Really fun dungeon crawler! I really liked the visuals and the gameplay quite a lot. A very polished and enjoyable experience, great work!
Wow! that was amazing. Definitely feels like a spiritual cousin to Wizard of Legend. The animations were fantastic the characters movements made me so happy. The enemies were all super cute and fun to fight, the bullet hell aspect was hard but never overwhelming. The SFX was absolutely unreal, from the weapon sounds being a mix of weird sounds from instrument notes to explosions, the subtle character tap with walk, the music rising with the boss fights, the fade out on hit. I've seen AAA games with less good sound design. Also the game is just beautiful from the lighting to the particle effects to the subtle camera stick and follow. The staves were all amazing and the variety is insane, I found like 5 but I suspect there are more? I have no idea how you got this all done in a month.
My only nitpick is it felt like the staff durability fell really fast and you couldn't swap back to an old staff or pick which staff was the 'lead' when picking up a new one (tho maybe there was and I missed it) which made exploring seem kind of punishing, especially if you had a really good staff. Though the variety of staves made it kind of worth it. Anyways, amazing game, fantastic core gameplay loop, amazing game making instincts, and so much content, this almost feels like a real game.
I feel this is definitely the best game I've made thus far, in part because, somewhat ironically, I wasn't being very ambitious. This gave me more time to polish the game and add more content. The staff durability system in general was absolutely a weak point of the game; in my opinion, it was the weakest.
Thank you so much for the extensive review and your kind words.
Cool game, feels really good. The audio is immaculate, good job :D
I worked hard on the audio, thanks. And thanks for playing.
Nice game ! Good finish quality, sound, animation & graphics. The gameplay is smooth. The difficulty is quickly challenging but it's enjoyable !
Thank you for playing. I'm glad you liked it.
That was awesome! The idea is simple, but the execution is so well done, that it's easy to forget I'm playing a jam game. The animations, the effects, the sounds and everything feels so smooth and polished. It just feels incredibly satisfying and sooooo smooth. Only thing I'm sad about is that there is no web version. I think a lot of people won't play this gem because they have to download it, which would be really disappointing given the game's quality. But I'm not even sure if this could run smoothly in a browser, so I absolutely understand it. Nice job on this!
To be honest I was just a bit lazy with the web version :/
Thanks for the review and thank you for the compliments, it means a lot. I'm glad you enjoyed the game so much.
This is a really good game !
-Art, camera movements and SFX feels very smooth.
-When i look at the pixel art of your game, it's like there are 2 differents style :
-A one with different shade of colors for textures and backgrounds and a simplier one with almost solid colors for the players, ennemies or even the fountain.
-From my standpoint, these two styles are not normally suited together, but the fact that you managed to put a smooth animation for almost every element, makes the whole graphics coherent from start to finish, and final result looks really great.
-The music and the SFX are really good. Modification of sounds like when you get hit really add to the action of the game.
-The gameplay is enjoyable, each area looks different which is nice (the 3rd one is really good), the lighting is well done, bosses are fun and details like the snowmen melting after being hit by fire is apreciable.
-I would say that the enemy projectiles can sometimes be difficult to see due to the large number of particles, particularly during the first boss encounter, but the overall is very good, for a month only it is really well done !
I agree with your feedback on the visuals; I added outlines to a number of things much later in development as it was hard to see things. Still, especially in the winter area, visibility can be an issue.
Thank you so much for the review.
Very cool. Sound design, vfx and polish everything is done on a very high level. Nice job!
Thank you.
You dropped a gem. Great work!
Thanks for the kind words.
Very well done. I loved the music and how the SFX were synchronized with the attacks. Great vibe.
Thanks. I'm happy you enjoyed it.
Amazing game. It feels so great. I want a full game with this style and game feel. Really great work 10/10:)
I worked a lot on the game feel. Thanks for playing and for the kind words.
Pretty cool entry! A neat roguelike, remind me of Enter the Gungeon in a lot of ways. Congrats on the polish you were able to make on the game!
Thanks for playing. Glad you enjoyed it. Enter the Gungeon was definitely a relevant inspiration.
First of all, I want to say that despite the simple visual style, the animations, music, lighting, and overall aesthetics created a very pleasant atmosphere. Even with a limited number of unique events and enemy types, playing with each new staff was incredibly engaging! The bosses were a great addition to the overall positive experience (the stump boss caught me off guard and nearly defeated me).
As for suggestions, I’d recommend tweaking the color of the health-restoring fountain a bit. On first encounter, I thought it was related to a lava boss—perhaps a softer shade of red or even green might work better. That said, this is one of the few jam games that kept me hooked for a long time! 😊
I was really unsure if people would be hesitant with the healing pool's color. A different look would definitely be a good idea; I was iffy about green because the hearts are red and I thought it might be itself a tad confusing.
Thank you so much for the kind words and feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed the game.
The game is really awesome, I love the visual effects. I can see how much effort has been put into this, well done.
Thank you.
Fantastic game! A really polished experience all around for a jam, and a genuinely fun little roguelike in its own right. I especially loved the sound and visual effects on all the different spells. Great work!
Thanks for playing and I'm glad you liked it so much.
