Hi. Thank you for the feedback! I'm planing to set a standard for the graphics in the future update. Most of the trees and houses are the "need to do some assets fast so I can see how the environment works", and due the lack of time, they stay that way, low poly and not so nice compared to the rest. But I'm planning to improve the existing ones and add new props, always keeping the low poly style, but with some nice textures and shaders.

Again, thank you very much for the feedback.

I've played and rated your game. Very nice experience.

Submitted(+1)

Good use of the jam theme. I liked the models and the music very fancy :) , but I think the music should be in loop. This dragon battle surprised me . It is a very good job, congratullations mate!

Developer

Thanks! Happy you like it!
I forgot to mark the loop option on the Audio Source of the music... my bad :(
Same with the dragon health... should be muuuuch higher than 50HP.
Hope to fix them and improve the gameplay in a future update.
Thanks again and congratulations on your game!

Submitted(+1)

Very nice models and music. My companions were immortal so when I got to the dragon they engaged him and killed without me even hiting him once :-)

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Glad you like them!
Yes, I run out of time to create a good health system for them. I had in mind to knock them and the player should heal them somehow. But barely manage to make everything works in time. Same with the dragon. It was in "dev testing HP", very low health.
The update will be much more interesting

You made a great game too!

Submitted(+1)

Looks like a promising game! Couldn’t find the green knight, though. Fighting mechanics need some work: right now you can just click the mouse fast and the skeletons barely can do any damage to you. I’d also suggest disabling depth blur - in my opinion it doesn’t add anything & just hurts the eyes a little. Apart from that, nice submission, good job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks!
Yes , definitely needs more balance in the combat system. The idea was to add a parry move (for both sides) to make the combats more interesting, but run out of time. The green knight is located east (right) of the first area, then continue east till you reach the dragon.

I'll take your suggestion into account. I made a list of every suggestion of each review I receive, so thank you for your feedback. Hope you can find the dragon!

I've tried your game... man... awesome! I rated and reviewed

Submitted(+1)

I wish there was some kind of reward when defeating monsters, as it's pointless to kill them at this state. But nice graphics and animation!

Developer

Thank you! There will be... it was originally planed, but run out of time to make a nice UI with some kind of score. Same with the enemies, there will be more after the jam.

Submitted(+1)

Really liked the look of this game. Great Blender work.  I just really wish I could move the camera around. The mechanic fit the theme perfectly!

Developer

Thank you very much! Glad you like the 3d models. I'll definitely have to do some camera movement due the high demand on it. At first I wanna make a 2.5D platformer, but as I'm playing The Witcher 3 (almost finish it) I give it a more 3D approach. So I guess it's correct to assume the camera should move and rotate.

Submitted(+1)

Good job,  it is actually very nice game. Models were very awesome, the whole game had nice atmosphere. I really think this games has potential, adding more variety in environment, plus some other types of enemies/allies (e.g. archers) would make this game even more appealing. Also I feel like camera is a bit not very comfortable, because it was pretty hard to know where to go at the beginning. Anyways, really great game, my suggestion is to improve it a bit and release as nice short game!

Developer

Thank you for the review. Yes, I'll continue with the project, even it wasn't the original plan. But I really like all the ideas I had (and run out of time to implement) and others that came along the road (like yours, some of them on my original GDD, but impossible to reach them on time)

I've played and rated yours. Nice job!

Submitted(+1)

Fun game, i really enjoyed skeleton sounds :D. I wish final boss were a bit harder but still got potential.

Hope you try and rate my game too.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Seems everyone likes that sound! Maybe one day I'll reveal the dark secret behind it.
Agreed with you. The dragon HP was the "test" HP, and because i run out of time for tuning, completely forgot to increase to a higher value.

I'm planing a future update with much better level design (not one done in 15 minutes like this one)
I played, rated and review your game. Great job!

Submitted(+1)

Very fun game. I like the 3d models you used. The boss didn't have that much abilities and it was very easy to kill but that complain is only minor and it didn't retract the enjoyability of the game. Fun game keep up the good work!

Developer

Thanks! Glad you like the models. I made all of them. The dragon has 3 different attacks, but I forgot to raise his HP before building and uploading, it's very easy and fast to kill. Has 50 HP when it should have at least 300,  if not more. Same with the NPC knights, that shouldn't be immortal as they are, but couldn't manage to implement the health and heal system for them in time.
I've played and reviewed your game. Really fun and well made too!

Submitted(+1)

Great game! I like the controls and the combat system. The boss was so cool. Good job :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Took me a lot of time to make the combat system feels interesting. Glad you like it.

Things I liked:

  • Nice DOF
  • Music
  • Cute art
  • Theme connection

Things I didn't like:

  • Could easily damage-lock enemies
  • No whoosh sound fx for sword swings
  • Could not cut down tress with sword
  • SoundFX were 2D, Not spatialized. (could hear a battle from 3+ screen away as if it were in front of me)
  • Stupid knights prioritize auto-target skeletons versus following me (even if I am 3+ screens away)
  • Boss didn't do anything until it was like 10% HP, then died fast when my dumb knight buddies finally caught up to me LOL

Closing:

Need a bit more info in UI, at least the number of knights to find would have been helpful. Um, I guess I got a "Victory" ending, but it wasn't very fulfilling at the end.

Random art/level design issues, like houses floating in air, able to get into the forest to the right of the boss (and almost get stuck in the far back of it).

Would have been nice to have some powerups/power moves as I got more knights or something, they were basically useless to me.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your extensive review. Really appreciate you took the time for giving all this feedback.
I saw your profile and see you have quite some experience, so it really mean a lot you wrote this review.

As many here, I run out of time for implementing a better UI, barely manage to upload the game before the deadline after 24hours of non stop working.

I guess that's the problem of working Solo on a game jam. But I had fun anyway.

I'll definitely mark this tips and observations as priority on the future update. Thank again.

Submitted(+1)

Nice! Was fun roaming around and watching my small army follow me lol. This was great, this game definitely has potential! Great game!

Developer

Thank for your kind words! Mean a lot :)
