Very clever & unique concept! Great level design, very fun puzzles to solve. I dig the art style too, I dont know why you choose gothic/dark theme in a game about lock & key, but it works!

One thing that I'd add, maybe change the control scheme depending on the gravity, I think it's better you use up/down when you are on the vertical wall, just to avoid accidental death, its confusing enough that when gravity was on the left, right arrow key become move to the left and vice versa.

Regardless, awesome entry! Marvelous job! :)

hi @meckyr thanks for playing the game, I have seen many people are confused about the controls, you are right when on the left wall or ceiling arrow keys should work reversed, actually I coded it the way that no matter on what wall you are left arrow key would always move you down and same goes for ceiling and ground too but actually its my fault to not inform players for that.

No worries, it's just my opinion, I am sure we all have something that we wanna improve about the game, but the nature of the jam just wont let us apply everything on time. But this is already an amazing work, nice job in making all the gravity mechanic works in just 48 hours! :)

nice and simple really hard, probably could've slowed the difficulty progression down a little bit, but thats a big issue with game jam games. all in all great job

Developer

Thanks @nicholas for playing the game, glad you liked it :D

I feel like there needs to be more gravity-based games, as they seem to make the most interesting platforming challenges. The art style was appropriately spooky, and the game felt long enough, without overstaying its welcome.

The control scheme irked me a bit at the beginning, but I changed my mind by the final level. The introduction of the cannon that only shot right made me realize that the majority of the game's difficulty was learning an unintuitive way of moving, and by the time you got to the end, you should have gotten used to it enough to dodge a moving object in an open room. Adding the cannon at the end nicely combined a final test of the game's puzzle, with an entirely new one. Pretty Neat!

My only real complaint was that the random movement of the boss kinda detracts a bit from the puzzle-solving nature of the game, because some movements make the boss harder than others. I had trouble hitting him more than twice for most of my runs, and then he ate ten shot at once by slowly moving across the floor.

Nice Work!

Developer

@Gawdayumeet thankyou very much for the brief review and for playing it fully, I will certainly look into the boss randomness problem, I hope you will continue your work into the zombie game :)

I killed the boss and got the golden key! I liked the game, moving around with gravity was much more intuitive then with the arrow keys. I am not sure how to solve that, maybe by having gravity on the keyboard and movement on the mouse might help, fun game.

Developer

@Simpathey great suggestions surely work on them :) thanks for playing by the way

Cool concept, well executed :)

If you come back to it, I think it would be more intuitive if the movement controls were just up/down/left/right matching the screen direction; getting confused was definitely my most common cause of death.

I had fun making it to the end though :)

Developer

@thomas thanks a lot for playing the game :D very few people made it to the end screen.

Thanks a lot @Ashwinii appreciate that :)

That was pretty spooky!  I personally like the more upbeat type of games but I think people who like the darker side of games will enjoy this.  I can certainly appreciate the clever gravity mechanic -- nice work!

Developer

Thanks @SweetAppleGames for trying it out :D

I liked this game. There were a few places where it felt like the controls were missing, though.

I wish that the up/down arrows would let you walk along the walls like the left/right arrows do on the floor and ceiling. Using the left/right arrows on the walls is very unintuitive. I also wish that the character would face in the direction that you're walking. This would only really be relevant to the boss battle to let you aim, but it'd make you feel a lot more in control of the character.

The final suggestion I have would be to reduce the randomness of the boss. Give it some sort of behavior pattern in the way that it moves. That'd give the player an opportunity to figure out what the movement pattern is, and let them feel clever when they come up with a way to exploit that pattern to beat the boss.

@UwertaDev Thanks for playing the same and suggesting some awsome suggestions I will surely release a new version after the jam :D

This game was way too fun! The art style and overall design looks really stylish and cool, and the core mechanic of controlling gravity to zip around the screen felt great and was so fun. I enjoyed my time with this game a lot!

By the way, we played your game on our stream last night!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing the game @NiceGearGames appreciate that :D

The concept is cool and the game is quite challenging ! The idea to be able to change gravity is a good one ! It allows some really neat level design, and some awesome strategies =) ! The general "hell" design is also pretty cool, this kind of design ir pretty rare.

The only drawback is... I don't really see the relationship with the theme ^^'. You said "Join yourself with the lock to proceed further", but it's like any screen-based platformer... I don't feel like the theme had an impact on the gameplay, or maybe I'm missing something ?

Nonetheless, it's a good game, and I enjoyed playing it !

Developer

@SpicyFrog yes it looks like a platformer, although joining yourself with the lock is one of the things you are also connected to the golden lock which shows you the way, I wanted to make some story slides too but time was very less, but again I should agree that people liked it this way too as a regular puzzle platformer =D if that makes sense by the way Thanks for playing :)

Cleaver puzzles with nice aesthetic! Really good job!

Cool atmosphere, dark and calm in the same time.

@ZomorroStudio thanks for trying the game out =D

This is the first game jam I played to completion! It was very challenging but fair, good job!

Developer

Thanks a lot for playing @SarDinah

The aesthetic is really awesome, good job! I think the main mechanic was fun and you did a great job ramping up the difficulty over the course of the game. The boss was still too hard for me to beat though.

Developer

Thanks @treesarefood for trying the game I agree the boss is a little too tough to handle.

I'm a sucker for puzzle platformers with lots of spikes. Very disorienting to keep track of which direction moves you left or right, but satisfying nonetheless. Nice job!

Developer

Thanks @atolbertsmith for trying the game :)

I agree, maybe a screen relative control fits better in this game. However, Unlock is a must try in this Jam!

Submitted(+1)

Nice job! I liked the twist of being able to transform gravity in any directions. Lots of games just have you switch it back and forth between up and down, so that made solving puzzles a little more interesting. Especially with how the enemies reacted slightly differently to the changes than the player. Also the music was cool, kinda reminded me of Silent Hill-ish. Only wish is up and down moved me when I was on the walls instead of left and right still since that took my brain a second to get oriented, haha. Good job on the game!

Developer

Hey @EricFreeman thanks for playing the game, I will keep that in mind and try to add those controls too :D

Submitted(+1)

Cool game, really like the idea of playing as a key! It's a fun twist

Developer

Thanks for trying it out @mvann :)
