This game has an insane level of polish for a jam game! The art and music were great, and the flashlight effect was particularly cool. The combat was satisfying and felt well-balanced. Well done!

Developer

Thank you tom for playing our game!

A really great game! The art style is simply fantastic, sounds and music are great as well.

I had one problem with the gameplay, though - very often the enemies started to shoot me while still being very far off-screen, making it difficult to not only defeat them, but even to evade their fire. I found the only way to survive long-term was to be constantly moving and firing, but for some reason sometimes my bullets destroyed enemy projectiles and sometimes they passed straight through them. I guess reducing enemy engagement range and moving the camera further away to give you more screen space would solve a lot of these problems.

Other than that, I had a lot of fun with this one. It looks stunning, I love the way lighting and shadows work. Great job! ;)

Developer

Thank you Lucas for playing! Yes, the sight range of the enemies is a bit far. I think proper level design may solve these kinds of issues, so that one does not have direct sight of enemies from afar. We had the dilemma where, enemies could either see you first OR you see them first. In the latter, you can easily snipe them off before they reacted. Thus we went with the former option.

That said, level design might just be the savior to this kind of dilemma. :)

Once again, thank you for playing! We appreciate it and thank you for the feedback!

Beautifully polished game, fun to go through, fun to play!

Developer

Thank you very much :)

Very good aesthetic! I felt like we could we some more data on the game, like health bar, if we are still far from the objectives, things like that! But otherwise it's good!

Developer

Good points, some feedback on health level and objective distance would be very helpful.

Really fun game! It looks stunning. So much polish for a 48-hour jam. Great job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much! We had a blast developing this game. We're glad you liked it!

Of course! We'd love your feedback on our game as well. SpaceBus

Thanks for playing! Much appreciated!

I really liked the art and what you did with the lights, But I wish the enemy detection ranges were a little bit smaller and there was a health bar or something. I also couldn't finish the game. Also, how did you get the enemies to detect you? I always have trouble with that.

Developer

The detection ranges were a little to far i agree. It's a little unfair when they can see you outside your periphery.
We made the detection with raycasting. It's good because we can differentiate what colliders it can see through.

Thank you for playing our game, shame you couldn't finnish it though. The ending is the best part 😉

How did you get the webGL to work?  I always have trouble with that.

Cool visual aesthetic but I found it difficult to see what was going on at times. There were a bit too many flickering lights and camera shake for me. I also wish there was some visual feedback to how much health you have. Gameplay is fun and sound and music were great.

Developer(+1)

The reactor AND the visual effects turned out to be "Out of control" hahaha. Thank you for playing and your feedback, we take it to heart for our next project.

Submitted

In that sense, you implemented the theme perfectly :D theme: 5/5

The feel of this game is amazing! I love the shifting light and the atmosphere it creates.

Developer

Thank you!

this game has aesthetic aatmosphere. only downside for me was too much of shaking effect when shooting. other than that the game is well made. good job!

Developer

Too easy to go too hard on the effects! Yeah, we'll definitely tone it down next time! Thanks for the feedback and we're glad you enjoyed our game!

Great job. Love the little details like the coloring on the bullets, the backpack, and the screen shake. Were you inspired by Nuclear Throne?

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Glad you like our game and the art style! :)
We did not draw inspiration from Nuclear Throne, but I do see similarities! However, that game is far more interesting. Much more variation and interesting gameplay :P

Well, they worked on that game for many, many years. I highly recommend Jan Willem Nijman's (from Vlambeer) talk on "The Art of Screen Shake" -- seems you have some of that down but it is still a great video to learn from. =)

The atmosphere at the start and the graphics were really cool. The generated levels are also impressive! With the ‘reactror meltdown’ story I expected the gameplay to be different from shooting but it was ok.

Developer

We had the ambition to populate the game and levels with some more variation of enemies, guns and possible small interactive challenges.
But in 48h we had to cut those corners. We made sure to complete the overall game before adding extras.
Thank you for playing!

The overall visuals are great, extra kudos on the character art, they were great. The player controls are really tight as. Overall great job!

Yes! The character/player controls are really important for a game! Thanks for playing our game! :D

Graphics are real nice actually. This definitely looks like a lot of polish went into it. Your use of post-processing was very nice. The atmosphere and sound effects were real nice as well. A nice game overall.Your artist is very talented :)

Developer

We're a team of two and my little brother did most artwork. Really nice work I agree! We put much focus on polish.

The graphics in this game are absolutely phenomenal. Loved it.

Developer

Thank you!

Wow, this art, the level of depth created with the pixel art is amazing! Really good job! Also this start screen pixel art factory is astonishing!

Developer

Hehe I put quite some effort into drawing it! My hand was hurting a bit from straining my wrist! :) I'm not used to drawing pixel art (untrained muscles). Glad you liked the art!

The level of polish astounds me

Developer

We always remind oueselves to keep focus on polishing the product. The last day of a jam is mostly polishing the experience and addressing bugs.

Submitted(+1)

Amazing art and sound, as well as a very high level of polish overall!

The screen-shake was a bit to much for me, and it gave me a hard time aiming.

Developer(+1)

We'll make sure to reduce overall screen shake for our next game. Additionally, we should also provide a way to turn off potentially disturbing effects. Thanks for trying out our game.
