This was fun, and the visuals are gorgeous! The gameplay is simple enough to get hold of, and it is really unique.
I did hit a point where I realized you could camp out in the screen corner to get the enemies to clump, then take them all out before they could spread their positions. This made clearing the levels super easy and somewhat stagnated gameplay, since it didn't matter how many enemies you threw in at that point (up until the boss). If you continue to develop, maybe put something in to discourage this, maybe certain enemies deliberately hang back as opposed to coming up close, or perhaps some limitation on the invulnerability.
Either way, doesn't take away from the fact that for a game jam version, this is great! Well done
Incredible ! Simple concept, awesome execution, perfectly fits the theme !
Visually, it's really good. The glow effects really give some awesome vibes to the game.
The gameplay is fun, and even if the base mechanic is simple to understand, you still need a bit of strategy and reflexion. Awesome !
Congratulations, this is a really good entry !
Love how well the mechanics play into each other, constantly putting the player in a state of calm and vulnerability while in attack state, giving some risk vs reward elements, making the gameplay more dynamic. The boss was pretty fun too, especially the last attack phase where you force the player to have to make use of their absorption ability to eat all the bullets before going for an attack and trying to dodge all remaining bullets to survive while trying to get back your shield.
I thought it would be interesting to have different enemy types/behaviours that would challenge the player's playstyle and powers instead of more of the same enemies except with different colour and shapes firing slightly more bullets.
For example an enemy that would come up to the player and be able to damage you even through your shield, which might force the player to impulsively attack quickly, opening themselves to incoming damage.
Or perhaps an enemy that could fire bullets that can overload your shield if you were hit by it when your energy has already filled 2 bars.
And lastly an enemy that can only be destroyed by your attack if you have released it at 2 bars.
Really neat game! I included it in my GMTK compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :)
I rarely say this, but... the game might actually be too easy, once you know how to play it (except for the boss fight). But it is fun, original, and looks very polished (especially considering it's only basic shapes)! Nice touch with the dynamic audio filters. I like that you can take your time to check out the boss attack patterns while in invulnerability mode.
Really liked the soundtrack on this and the glow effects are very well done! Fantastic visuals coupled with superb gameplay!
Fantastic presentation and some really nice touches, like the music lowering in volume when you're in defence mode. ~ Do check mine and give your valueable feedback:D
Really well executed! So juicy I can taste it :P
Very polished and fun game,
I Love It.
I would be very Happy if you would play my game.
Oooof this is soo banger game, especially the music! I feel that recalling your split is more important rather than dodging, but I think that just me. Also, when I first started this, I don't know that I can move the player until I read the controls haha. Otherwise, this is very good game! Good job!
Super smooth and pretty! Needs a visual and audible indicator when you take damage. I like how you can overcharge your battery by picking up bullets while joined.
I really liked how this game feels! Reminds me of geometry wars!
Fantastic! Having to keep track of two separate parts was really fun and challenging, and that boss fight was tense! I sat there for a while waiting for it to let up on its last attack before realising "oh... I'm just going to have to go for it". The only thing I'd have liked to see would be a score system, and maybe an indicator of how long you have until the next wave spawns.
This is super juicy and fun. its a little bit easy at times since you can stay immune for as long as you want. I think it could be improved by having a duration you can stay connected just like you have a duration you can be apart, so you always need to be switching. I had a ton of fun playing this though. I love the modern spin on atari graphics
Fun, and beautiful lighting effects.
I thought it was really well executed, the only issue I ran into was that it was kinda difficult to tell when I was hit. I didn't really notice any major indicators other than the health bar going down
Fantastic presentation and some really nice touches, like the music lowering in volume when you're in defence mode. I liked that the mechanics promoted you to do quick, short attacks against the enemy. I wasn't able to beat the boss after 3 attempts, and I agree with another commenter about there being a checkpoint before the boss. I also think that if you had gone further with the theme, with the attack ball tethered to the defenceless ball, there would have been even more risk / reward. Great submission!
gioco molto bello soprattutto per lo stile usato che attira l'attenzione del giocatore
I love the gameplay, polish and all of the particles you added. Plus anyone can easily learn how to play. (though I do think the boss is a bit hard)
Very good looking game!
