Wow ! I can't believe you manage to put this level of polish in only 30 days ! That seems like a demo for fully completed game that you would go on my steam wishlist ! Good job !

Wow wow wow! I love how simple you think this game would be until you actually play it… great sound track, easy to navigate UI, and very intuitive systems. I would 100% love to see this game expanded to include a level select menu and a level editor. I see others have the same right click idea, and I agree with them - would like for right click to potentially be used as an eraser tool. Overall, outstanding game.
Thanks so much for the feedback Anders!
Like I said on the other comment, I'll definitely put in a Level Selector, and the eraser logic will be change. I originally design the game to be able to run on PC and on mobile, but I might just focus on a PC version first now and see how far I can bring it, this will be easier than making sure I support 2 control scheme.
I'm really glad you enjoyed the game, the praise I'm receiving for it so far is way more than I was hoping for!
No, you're not going to get me addicted to Factorio again. I won't let you!
Ah man, there's so much to like here. I dig the chill soundtrack so much. I want more tracks like this. You've got such a nice variety of machines here, the look is clean, the puzzles scale up well in difficulty and you're right on for the theme. The UI has some nice flourishes I noticed, like the scene change.
I'm going to nitpick a couple things now, mostly in the UI, so get ready. I suggest right-clicking allows me to drop a machine I'm holding, or the eraser. I think clicking on a machine should make it "stick" to my cursor so I can drop it that way if I prefer, right-click returning it to the tray in order to place belts. I think erasing a machine maybe shouldn't erase the belts too, but I'm not sure about that one. I'd like to be able to move already-placed buildings within the grid. I'd make the operation start running as soon as there's a belt path running from the start to all end goals, just for a satisfying little moment there. And I don't know if its compatible with your code base, but being able to make changes while the operation is running would be rad and help with clarity. I'd also change up the Level Complete screen so players can watch their glorious operation produce for a moment.
Okay, that's a lot of nitpicking, but only because I think you should develop this a little further and find the right platform to release it on. Find those Zachtronics players and make them your players! Well done, superb entry.
Come to the dark side... AGAIN !!!
Now imagine the same soudtrack, but the movement of the machines are all synchronized on the beat of the music. Isn't that just beautiful?Thank you so much for the thorough feedback, everyone is leaving me so much good ideas for improvements it's making me think they want this to succeed :D
I agree with your comment on the machine placement and eraser, I need to start building bigger levels and play around and test to see what feels best. I'll try out some of your ideas, like the contruction cancel or the way the erase shouldn't delete the conveyor under it.
For the machines running has soon has you place a conveyor or a machine, I feel like it's a little more complicated. It used to be like that early on in development, and it would make it so I could easily isolate a block I needed for a puzzle, do so transformation on it by adding and deleting machines and running it through, and then just completing the level, not really having solved anything. I guess I could make it so you need to have a certain amount of finish product reach the end before you win, but I felt like that added a little of a waiting time, and I wasn't sure how I felt about that.
I really like the idea of having the "Level Complete" be less intrusive and letting the player contemplate their creation, that's the whole reason I wanted to make this game to start with, to look at cool machines that do cool things!
Still, I'm really glad you enjoyed it, and I would definitely value your feedback before releasing future releases. You want to be a tester? Join my Discord :P Seriously tho, I'd like it very very much :)
I think having a limit of 3 (within a timer) to succeed wouldn't be so bad. Add some light-up circles, some nice ascending tones and a bit of animation/particles and it becomes something satisfying for the player to look forward to at level's end. As for exploiting the system to manipulate 3 blocks through in this way, well it may not be the developer intended solution and you'd have to design a liiittle to avoid cheesing, but if the player can really get three correct blocks through in this manner, then that'd be just another creative way of winning, eh? And probably pretty satisfying to pull off, or even for you to see.
However, speaking more grounded, I think if a player edits something in the machine while it's running, all the current blocks should simply *poof!* But it keeps running. An easy solution that solves your problem.
Drop a link to your Discord and I'll lurk in there, but truthfully I'm too busy with my own dev projects to hang out on Discord much these days, fair warning :)
Very cool. Simple, tricky, slick, snappy…. love it. You manage to balance the possibilties quite well. I was impressed on how many shapes I can build with so little space. awesome.
some minor points:
- I would love to have a macOs export…as I can’t play it in browser dues to the godot4 limitation.
- right-click could delete a block.
Thanks for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed!
Those are very valid points, someone in my Discord gave me the info to make a macOS build, I've just never done it before so I need to do some research, but I'll try to have it up this week. This is actually my first full game made in Godot, I'm new to it.
For the right click, it's on my list of quality of life improvements to make for the next release :D
Very fun puzzle game. Awesome slick art and relaxing music. I feel lucky to have played so many wonderful puzzle games in this jam.
I really like how you have to think about things like layering machines, or the directions of materials, or the order of how machines put things together.
Very well done!
Very impressive and very polished game. Love the conveyor belts and different modules. Reminds me of the game "Shapes" sort of . Definitely could see this becoming a steam game. easy
Great game. I believe has the potential to be a commercial game with this different mechanic.
It is a very polished and well made game, it's quite fun :) It kind of reminds me of Infinifactory, which has a similar premise of augmenting, arranging and combining blocks together to fit the shape needed. Your UI design is great, I really like your screen transition.
I've actually been thinking of adding a leaderboard similar to Infinifactory, with something like the number of machine you used and the least conveyor and such. But for simpler level, since there's only 1 solution, it doesn't really make sense. Would be nice to have something that brings the game out of the game in a nice competitive way tho.
And thanks for playing, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I'm an official block shop operator! Yeah!
All the levels were incredible, and level 16 was superb!
The only problems of the game are:
- The red/green choice that is not colorblind-friendly (I suggest blue/orange, or using symbols when possible).
- The missing right to erase (but you are already mobile-ready!).
But apart from these minor details, everything is perfect!
Best game of the jam for me so far, thank you!! :D
PS: We made a puzzle game too, I you want to take a look I will be honored.
It's a little hard to use symbol to represent something on the machine, the choice of going with pixel art as limited some of my visual capabilities. For the color themselves, I plan on releasing a future version that also incorporate some color blocks based puzzle, so I would definitely need to find a solution if I want to keep it colorblind-friendly. But I'm not sure how much that will be possible, I'll need to do some testing.
Thanks for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed!
Dang, this is very well thought out and polished! Excellent puzzle game. Started making my brain hurt at around level 11.
this was really fun and very well made! i kind of wish the tutorial/training was just part of the normal levels so each tool could be explored more deeply in several puzzles before introducing the next, but the way they combined was interesting and creatively designed! i really enjoyed this
Thanks! Other players also mentioned that the tutorial should be a little more force, I'm planning on revisiting it and maybe transforming it into a "gif showcase" of what can and can't be done, kinda like how Hexcell does it.
The combination of blocks will also get an upgrade, I'm planning on adding color block ,color mixing and so new type of machines, so that should add a lot of variety in the possible puzzles. I think the reception as been good enough to justify spending a little more time on it :)
Great game, I love the aesthetic. Factorio and Minedustry are some of my favorite games of all time, and I could definitely see the influence here. The puzzles were pretty hard, but fun and it felt really satisfying to solve them. Great entry, GG!
Thanks! I love Mindustry too! But I didn't even realized I took it as inspiration :P
I tried to make the level progression go slow, so that the level don't get too hard too fast, but I could certainly fit some more levels in there to make it even smoother. It does ramp up dramatically after level 8 or so.
I do plan on adding more mechanics, like colors and new machines, so I think that would also help make it feel like the levels ramp up more progressively, maybe :P
Anyway, thanks for playing :D
This puzzle is great, I spent a long time on some levels because it was a little confusing, but it was a lot of fun :P
Hey saw this one in the discord a few days before looked cool. Some suggestions (PC):
- I think I tried to instinctively do it from Factorio, but right clicking to delete conveyor belts could be a good QoL improvement rather than going to the eraser (I see you wanted this to be PC and Mobile from other comments so see why you didn't)
- Liked the presentation, the loading transitions are cool.
- I must be silly but even though the tutorial told me to drag and drop the machines it took me a while to understand haha. Maybe some sort of "blueprint" display when you drag one of the machines might help (before it snaps to the grid blueprint)? But I don't know.
Other than that I think this was well made and have rated accordingly :).
Thanks for the feedback!
The 2 main things you mentioned (right click to delete and drag and drop blueprint) were task that I had in my backlog. Unfortunatly, crunch being crunch, I had to prioritize and those were tosed out of my MVP. But I do plan on adding them in, since people seem to like the game and I still have a lot of ideas for more complex machines and different types of blocks.
Stay tuned for the Chromatic release!
Cool idea! At first, I didn't see the tutorial section, so I was really confused about what to do, so maybe that could be incorporated into the main game. Also placing the blocks was a little confusing because when I click on one, it reverted back to placing wires, compared to when I was using drag and drop, which seemed to work.
Yeah, some people did say the tutorial should be forced, so I'll try to incorporate that for a future release. The controls have been designed to work on both pc and mobile, so they aren't always the best for pc. I'm planning on adding hotkeys and maybe a different way to place the machines when you're playing from a pc.
Thabks for playing!
Shapez is a big inpiration! And Factorio! And Hexcell! Thanks for noticing.
If you reload the game you can start over from level 1, but eventually I'd like to have a level selector/navigator like you mentionned.
I do feel like machines could have a little more animation to them, like something unique that makes you differentiate between them, but that will also be for a future release.
