Looking for games to play below 40 ratings and preferably without 1 button/level/life/bullet type of mechanics. But where "only one" is really part of the core mechanic of the game.

If you want you can checkout ours where you play as a monk that is travelling through multiple levels at the same time: https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/463271

Edit: Thank you all for submitting your games! I'm finishing the remaining ones but won't play new requests anymore, sorry!

I am downloading yours to try it out but I think mine is a bit different take on the only one than others you might have seen https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/462278

Wow yours is great! I have 3 levels to go

The last ones are the most difficult, but you can press N to skip a level :p
Checked out yours too!

I and a friend of mine made this little puzzle game where you control the knight only! It's chess inspired, but kinda different!

I like Finding Nirvana! I nearly quit on the last level with three monks: it might have been better if you could see everyone at once like Save Me in 4D, but most of the levels were manageable while still somewhat thought-provoking.

Our game is at 9 ratings currently: https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/460871

It's a one-axis-of-control game so it's a little bit one-bullet-like? But it's not one-button: you have full forward/back control (and different max speeds forward and back, so you have a different, and often harder challenge coming back). I think the controls are very solid and fun. And if you're limited to a single path, at least they're goofy crazy curves. Some of the levels are probably too hard, but you can skip around with PageUp/PageDown or the gamepad shoulder buttons.

Thank you! Yeah we were thinking to show all the levels at the same time but that might make the game to easy. It works in "Save Me in 4D" because it's a platformer where you need that kind of feedback. While with our game it's more like some kind of memory game where you need to remember where all the monks are. But still something we can experiment with..

Your game is definitely an original take on the "1 dimension"-games, but very punishing levels indeed and often felt a bit random.

Yeah, it was mostly the last level of your game that was beyond my ability to track everything in my head. I was just about to break out the pencil and paper or give up when I finally figured out the strategy. The others were challenging but simple enough for me not to get too frustrated. But I also usually do pretty well at puzzle games. Maybe you could have an "easy" mode where you have a key to switch planes without actually moving. Or maybe you can do that, but it counts as a move so your score is worse?

As for Filament, yeah. Philippe did most of the level design, and he kept making levels that were fun for us but very difficult for new players. We have a farm, so Saturday and Sunday are usually work days for me and I didn't have anywhere near as much time as he did. I tried to make a few easier levels but mostly spent my time adding some bits of UI and visual feedback (things like the switching-between-levels code), which seemed more important at the time. Thanks for playing!

Don't worry our last levels are a bit random so quite hard to solve! Overall the puzzles needed better design but we didn't have much time for it. If we would continue on this game we would definitely make more easy levels first to get used to the mechanic. But having the ability to switch without really moving might be a good idea as well!

Filament was an original game nevertheless!

Hi!! I did this platformer where you have to survive as much as you can controlling only one platform.

The game right now is under 40 ratings, so I'd love more feedback.

Hope you like it! https://daniriwez.itch.io/platform-hell

Hi !

Enjoy slaying all the slimes and the four bosses. There's 20 levels. Can you beat'em all ?!

In this game you have only one bullet that you can pick up to shoot again !

Share your best time and the level that you reached.

Don't forget to rate ! Web is available ! Windows too ;)

I'm hoping to bring up the number of ratings a little bit before the end of the jam :)

Hello!

We checked out  your game, seriously, it's very good! Interesting concept, the puzzles were challenging, and we really liked the music art. Very unique result.
We also made a puzzle game, would you mind checking it out?
We would love some feedback

Thank you!

Interesting! We seem to have the same idea! Though we eventually choose to show only 1 level at a time. But the mechanics of the holes and walking against walls with 1 player is also the same. We didn't implement so many different mechanics though (like the ice sliding and portals) but mostly because it would make our game harder than it already is.

OveralI I really like the feel of yours and the levels are well designed!

Hi! We attempted to build a mini-Metroidvania!

We've gotten some really great reviews so far, so hopefully this counts!
And we had to come up with some clever mechanics to reinforce everything being on a single screen! I'd love to hear your thoughts! <3

MICROVANIA - A One Screen Mini-Metroidvania with a Twist!

 https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/462198

And a few notes to help you play it! (The Game Jam build has a few bugs and quality of life issues)

  • - It works with Keyboard OR Gamepad
  • - You can view the controls in the menu (Esc or Start)
  • - The Player has 3x Health but will be instantly killed by Dragon Fire
  • - If you die twice, you should close and reopen the game (it breaks more and more with each death)
  • - There are two Winning Endings (You Kill the Dragon, or You Give the Dragon What it's Looking for!?)
  • - There are 5 secret Gems hidden throughout the game if you can't find the last one, keep looking!

Well, it doesn't have your preferred mechanics, but if you'd like to try out mine that'd be great :). It's a platformer where the mechanic is essentially swapping your one light.

We made a game called One Nightstand where you have to escape a home. You get only one tool for escape - the light from the lamp on your nightstand. It is used to attack enemies and power up wall generators. It's also your main visibility tool as well as your battery. You die when the battery runs out.  Hope you enjoy
