This is the most creative game I've seen so far in the jam. The concept of this game is so brilliant! Also, the game is executed so well. Good tutorials, nice and smooth control, good graphics, well-made levels... I can only say that this game is just perfect! Really Really a nice work for 48 hours! 15 stars!
Thanks a lot for the kind words!
I really like what you did with this concept! It's simplistic, physics feels amazing, tons of creativity with the approach, and lots of polish :)
I did get a bit more frustrated as it went on, but in the form of a bite-sized jam game I think this went down really well! The frustration definitely hit the same note as putting small decals on Gundam models, so I'd say you did really well capturing the feeling of working with tweezers on something that loves to misstick hahah
Great job all around!
Haha, i expected lots of people to get frustrated with some aspects of the game. Happened to me while playtesting a lot too^^
Thanks for the comment!
Damn, this is really really cool. So many puzzles and possibilities with just a few simple rules.
Thanks :) i just wish i could have implemented more varied mechanics for the rocks and connections.
Really creative entry, enjoyed the physics a lot! Bravo!
Thanks a lot!
Great puzzler/ physics learning game! Nice presentation!
Thank you :)
This is like space chem but instead of building machines and writing codes, you use surgical precision to create the element yourself.
The control can be a little unforgiving sometime as the rocks joined together because of momentum. The pin is a lifesaver and I wished there were more pins sometime to help with the rocks flying around sticking to each other.
But this game is very satisfying and there are already so many clever level. My favourite moment is when I figured out how to connect the small rock to a large one without putting it in the middle of two rocks using another small rock. Not sure if that sentence make sense.
Feel free to come and rate our game too.
Thanks! I was also thinking of spacechem, I wanted the target molecules to be more similar to real world molecules, but didnt get to it.
The controls can be a bit fiddly, especially if people dont realize you can disconnect rocks by simply usnig the pin and slowly pulling them apart. If you always jank them apart, stuff will fly around everywhere.
Good job on figuring out the difficult part with the black/white pearls^^ it was one mechanic i did not explain, and it actually was a bug that i turned into a feature.
It feels like a strategic world of goo, awesome !
Thanks! I agree, it feels a lot like World of Goo
Congratulations! Awesome game :)
Thanks a lot!
This is really cool. A great use of physics. Did you code this or use the engine? The graphics, I know are intentionally messy to give it that genius-messiness but it's sometimes hard to tell the patterns when they get super complex.
Thanks! No, I used the unity engine. It has lots of physics components, but they still need to be configured so they behave exactly like intended.
About the patterns: I agree. One thing i had planned was to be able to click the target pattern, so it will zoom in, but there was no time left to do it.
Well, no time left for the game jam but there's not reason to not pursue it later.
I really love the idea and execution. The tutorial being drawn on the level really helped solidify the controls. I only have a very minor criticism; it would be nice to have the next level automatically load after completing the current level. Again, though, this has nothing to do with the idea and is mostly a quality of life change, so good work!
Thanks a lot! About the next level: good point. During development, i never bothered to implement the level systems feature of "you actaully need to pass this level to continue", and then I decided to make it a feature, letting players chose any level they want. So i kinda forgot ^^"
Haha yeah no worries! The time limit of Game Jam definitely contributes to small forgotten features like that!
Nice idea and nice implementation! It was a bit difficult to control but I imagine that was intended as it added to the confusion. Very nice game good job!
Really neat puzzles. I actually felt like I was pulling something apart, when I tried to separate the rocks. I liked it a lot! Good luck!
Thanks a lot! i tried to make the whole physics part of it as "snappy" as possible, and sounds like i succeeded :)
Nice puzzles with a lot of cool variance :)
I loved the aesthetic too.
Thanks!
amazing concept and brilliant execution!! i'm really impressed that one person could even come up with this concept let alone polish it so well
This was a fun little game; I spent as much time randomly dragging around rocks and playing with it as I would a toy as I did actually trying to complete levels. The graphics worked well for it too; I especially liked how the connections would move and thin as you pulled rocks apart. Thanks for making this!
Thanks! I'm happy people see the submission as a toy and as a game. I usually start by making my projects more toy-like, then play with them and see what could be the gamey-part of it. Worked well this time :)
Really engaging, really unique, beautiful art, fantastic game!
Thanks a lot!
I honestly love the visual style and the sound effects are great. It's a super unique take on the theme that still feels good to play as a game. I didn't realize the pin was meant to hold the rocks till I checked the description after being unable to get rocks with larger fields apart, which is on me because I went back and checked, definitely missed the signs somehow 😂
It seems basically fully realized already! Great job!
Thank you! Other people have mentioned the pin as well. If i was to do the game again, i'd make rocks you can only disconnect of one of them is pinned. That way, you have to use the pin, and I can be sure the user knows how it works.
I really like how everything feels. pulling apart the rocks makes me feel like they have weight to them and that's awesome. I would love a visual line to show where the unused area like you showed in one of the levels but that's just a small nitpicky thing. The puzzles are also great because I learn a lot about how the rocks connect to different things. Lastly, I must comment that the pin is such a lifesaver. Before the introduction of the pin in the earlier levels I was dragging my mouse with great force to pull apart the rocks so thank you for preserving my sanity. :D
Thanks! I'm also very happy with the physical properties of the rocks and so.
About the visual line: good point. a simple marking would have helped already i guess..
About the pin: it's easy to miss, especially if you skip levels. Maybe there should be a one-time pop-up/ingame message around the pin if you haven't used it in a while.
cool. you invented something. You made great and smart use of Physic Engine !
Thanks! Happy that unity provides these features.
To be brutally honest here: I couldn't really get into it. Moving the rocks around feels really satisfying and the magnetic connections come with exactly the right amount of weight. However, the actual goal of replicating the given layout was a little too fiddly for my liking. That being said, the implementation feels really solid (especially so for a gamejam) and I really like the look of the game. :)
Thanks for your honesty! I agree it can feel very fiddly, and thats not something for everyone. Happy to hear your like the physical properties of the elements tho. Without the level restriction, the whole game itself is more of a toy, where you can just play around with the rocks. Like I mentioned in other posts, I think addint more mechanics would make the game more puzzle-y, but there was no time.
No worries, for the given time you did a really great job! And as a lot of other reviewers seem to enjoy the game quite a bit, it's probably safe to say that it simply isn't for me. ;)
