Simply put, amazing. The sounds are great the animations as well.
Awesome game. loved the skull throwing mechanic, but didn't get what the blinking skull bonus was. Very punishing, but fun regardless
Thank you for your comment :) Yeah, probably we forgot to mention it anywhere. The "empowered" head deals 2 damage to enemies, instead of 1.
Yeah, I assumed something like that, but I probably only tested it against cats.
Great game. I love Decap Attack for Genesis and hoped for some more design explosions like yours
That was pretty neat, I had quite a bit of good old frustrating fun. Definitely reminded me of the good old days of games like Megaman and Metroid and how they were difficult, but felt good to progress in. I liked the damage and life mechanics too. I ended up surviving things because I caught my head, as well as really show that boss what for at the end eventually with a serious combo. Great game overall, I almost thought there was going to be more (and secretly was hoping it was so)
I like its fire head mechanics and the extra damage if you pick the skull right, I tried to keep the bonus as much as possible while trying to beat the game. I managed to kill the boss and rest in peace in the end. Nice little game.
Excellent game!! I absolutely LOVE the concept of the head being the source of damage and your health, really creative risk and reward system. Fantastic stuff!
Great jam entry! I managed to beat it despite the difficulty level. I thought the head projectile mechanic was fun and clever. The presentation of the game is really good as well. The main issue I had was placement & zoom. It was difficult to see where you would land and enemies that are approaching. Overall, this is a solid game!
Very cool mechanic and gameplay all around! I enjoyed the game a lot! definitely worth expanding
Very unique game, with great core mechanic. I was having really good time playing it!
I loved the final boss! The risk/reward of throwing your skull was interesting, and catching it in the air was really fun!
Such a cool game! The mechanic is awesome and it feels good to play. It's just way to hard/unforgiving for me or I'm simply too bad.
Head removing attack is a really cool idea! Though it was a little difficult to aim at first. Art, music and gameplay are nice as well.
Nice work!
Great job! The game immerses you in a retro vibe that engages all the player's senses: the map is captivating, the enemies are original and anything but predictable, and the music is immersive, perfectly capturing the mood of each moment. It made me "lose my head"! :)
The controls feel pretty good, and the art and music are nice! The game is a bit challenging and unforgiving though. Even the first enemy has quite some range and lightning fast reflexes. :D
I wish I could teleport to my head to just bypass enemies. :p
Such a great platformer with a cool mechanic. A bit nerve-wracking, but I had so much fun throwing the head around and catching it that I didn't give up until the end. Well done!
nice work. like the head throwing mechanic. art is nice. its a bit too unforgiving on the player for my tastes though!
It's a little hard, but I guess in a way that old games used to be. The head working as HP as well as a weapon seems like a nice idea, but it made me not want to fight, just run past enemies, because throwing it was making me too vulnerable. Anyway, it was a good game overall
We did noticed that, and thought about making peaceful run. But the time was not on our side.
I really like the mechanics of this game! The art is really good too. You picked a good color palette. I struggled with the hit boxes though. I would get killed by near misses. Plus, there were times where I just suddenly died, often after an enemy was killed, no projectiles around.
Happy that you like it, we struggled a lot with hit boxes. We will improve on them!!!
The Head throw mechanic was a lot of fun, and the level design was great. I even found an alternative path that led to where I was supposed to go. I’m not sure if one path was easier than the other, but it felt like it.
We knew that the game could be unforgiving so we try to make it easier to go in the right direction and not get lost, glad to hear that it worked!
I attacked the first enemy, and while the head was about to hit it, I got stabbed and insta-killed. :-)
But once I took my time I really enjoyed the enemy encounters. Cool mechanic, well executed.
Skull as weapon and health is just perfect! Really enjoyed how the different enemies force you vary your approach - the dogs rewarding quick reactions, the ranged enemies rewarding careful timing and positioning, with the final boss acting as a really nice test of skill to round off the experience.
Yes, to take down the boss you should have mastered all the other enemies. Happy that you liked it!
