I agree with the comparisons to the stanley parable, I love how it kept escalating. I did not expect to be playing the floor is lava with deadly clocks! Making the clocks more visible would be appreciated. The way the clocks and the chairs were kind of random was annoying, but I think that's kind of the charm. I dunno. Fun game.
Great game, very fun and original.
I absolutely love the concept, and the art is amazing - it reminds me of The Stanley Parable meets Baba is You.
My only complaint is that the game is too hard, I spent a half hour and like 200 attempts to get through it, and I don't feel like that was the intention of the game. Once it gets to the part where the floor is lava and clocks are lethal, I just couldn't make the jumps - it took me probably a hundred tries to make that jump to the vent for the first time, and then I died trying to jump to the desk. Adding a checkpoint when you rip the floor is lava contract would have helped me so much, and also making the jump a little more forgiving would have been great.
Also maybe I just have dumb fingers, I dunno
Without the ability to properly test the game with other people it can be hard for us to judge the difficulty when we think it is easy so it is safe to say you probably don't have dumb fingers haha
Yeah, I completely feel you on that, haha! There truly isn't enough time to playtest in a 48 hour jam, so I definitely don't hold it against you that there was one jump that was much harder to execute than the rest of the game!
Overall, I think this game is absolutely brilliant, I'd pay full price for a full length version.
Thank you so much for the kind words!
For what it's worth, you aren't supposed to jump to the vent, you're supposed to open the filing cabinets underneath in order to climb up. Haha.
That being said, the level design likely should have been set up in a such a way that it is extremely clear that it is impossible to jump there at all.
Ah, that makes sense!
I was eventually able to make the jump (I think I got a little extra run-up length from a chair), and every time I missed I felt like I was just barely not making it, but using the filing cabinets makes sense. After I got the filing cabinet opening ability, I went and opened every single cabinet, looking for stuff, but didn't find anything - and then I died of the heart attack because I think I missed the rescheduled death contract the first time around. So I filed off opening cabinets in my mind as "only used for getting that one contract" and completely forgot about the ability, haha!
This game was awesome! It reminded me very much of the Stanely Parable. The contracts were clever, and you had me looking in all the drawers to try to find hidden items. Very fun!
This game gave me crippling motion sickness, but was good enough that I tried to continue anyway... I unlocked crouching but never figured out how to use it (motion sickness will do that to you...) wish I could have finished it. The white board notes were great environmental storytelling.
I am so sorry to hear you got motion sickness! I hope you feel better soon!
Thanks, I just had to lie down for a bit... something about the way some of the 3D games are set up just really triggers it for me.
Do you know if there a solvable reason it gave you motion sickness? My only thought is it could have been the fps, low spec version may help! I would love to look into this to make the game more playable for everyone :)
An interesting concept, and I like how the stakes keep rising with each contract you destroy. I wish the default sensitivity was lower though (I had to lower my mouse DPI just to be able to play the game). Also, adding audio to the game (such as beeps coming from the instakill clocks) and music would help build the tension even more as you get closer to the death time.
Well done! I enjoyed the atmosphere of the game and the style of the graphics. Overall I had fun playing and think this is a great entry to the jam!
This is amazing. I spent far longer than I'd care to admit on it. I really love it. Very well done. One thing I'd suggest is have the clocks emit a slight hum when you get close to let you know you are near one, I died so many times from a clock just slowly rotating into my head.
It is a weird idea, just perfect for a game jam :)
Reminded me of Stanley Parable. Loved the way you used the theme of the game jam. Nice work!
It was weird, but fun! Good work!
Really nice concept, takes nicely on the theme ! Weird atmosphere also, but in a very good way !
This game is really weird. It was fun, until clock became so dangerous. Maybe not instakill?
Super funny. You're always dying to find out what's coming next. Clocks, chairs & lava was as far as I could go, what a hostile place.
super cool concept. had a blast playing through it. each and every contract adds something interesting to the game and ups the tension. movement feels snappy and responsive and the level layout feels well thought out. my only complaint would be the lack of background music/ ambient background noise. it just feels a little jarring without it. other than that, Good Job!
It's a really funny and creative game, although some changes are a bit infuriating. Clocks being death is one of them. Ambient sound would be a really nice addition. Nice game!
Loved the atmosphere and refreshing take on the theme! Agreed about the Stanley Parable vibes from an earlier comment. I especially enjoyed the different notes on the whiteboard I bet those were fun to create.
An absolutely incredible game. I would love to see an expanded full length version of this game
Awesome game. Looks great and plays smooth. Lots of funny interactions and unexpected surprises. well done.
Feels like a Stanley Parable demo, very well done, with a unique perspective on the theme.
Heya, Thanks for playing! For science purposes, may I ask how long it took for you to finish? (if you did)
I think about 15 minutes, I don't quite remember
