Very good, the game feels very polished!
I'm a sucker for anything with a grappling hook. Everything else is just icing on the cake. But like, you guys went and made an adorable and surprisingly challenging game out of it. I love the visuals, and the narration/ commentary is fun and actually adds quite a bit to the experience. One of my favorites so far!
I love this game. The grappling mechanic is really satisfying and adds a lot of action to the game. I also really like the graphic style, amazing job :)
I actually took every minute to enjoy that gem. This is one of the best game I've played in this Jam so far and you should be very proud of it. I have to admit that is was a little bit difficult for me in one or two parts, especially when you have to grab things when you're mid-air and then, in the same jump, go grab the next hook.
I don't want to express here the many strengths this game has, but my rating surely will. I've read that you had to cut out some features? I opened a topic for that in the Community section :) If you want, tell your experience in "The Features Cemetery ☠️"
Thank you for the praise and the feedback! The difficult does ramp up a little too harshly when you have to do extra maneuvers mid air. We definitely should have tweaked that.
I went ahead to your topic and shared how we had to Scale Down our game. :)
Thanks for playing the game. Cheers!
This game is super...duper. Didn't finish it cuz I'm playing with a track pad and that made it pretty difficult, but I love a good platformer and this is a good platformer.
Thank you for playing the game! There’s always the assist settings to somewhat balance out the lack of a mouse a little bit, should you want to revisit the game. Cheers!
Dripping with polish that is totally unnecessary for a game jam but really makes it shine. This was excellent. Difficult, but in the way that makes you feel rewarded when things are going smoothly. The voice acting and context specific death notes were such a great added bonus. Really great work, loved it.
I really liked the design and thought it was generally a lot of fun. This was really clever, especially for your first game.
The only tricky part was clicking on things to grapple on to while in midair due to the camera movement. Maybe a more generous length or some kind of lock would help that. I do like the momentum based physics though.
I got stuck at the part where you had to grapple multiple times in the air.
EDIT: From reading the other comments, it seems the game DOES have audio. For whatever reason, it won't play in Safari. I'll try in a few other browsers.
Again, great job!
Thank you for the feedback! Although it’s not our first game; we have a few under our belt now.
I’m sorry the audio didn’t work for you. We put in a lot of work in the voice acting, sounds, and dynamic music, so we are pretty proud of that aspect of the game. We don’t have Macs ourselves so we can’t directly test it, but we have seen our playtesting friends play the game on Safari and seen the audio work for them. I am not sure what would cause the audio to fail on your browser. :(
I do admit the difficult ramps up too much when you are required to make a multiple grapple shots while in the air. We should have gone back and tweaked the level design to be more friendly in terms of difficulty. However, I am hoping that the assist settings in the pause menu would be enough for some players if they need it.
Thanks again for your feedback and for playing the game!
WHAT?? There's dynamic music TOO?? I'll add this to my collection and try again. I don't get whythe audio didn't work. What engine was it built in? I think I had issues with all the games from this engine.
Hm, I thought I read somewhere on the page that it was your first game. Oh well, I'll check the settings again.
Thanks for pointing this out.
The game was built with Godot. The telltale sign of a Godot game is that gray loading bar in the black background. So do you have audio problems with other Godot games? Maybe try switching browsers when playing these games? That might help.
Wow. I loved every minute of this. You deserve 5 stars for the voice acting alone. Very, actually funny, I legitimately had to laugh. Mechanics were slick as hell. Characterization was cool and to the point. Motivation snappy, controls were intuitive, loved the theming, the cute fox, the environment art, the music, I can't complain at all here. Your game is getting one hell of a rating from me. Your game was so damn good it made me want to be friends with you.
Wow that’s very nice of you to say! Thank you so much for playing the game and taking the time to write to us!
Perfectly polished, astounding visuals, perfectly executed in general, 5* without a doubt
Very professional, I would pay for this :D
I aspire to reach this level <3 A game to be proud of!
Thank you so much for playing our game!
Oh no - something went wrong:
Error: Couldn't load project data at path ".". Is the .pck file missing?
If you've renamed the executable, the associated .pck file should also be renamed to match the executable's name (without the extension).
Oh no! This is the first time we hear about this issue. Sorry about that. It works on all the computers we have available to us. If you can give us more details, like what your operating system is, what browser you’re using, and if it happens again if you refresh the page, we can look into it.
Thanks for trying to play the game in any case.
I use Firefox on a Mac.
Fun gameplay. The mechanics were interesting and fun to master and the graphics were neat as well.
Excellent. Very great game. The voice acting makes it so great
11 m 23 s and 25 saves to reach the end ! I love your game it is really fun, the difficulty is well balanced and everything in your game from art to voice acting is really well done.
If it were a little longer we might think it's not a jam game! ^^ Really good job! :D
Thank you so much for the kind words! We had a bigger scope than the final version (optional side rooms that provide an extra challenge for more hardcore players. A lot of pizza-related voice lines…) but it turns out that this game was already pretty ambitious for us and for the time we had. I’m happy we were able to provide a complete experience. Thanks for playing the game!
Posting my time for reference: 7m 56s, 9 saves
I loved it, it had a perfect difficulty for a jam entry, was charming and felt nice to control. Maybe not the most innovative game idea, but it was perfectly executed!
This game will definitely be high in the ranking. Very well-crafted and with a lot of personality, congratulations
God damn this is good. Simple, to the point, knows what it wants to do and does it.
Loved the 'clever secret' dialogue btw, 10/10 haha.
Mild control issue: holding W and pressing space locks you in place (not a big deal just a little annoying).
Overall, very good game. Good work!
I am so happy someone found that extra bit of dialogue. There’s a lot of optional dialogue that not everyone will experience but I did wonder if anyone would have found the dialogue you found.
As far as the issue with W + Spacebar locking you in place: Unfortunately I cannot reproduce the issue. I can’t be certain, but perhaps this might be more of a hardware limitation; different keyboards allow for different max amounts of keys to be pressed at the same time. But that’s just a guess. Good to keep in mind for next time though, so I appreciate the feedback. Thanks for playing the game!
I found the narrative dialogue surprisingly compelling and effective at keeping me engaged during the more tricky sections. I did find that the forms of movement other than the grappling hook felt a bit loose, but perhaps that's intentional to encourage more use of the hook. This is definitely one of the best submissions I've played so far.
Thank you for the kind words! I do agree with you that the regular platforming could have used some more tweaking to get just right. The acceleration on the player is shared between the platforming and the grappling, and it prioritizes the feel of the grapple. Having the platforming be a little more independent could have made it feel less lose while maintaining the grapple movement as is. Thank you for the good feedback and for playing the game!
Can't really fault this game it was near perfect one feedback was it go hard fast with the grapple mechanics (might just be me) but very enjoyable either way.
Very nice simple looking yet professional pixel art style :)
Thank you for the feedback! The difficulty does seem to vary greatly between players. We tried to alleviate this by adding assist settings, but in the end, we should have tweaked the difficulty to be more gradual but we were running out of time. Thanks for playing!
Nice implementation of challenge reboots. Good animations and grappling action! Overall I enjoyed the game and made it through in about 12 minutes.
