Great job! The game is fun, I loved the diversity of enemy types! And it's nice to see someone else who took the theme in a mushroom direction :)

I had a fun-gus time with this game!

Submitted

Nice! I liked the artwork and the progression felt good!

Only minor thing is I got a little confused at the end since I didn't notice the health bar and thought I needed to out-grow the tree. It was definitely clear once I started shooting at it noticed the health bar

I think I got a pretty good time on my second run though 😂

Very cool game, i'd like to see more if you decide to continue :)

Fun game and great pixel art style!

Fungi-aim...sorry, fun game! The art by Eldritch Frog is great, the sound fx by Silent Crystal Tears was solid although the music was a bit underwhelming (think the menu music was a bit better), and the programming and design by Alchemy Bats was very good. In terms of keeping with the jam theme, this is one of the better concepts. Wish you had more to do and could just keep getting bigger until you're fighting wolves and shit but I'll take what you got ;P

Cute little game!

Nice game. I like the idea of using your size as a bullet.
I think the tree health bar should be more visible. At the end of the game, I spotted it.
Maybe pointing it in the tutorial screen. Also, I think the character has too many live points. I didn't die once.
And maybe the player can hit the tree when he has some size. I sit near the tree and I'm hitting the tree all the time gathering bullets from easy enemies because I was small.

Very interesting design decisions; the idea that using ammunition would reduce your size but at same time necessary to consume more things was brilliant. Also great enemy diversity  ദ്ദി(• ˕ •マ.ᐟ

Unfortunately it's not working for me, all the images in the tutorial show up on top of each other and I can't click the button. Love the story though!

Developer

That's strange! Could you tell me what browser you're using?

Submitted

I'm on Firefox. Maybe I should try it in Chrome? I think I can see the button in the bottom right corner but I can't click it. By the way, really nice graphics! Here's what it looks like:

Developer

Yeah the other person having trouble is using the same browser. If you want to play it, I'd switch to chrome

Submitted

Oh unfortunately i think it s not working for me. such a shame because the game looked so fun

Developer(+1)

Oh that's odd! Could you tell me what browser you're using?

Submitted

*sigh* I should have known it was Mozilla striking again :(.

Developer(+1)

Yeah without knowing anything else, my guess is its a browser issue but I'll have to keep that in mind for next year and test it on multiple

Submitted

To be fair, few people still use Mozilla ... especially programmers :)).

Submitted

Just to help out, I was using Firefox as well and experienced no issues.

Developer(+1)

Well now I'm extra confused lol two Firefox users can't play it but at least one can. Debugging is a lot easier when there's some consistency lol

Submitted (1 edit)

Yea I thought about that after I commented haha. I actually just checked now on my work laptop on Firefox and I encountered the issue the others did. I can check when I get home if the Firefox version is different or something.

Edit: Ran on Edge and the issue persisted. Did you update the game in any way? Very weird.

Developer(+1)

We can't modify the game at all until the judging is over, so we're stuck with it sometimes not working for now. I used a webgl template to get the game to scale properly so maybe it only works for chrome

Submitted

Weird, I definitely ran it on Firefox at home, I don't have Chrome.

Developer

Idk then lol I'll have to do some research before next time.

Submitted

Love the art but it could use a bit more juice, screenshake, particles, and more impactful sound effects go a long way, good job

Developer

I agree! Next jam I want to really focus on those little things that add a lot

Submitted

Really cool game concept. The art is also really good.

Submitted

Game is very fun although i got stuck at ~8cm for a while because i didnt notice the tree had a healthbar

Submitted

Loved this! I wish the fungus had some more animations, but great job!

Submitted

Everything was well executed, and a cute idea. I loved all of the different enemies! Great art style, reminded me of A Bug's Life

Submitted

I really like the concept of absorbing other characters to grow. The only thing I find a bit unfortunate is that since the environment doesn't grow with the character, it's hard to tell that it's getting bigger. Also, I had a bit of trouble understanding when the character was being hit. Great job !

How did you get so many different enemies and patterns in such a short period?? Great work! Also love the theme text!

Developer

Thank you! Our team was hard at work for the enemy types (we actually even cut one!).  I can't speak for our artist, but I tried to make the code as modular as possible so the different enemy mechanics could be quickly added.

Submitted

Quite challengin at first, but once you reach 9cm there arent enough enemies to eat. Cool game though!
