Very simple project that probably could've used a bit more time in the oven. No audio besides background music that sounded a bit too loud for my ears, the potions were very difficult to see against the backgrounds of almost same colour + too small, some of the areas were extremely difficult to differentiate so I got stuck without knowing there was a wall.
The platforming feels tight! I agree with the feedback of some of the others though, it was sometimes hard to see my character with the background elements and I'd get stuck on things I didn't expect. It took me a few attempts to notice the potions were dropping and the game felt better to play once I saw them.
I'm curious, will you expand on this idea if you make it to Rd 2?
A good game, easy to grab but hard to master (as it should be.)
Platforming elements are good, I will only add more spawned objects to force players to risk it more. (a temporary or one-hit shield, and why not, a timer increase that you must dodge...)
Control feels really fluid. The visibility could be better, sometimes it's hard to distinguish decor from gameplay elements. Very solid entry !
Great game! The character feels great to control and wall jumping is well implemented. The pixel art looks good, I just wish the pixel size were consistent. Still a very solid game. Well done.
Thanks for playing! The art was a last minute addition acquired from https://aamatniekss.itch.io/free-pixelart-tileset-cute-forest. Just resized in the editor so that lead to the inconsistent pixel proportions. I will take your comments and try to improve in that area!
This is a sick game and a great idea. I don't know why I've never seen an arena style platforming survival game before but it works so well! I did have some trouble seeing potions like someone already mentioned but other than that the game is sick!
An idea that may be worth thinking on is giving an incentive for the player to move around the map more. Like maybe a pickup that reduces the timer or something... The potions do a decent job of this but I found that sometimes it was just better to chill in one spot of the arena and focus on dodging things there instead of continuing to move, but moving was the whole fun bit! IDK, just a thought I had. Great work though!
Appreciate the feedback! I do agree that I need to incentivize the player to move around more, potions sort of do that but they also come with a great deal of risk which is appears to not be weigh the risk/reward balance properly. The timer idea is a solid idea that I may end up implementing!
Sprites, Pixel art, mechanics and music! Superb!
I love the wall jump and music! and my highest score I got was 40-50 seconds left? It's hard to tell where the potions are in the heat of the moment. Maybe I would add a visual red arrow to the nearest potion from the player to help. Other than that, great job!
Great controls with all the cool platforming actions. Tough to keep dodging everything. Well done! One thing I would improve is the visibility of the potions.
Thanks for the feedback! The potions were the bane of my existence near the end as I created that asset first before getting a free tileset from https://aamatniekss.itch.io/free-pixelart-tileset-cute-forest, to use as background. Not a smart decision by me, but I plan to change the potion to be more visible if i continue to work on this.
Really fun game and played it multiple times, the character looks and moves really well and I love dodging everything, feels good. I think the best I got to was about 20 seconds left but not sure exactly as the timer disappeared. Everything is really good and only things I can think of that could make it better would be slightly more potions and a slightly slower wind speed at least to begin with
Thanks for the critiques! I believe I made this game just a bit too hard for the entry as a friend of mine was beating it too easily (although they are a hardcore gamer) and thus upped the spawnrates. Further updates would likely rebalance the difficulties and show you how far you got at the endscreen to improve player experience
That was really tough. Really enjoyed this one, though. Would like to see where you'd take this if you progress and decide you want to continue with this idea.
Thanks for the feedback! First steps for me would to adjust all the art to make visuals better, then maybe add on more bosses to gun for Boss Jam as well
