This game's art, music, and gameplay is all really great! And the monsters are spooky too. Great work!

we saw yhe progress of your game when you share it, I thought that was a wonderful style.

The only think as feedback, I didn´t understand the scare bar at the beginning, I saw it started growing when the door eat me, but then I suddenly lose, because I was too scary.

After that, I think this is a great game. Congratz

That was really fun! The mechanics are competent and polished. The monsters all have a clear pattern and method. The art and character design is exceedingly charming! The soundtrack is nice and spooky. All-around, just a great game!

That was a cool GBJAM 12 splash screen!

With all due respect, I'm not sure why the object opening sound rises in volume until it's quite too loud. Having it rise in pitch is a great indicator of progress; having it rise in volume is an obnoxious effect that messes up the audio balance. Also, the opening sound can stack on top of itself when opening multiple objects at once, making it even louder.

All-in-all, great work!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the great feedback!

As for the volume increase, that’s definitely not intended! Must be a bug in the code somewhere, thanks for pointing that out!

Wonderful! Congratulations! Seriously!

Art is spot on. Monsters all looks fantastic. Plays really well too. Nice work!

This is the scariest game I've played so far. Very good gameplay and in my opinion the difficulty is just right. The lamp mechanic is a good punish for people who are easily spooked like me. Very scary!!

Submitted

Really good game, I found it quite too easy (I kept my lamp always on), but for the first level it was fun and cute!!!

Submitted

This game was fun! I love the graphics and animations! Each monster was quirky and fun! And the gameplay worked very well and was quite fun. I managed to make quota and escape, and I look forward to what's to come in the future!

Amazing job!

Very cool game! Like a gb demake of Lethal Company. :) Almost got the $1000, but I was missing $25 and my lamp ran out D:

The multiple different monsters are very cool and I loved finding each one and understanding how they worked. Very solid game overall!

Hi Case, I remember you/your game from the "Ascend"-SpeedJam, which was almost perfect and you did a great job here as well!

The game feels pretty hard (or I am too bad) and I wasn't able to make it out despite trying a few times, but the basic mechanics are interesting and both visuals and audio are top notch. Some of the ghosts are proper creepy while still fitting the cute vibe of the game. Great entry!

Loved this one!! The monsters are really scary ngl :'D The only thing I wish for was that you could somehow at least "repel" the monsters when you use your lamp (like maybe in exchange of using more oil?).

Your game looks great. I like the gameplay, it  looks interesting. Furthermore , i like design of the monsters, in my opinion, they look great.

game looks so cute and charming, gameplay was pretty simple for how fun it is to just move around and loot stuff

You really nailed the SPOOK VIBES with this one! :)

Developer

Thanks, I’m glad you got a good spook or two!

Was excited to play this from seeing all the progress shots. Was worth the wait. The monsters design is great and the animations slick, only wish that that sleepy ghost would let me out of the locker.

Developer

Oh no! I must have skipped over this on my bugs to fix, damn! Thanks for the feedback!!

Really nice work. The only bad thing I can say is that maybe the game could be a little more difficult.

Developer

Thank you! Haha yeah, I always try balance jam games a little more over to the less “difficult” side (even though that is kinda hard from a developer point of view with limited outside testing) just so more people can enjoy without frustrations.

Submitted

Astonishing tbh, i was so inspired by seeing this game, i cant wait for next jam to do something better my own

Submitted

Wow I really liked that one, unique characters, a nice bouncy animation for walking around, very well done. I loved the music too, this was very well made, and it's interesting how you made use of multiple palettes for great effect. Great job!

Developer

Thank you so much! That palette switch was a last minute thing so I’m really glad that shone through!

Very well done game, great delivery on the theme, loved the soundtrack!

Developer(+1)

Thanks you, I had a blast with this jam’s theme. Gotta love an early spooky season!

Great one! It got me wetting my pants, well not literally, but yeah. The agony is there. Almost perfect, but one point in gameplay. Pressing the button too fast made my wrist hurt... Point for extra mappings. WASD and KL. Not that this is my thing, but I strongly believe d-pad on the left, buttons on the rights is part of the gameboy soul as well.

Developer(+1)

If you’re talking about pressing the buttons to open/break things, the action is to hold not mash. I realize this isn’t the clearest thing in the game though (if you skip over the objective screen before the run) so that’s my fault! Absolutely, I added WASD K/L and controller mappings just for that option, I personally use WASD K/L. :)

Submitted

Oh, press and hold. Nice. I used the WASD/KL as well ;-)
