I had a good time wit this. I really enjoyed the aesthetic kind of makes me think of a tron noir.

Good job :)

visuals are impressive and it will be great if you optimized it a little bit

Submitted(+2)

The visuals are perfect, and the 'gambling' mechanic to determine if you get the buff or the enemies do was very clever. I really liked how the player would turn into a highlighted silhouette when approaching things which would block them from view.

Developer

The silhouettes are probably one of the cooler more accessible options with Unity's Render Objects.

music was epic, but I couldn't play it was so laggy.  That might have been on my end though =(  basically made the game like a turn base XD I fought for level one pretty well despite that haha.  I try again tomorrow.

Developer

Ah, apologies. There's some graphical stuff cranked up for our shaders, shadows, and outlines and we didn't have time to implement a slider to lower those effects in game.

Submitted(+2)

This was a good time! I liked the fixed camera angle and the music was tight. Nice work!

Submitted(+2)

A great game! This is a challenging 2.5D game. I had to look at the shadows (but not the character) to aim/dodge bullets.

Submitted(+2)

Very fun game with great graphics and sound design. Got to 7th level. Isometric view is a little unusual, I think it makes judging distances while dodging a little too hard.

Death by exploding weapon. Really like the gambling coin mechanic, and the neon visuals really popped. Good job!

Submitted(+2)

Bullet hell with gambling. Good idea and enjoyable gameplay. First I didn't notice to use coins. Last time I've survived level 7 and exploding weapon has killed me :D It was fun

the game is epic, I loved the visuals, and the gameplay is smooth. yep keep going, mate!

Developer(+1)

Wow!
Thanks for playing our game!!

Good looking and stylistically coherent.

I really liked the clear contrasts between the black and white base with the neon colored shots.

I like how you interepreted and presented the theme, though it was not always clear to me what the negative consequence actually was (e.g. did "weapon exploded" make you take damage? If so it would have been nice with a more clear visual and auditory que) but all in all that was just a minor thing in an otherwise really solid game.

Well done!

Developer

Thanks for the play!!

Like what you said I really want to use some explode effect orexplode sfx when "weapon expload"
The feedback of things in overall are kinda bad TT

I really wish to have more time to updates the sfx or effects for overall feedbacks

One handed sniper rifle is my favorite!

Anyway, this is a great game. It is challenging yet not impossible and I love that you can boost your gambling odds with coins.

On the not-so-bright side, I am not used to the isometric style. It makes the game harder than it should. This is only my personal nitpick though.

Developer

Thanks for playing our game!

Will check there's more better way then the isometric style!

Saw you on discord!

Love the visuals, great integration of the theme. It plays really well too.

Sound needs some work though. Team up with some audio designers, there are plenty here searching for the next project

Developer(+1)

I actually developed a whole 3D audio system for the project in a day despite not touching audio before. And what did I do with it? By using a single audio clip of gun fire, I distorted it into twenty-or-so variations to use for each one of the guns. Yeahhhh... audio has never been one of my strong points.

But in the end it all worked out since @polymonic made some killer beats for us, allowing me to blast it over my budget attempt at doing SFX.

I've played it again to see what's going on. My constructive criticism here, i'm really trying to help:

You really need to zone in on the sound your next jam. I think it's like 50% of the feeling of the game.

The biggest issue here is that the background music was so loud, that none of other sounds came through. I'd set background to 0.2.

I've heard the shooting sounds, but barely, had to really concentrate on it. Other sounds or interactions i didn't hear at all. menu popping up, touching item. EVERYTHING needs a sound. opening, closing, turning. It takes a ridiculous amount of time to setup and to find right sounds, but when you do, it will make the game twice as good imho.

I like the isometric style and the artwork. Music was okay-ish. Now as for the idea of tossing a coin for a positive and negative effect...when I think of "Consequences" I think of "Player choice" rather than a straight-up gamble. A lucky player would just plain make it farther than an unlucky player. Still, solid overall.

Developer

If you think about it, the true "Consequence" is the crippling gambling addiction we developed along the way!

I  loved the isometric art style although sometimes I just walked into the walls lol. The music is perfect, and the enemies are balanced. My luck sucks however, I couldn't get the weapon change no matter what I tried :( . Good job!

Developer

Thanks for the play!!

I really like the art style. I also find your gambling mechanic to be interesting, but WOW my luck was bad 〒▽〒

Developer

Thanks for playing!

And with you luck next time lol

Very fun and well done. The game loop is cool as its twist of gamble. I would love to have a dash or have the character moved a little faster, and sometimes the angle kind of makes it harder to tell if you are safe. But that details aside the aesthetics and gameplay is very fun. Cool game!

Developer (2 edits)

Yeah, the dash was on our list, but the one developing our player controller fell ill near the start so we had to compromise. I'll probably return to it when I get back to polish things up.

Hey - when I play this game, performance chugs a ton (it's quite laggy). I've tried it on some other browsers, but I can't find a way to get it to play smoothly in browser.

I love what you did with the consequences system - it's unique because you see the percentages, you see the risk, and genuinely the effect is a consequence of the player's decision-making and risk-assessment. Great stuff!

I also love the style and feeling of the game with the 3d simplicity and cool bullets. If I could get it to play smoothly, I know I'd sink some time into this.

Developer(+1)

Hey Nico, the problem you're probably having is the result of us probably cranking up some quality settings along with the shaders that we've developed for this game. I've only tested on a few other devices and they all seem to work decently (abit slower on my older devices), so perhaps maybe it's somewhat driver related?

Submitted

Hey, thanks for the response - you're right! I took a look on a different machine and it works really well. Yee-haw!

Submitted(+1)

amazing game. I think it reignited my gambling addiction.

Developer

Thanks for the playing!
And sorry about the gambling addiction lol

Submitted(+1)

really nice game! The music, a mix of action and tension, helps set the mood for the gameplay. I also liked how you used the theme, with the consequences having percentages—very interesting. Congratulations

Developer

Thanks!!

polymonic made this really nice bgm that really fits with this game for us!
