Great slice of strategy gameplay! Had a lot of fun, great work!

Developer

I'm glad you liked it, thank you !

Submitted

enemys have way to much HP so half the fight is spent getting them low enough to actually start playing

Developer

I agree, the game would have need a lot more playtesting

Submitted

Had a blast playing this, killed the boss

Yeah, right now the game has a few winning strategies (body slam, waiting for the right moment, etc) and there is almost no strategic consequence on dealing damage (and not killing). I think this can be solved with a little secondary mechanic, maybe you choose cards at the same time and one of the players has initiative? or maybe a timer? external random hazard? 🤔

but the main idea is very clever and the overall experience was fun, it has that great roguelike deckbuilding feel hehe. GOOD JOB!

Developer

Yeah, the game needs a lot of rebalancing and a mechanic to encourage dealing damage, but I'm glad you still liked it ! Thank you !

Submitted

Really cool concept!! Love the idea!

This clever, and well polished! I would love a full game like slay the spire with this mechanic just with some other elements.

Really well done!

Developer

I don't know if I'll continue to work on this project, but I'm glad you liked it ! Thank you !

I think the graphics is.... well, there are sprites that look fine, but the way they are put together just doesn't work IMO.

I like that you can steal cards from enemies, but I have no idea how can you re-activate a card so you can use it.

I don't get how you share health. Or how to defeat the enemy. I am confused.

The codework behind this must be a lot.

Developer(+1)

Your cards are reactivated automatically once only one of them is still activated.

You and your enemy have the same lifebar, the one who win is the one who strike the fatal blow.

And yeah, the art direction is quite bad and that was a lot of coding x)

Submitted

I would actually really like this if you made it bigger, I think. This could be something like slay the spire. Except you need to make it so that it's not only the last blow that decides the outcome of the battle. This video may give you an idea.

This could give you an idea how to make this really interesting, revolutionary and successful!
Developer

Yeah, I already heard about that kind of game, this is what convinced me to make the game in the first place. But I had to add multiple variable and unpredictability to create a game where the winner isn't always the same person

Submitted

Aside from the main mechanic, which was interesting, I also thought it was neat how you could influence your deck building by choosing enemies that might have the cards you want. I ended up making a build that stalls with 3 defense cards into a body slam last hit, but was disappointed to find my defense caps at 9, hah.

I'm curious if you have ideas about what sort of mechanics a theoretical full version of this game would have. It seems to me that overcoming the pretty obvious dominant strategy would be difficult.

I really enjoyed this, though, good job!

Developer

I'm glad you took the time to use the only real synergy I had the time to put in the game x)

And yeah, there is actually a huge problem in the game with the dominant strategy of waiting before striking with your strongest attack, and I'm still not sure how to balance it

Thank you for the feedbacks and the kind words !

Submitted

Very nice submission - fits the theme very nicely and I really liked it, interesting concept!

Developer

Thank you very much !

I had a lot of fun with this game! Loved the deck-building aspect and the strategy required to get the killing blow. Art could improve, but it wasn't needed for me to have a blast. Thanks for making this :)

Developer

Yeah, I'm really not an artist x) I'm glad you loved it, thank you very much !

Submitted(+1)

really nice work flendered! :)
crazy amount of work for one persoon! :O
even with your own music!
and the idea to have shared healthbar with enemy is really clever!
really nice, your efforts paid off! ;)

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for all the kind words, I really appreciate it !

And to be fair, I reused a battle theme I made before : I didn't have time to compose a new one x)

Submitted (1 edit)

haha well I did the same! ;p
only the main theme of the level is composed during the jam! (the song before, after are both from ealier ;p)

Submitted

Really neat concept and you executed it very well. Love the attack designs and the enemy themes. This could be a whole polished game if done correctly and I would be down to play it.

Developer

Another game jam game that I could continue into a full game but won't have time to x) Thank you ver much !

Submitted

Nice little game!
It reminds me of an old game using sticks. You can pick 1 to 3 stick per turn, and the player taking the last stick looses.
Kinda same idea but with more powers to it ^^

Good job !

Developer

That was indeed a big inspiration, and what makes me think that this stupid idea could actually works. Thank you !

Submitted

Joining the health bars and deciding on the final hit is such a unique idea! Good one.

Developer

Thank you !

Submitted

Wow. This game is really cool. I mean, love the concept and game genre, the mechanics are nice. Nice work :D

Developer

Thank you !

Submitted(+1)

Neat mechanic. If I had to describe it I would say it's a cross between Pokemon and Hot potato. Fun stuff. :)

Developer

Thank you !

Submitted

The mechanic is creative :D, and gives fun while playing it, great job :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks !

I like this a lot, really love to see explorations of pokemon-style mechanics! As the coder on our game... Art is hard! It felt like you leaned into the mechanics and it works really well!

Developer

I'm still a bit proud of my monsters drawings, but my main focus was indeed the game mechanics. Thank you !

Submitted(+1)

You should be proud, definitely better than I could do!!

Developer

Thank you !

Submitted

Really interesting! The presentation is a little bit ugly, but still fun nonetheless. Good work!

Developer

I did my best, but i really am a bad artist... I'm glad you still liked it though, thank you !

Submitted (1 edit)

Really interesting concept to share both player and enemy health bar and to be the first to kill the enemy. It might be more interesting if the enemies followed a real pattern that you could abuse to win, because it feels more like they randomly choose a chard at the moment. Besides that tough really well done.

Developer

This isn't an impression, they are choosing card randomly. That's why I made the "used  card" mechanic which will made the enemy actions more predictable but there is still a lot of random. I'm glad you liked the concept !

I didn't understand on the first battle : if we share the life, "I am allways dying at the end of the battle and I lose". After a retry I understood if we do the final attack we win.
Interesting !
There is no 'quit" button btw :p . Nice job

Developer(+1)

I wish I had the time to implement a tutorial and a quit button... Thank you !

Submitted

I had a lot of fun! not complicated to understand and challenging to have a great deck, it can quickly come to having a super strong blow and a other very insignificant cards in order to wait for the right moment haha

Developer

I'm glad you enjoyed it! The game really needs some balancing... Thank you for the feedback !
