Oh my god this game is amazing! The art and paper craft style is so charming and I especially love the building animations whenever you buy a stand. It also is a really cool interpretation of the theme plus it had that addictive tycoon quality where you exponentially increase in money over time which is a dopamine factory

Developer

Gotta nail that dopamine rush for sure! Thanks for the positive feedback and giving the game a play :D

I love this art style. Very unique in the jam. The animations of the items assembling look like they were a lot of work!

Developer

Thanks for giving it a play! The animation was fun, the rigging and cutout was a pain in behind 😂

Submitted

I really love the style, you made sketch drawings look amazing. The camera controls feel good and the animations are neat. I would really like to see this idea expanded on.

Developer

Thank you, appreciate your giving the game a try and the feedback!

Holy cow, I'm in love with this art style! I've wanted to make a sketchy, pen and paper style game for a long time. You found an excellent way to do that, and the animations are incredible. The unfolding one is especially top notch.

I'm unsure if my headset is just on the fritz or if there really is no audio, but if it's the latter, I hope you add some in the future that fits the aesthetic! And I agree with others that I kept wanting to use the mouse scroll wheel to zoom and right click to rotate the camera, but I saw you're already planning to add some more mouse control options.

Overall, great entry. I can't imagine you'll have any trouble making it through, so I hope you continue this game in the future! Maybe making it into an expanded management sim where the more of a crowd you amass, the more drivers show up, the bigger tracks you can get, etc.

Would also love to see something that's a consistent drain on resources to balance it, since it's fairly easy to max out your money.

Developer

Thanks for giving it a try and sharing these ideas! Indeed no sound, I need to give myself something to do in that area if sound is a future round category haha. I’m working on a little devlog where I go into my process over here, likely this weekend will be wrapped up.

Good ideas on draining features - so far have the idea of hiring additional drivers to be on the road, maybe the first one is like your cousin or something and does it for free but thereafter you need sufficient number of fans to warrant having another driver, maybe have some vendors that take commission on total output etc. And of course, ever-growing tiers of things to purchase and spend on.

i love the art style. I wish i could use the mouse a bit more to control however

Developer

Thanks for playing - and agreed! Will likely add the options to use scroll wheel for zoom, left click drag to translate and right click drag to rotate for future iterations.

Visuals are really nice ! Love the unfolding animation.

Very satisfying "builder-like" game :)

You probably already know how amazing it is reading all these comments, and I stand by each one of them :D

Just one thought, may be it is just my habit but I was trying to use mouse to zoom in/out and rotate...

Impressive all in all!

Thanks for giving it a try and the constructive feedback! That’s good feedback - I started off thinking/hoping I’d have controller (and maybe even mobile) support so I focussed on buttons for interaction, but the controller part didn’t even happen (and definitely not mobile ha). For future rounds, I’m thinking of switching to something that you can get by fully with the mouse with no buttons for players choosing to use a mouse. I nearly forgot about the scroll wheel so that’d be perfect. Cheers!

I REALLY love the pencil drawn look of this.  Great job on the art.

Developer

Much appreciated! I had a fun time doing something with actual pen and paper for the first time in ages 😁

Submitted

This was awesome, great artwork. I only wish there was a little more to it. Great work!

Developer

Let’s just say I was keeping my cards in hand for the future rounds on game mechanics ;) Thanks for giving it a play!

Submitted

Great art style. I left one little bench to remind me of my roots when I was making all that paper $

Developer

Gotta stay humble and remember where you started! Thanks for playing 😁

Submitted

I absolutely love this art style, you did an awesome job with it :)

You need to stop whatever you're doing and expand this game... I want more! It's so beautiful and awesome how you've designed this to be paper-like!!

Developer

Oh trust me, I’d love to stop whatever I’m doing to work on this … cuz what I’m doing right now is taxes 😂😵 Thanks for the positive feedback!

Submitted

I couldn't agree more :D

I really want to see more of this. I love this art style and smooth animations. Had me smiling all the way through

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much, glad it brought a smile to your day!

Lovely paper aesthetic! The folding the benches animation was sick! I liked how your placement of patches allowed me to build benches one after the other without needing to zoom out. This way, by the time I had selected the bench I wanted, the car had passed by, I had more money so I could click on the next patch and repeat. Also, the fact I could build on top of old benches allowed a statement of urbanisation. And once it had generated enough money, I could tone the audience down for the select few :D

Developer(+1)

Great to see you here, and thanks for giving it a try! Yes, that little ‘feature’ helped a lot during debugging. It’s hard speed-running a simulation based game XD Glad you enjoyed it, excited to see where your entry goes next too (I have no doubt you’ll be in the next round)

Submitted

Really impressed with the artwork as well as the ability to control the camera to see the artwork. It's also good how the money is green to stand out and who doesn't love seeing money going up and up

Developer(+1)

Exactly! Who wouldn’t want more money? :D Thanks for giving the entry a play

Submitted

Really great entry! Fits the theme really well and looks nice too.

Only nitpick would be the camera animations, losing control of the camera when the player clicks a build plot could maybe have been removed. But then again it brings us in close to enjoy the build animations themselves!

All around very enjoyable game. Great job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for giving it a play! Appreciate the feedback, and a totally fair one on camera moment. But you’re totally right, I put that in to make sure there was no chance nobody missed the animations up close, with that animation category being one of the judging criteria and not having many other effects going on heh.

Submitted

Super clean! i loved the animations. I really want to see you expand on this idea in round 2! great job

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Lots of ideas that are on the table for turning this into a more dynamic idle/engine building game that I hope make it to a reality :D

I love the hand drawn pencil art style. You pulled it off really well. Might be nice if there were some effects on the money counter in the upper left. And maybe some skid marks for the car. Overall really great.

Developer(+1)

Yes I went to town with my pen and printer scanner haha, glad you enjoyed it!

Very good idea on the money counter effect. On the car side, I originally was using this gamejam as a motivation to port my road generator tool to godot 4 (spoiler alert: that didn’t even fully happen), and along with that, using more dynamic car AI for steering and yeah things like skidding. Think: paying a salary to have multiple drivers, and chances of crashing in front of spectators to yield a multiplier on the Paper output, stuff like that.

All things that I hope to have more time for in future rounds!

Submitted

This was neat. Cohesive, pleasant and easygoing. The art style fit perfectly. Nice. I got to 355 spectators btw.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for giving it a play, and reaching so many spectators! It was actually from a playtester that I realized I accidentally supported “upgrading” a plot from one standtype to another, so there’s definitely an absolute number for the top spectator count

Developer(+1)

Ok just tried it myself now to find the theoretical max spectator count:

420, I swear that’s a total coincidence ahah
