A really tidy package, and that it actually runs on Gameboy only furthers it's soul.
I just wish the snails gave me a heads up when they were gonna respawn on the Boss stage. I got ambushed by them a few times.

this was so incredibly charming and i had a lot of fun! the art and music were both fantastic and worked really well for "gameboy soul". i didn't realize i had to keep hitting the enemies to get the tombstone up and soul released but it was really rewarding figuring that out + getting a hit on another enemy with it. fantastic job!!! i love chara :D
Great project!! I'm not familiar with the engine, but it looks and feels exactly like a gameboy game! It even freezes when there's too much stuff on the screen :D
A few things to mention:
Like other people said, killing a witch is just egh. Consider making her health 1/3 of what she has now.
One time on the bossfight a snail telefragged me (spawned inside the player character and killed him). Not too big of a deal, but almost ruined my playthrough.
Also not too big of a deal, but... Why snails? :D
It's good for a single screen game style, but i found the boss really tiresome, it really felt like it would never end
great intro ! Good pixel art and music !!
but...
How to go to the second stage ? i beated the 3 snail of the first one and then nothing happened... ^^"
The gameplay was addictive enough that I went to the end of the game. The boss was a bit hard, I still don’t know if it’s because she has a lot of HP (and there’s no hit animation), or because the hurtbox is tiny and most of my hits missed.
The GB soul is anyway extremely present.
I really enjoyed this. Really elegant way of doing a single screen arcade-style platformer. Thanks for the game!
That was fun! The setting, art, and character designs are exceedingly charming. The tombstone mechanic is really interesting; it might take a couple too many hits, but shooting old enemies up at new enemies is a genius mechanic for an arcade style game. I especially had fun with the boss! Great work!
Lots of fun to play! The Witches stars didn't hurt me, was that correct? Maybe reduce the amount of hits the witch takes to beet, and remove the collisions between the enemies, so they can't kill each other? (Although I used that to good effect to take out multiple...!) Other than that - a lot of fun to play! Very Gameboy! Going to play on GB hardware now too.
It looks good, plays well! I couldn’t beat the boss, maybe it’s a bug but maybe I couldn’t figure out why! Gotta love the spooky-silly context too hehe
In any case, great job!! that’d have been a great game to have back the days!
Can't get more authentic than a GB ROM, though this has a very modern feel to the platforming, with a simple but engaging loop. Very nicely done.
