5 stars of enjoyment for our Root Brother!
I was very intrigued that you could extend roots from any node!! Thats a cool engineering aspect in terms of code!! I very much enjoyed this game!! Style and graphics are left to be desired but thats a minor thing!! Played at https://twitch.tv/hedge_in <3 vod Day 4 @ 1:59:16
Great work, although I had to remove some originality evaluation for not being entirely original, as I saw a similar game for the Ludum dare jam (yours?).
I would still like to see something like this, but with more content and more exploration of the mechanics (eg. animals, rocks, etc.), But overall a very enjoyable game.
Not ours, hadn’t heard about it until now. Just searched for “Ludum Dare Jame Root” and found The Root from Ludum Dare 48. Very cool to see a similar take on a different theme. Thanks for the info and feedback!
I was thinking of: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/48/root-down But yeah.
Apparently there’s a whole universe we have tapped (root pun!) into that we didn’t realize existed.
Very cool concept. I think I was locked pretty quickly from proceeding, cause I couldn't find a further water source I could reach. However, that didn't detract from how original this game is. Nice work! :D
Satisfying and enjoyable game. Good work!
If there were more levels and more obstacles I'd keep on playing.
A really unique and enjoyable concept. I wonder if there's a version of this as a puzzle game with different obstacles each level.
Remarkably zen, it's really satisfying to slowly grow the tree higher.
Great concept and really relaxing!
Very cool game! Thank god you put in an undo button, that made the whole thing a lot more enjoyable.
Really cool concept!
that's an interesting approach to the theme, i must say that's super original but super weird to play ahah but it was fun !
Super fun game and interesting concept. Good job!
I really like the nature theme this game takes on and the sound track matches the vibe so well! Well done!
Just chiming in that I got stuck near the bottom like THUNDERLIGHT did. I had fun exploring around with my roots and it felt smooth to control them. I would have tried a bit more, but the game locked up when I undid a root while actively dragging a new root out.
Think about where the rock goes when you push it. And remember that roots can’t go through each other (we would probably remove that in a later version, it’s a holdover from the initial concept). You have to plan a bit ahead. Also, use R or Z to undo and reposition.
cool concept! the switching between root ends felt quite smooth
Nice concept ! I had fun and an eureka moment when I managed to block the path of the mouse ! Some path to the sides where totally block by stone, can we even reach there ?
Good Job :)
This is really cool! A great concept and its made well! Sadly i got stuck only a bit near the bottom and couldn't find any routes anywhere to use instead since they were all blocked off
i tried making my roots as big as possible to bypass the rocks but it did not work and so i was unable to continue
it is with a tear in my eye that i say goodbye to this tree that i have built for it shall never have its roots reach the vast reservoir of water that lies at the bottom of the screen
While you never got around the bottom rocks, I think you beat the game in your own way.
Really, really cool idea about growing out roots like this. I love it! Nicely done, and fun to try and help the tree get as big as possible. Almost feels like a colony sim with the way you keep building out!
Very fun puzzle game! Clever and relaxing. I had a ton of fun with it!
Such a cool idea, very chill, but with some challenges and a goal! I got stuck :(
