Nice little game
Haven't seen that kind of game in a jam before
Art is cute
Audio is nice

Probably a bit too difficult early on compared to the end

Love the artsyle and the overall gameplay! I would add some sort of zoom out function cus at some moments you cant see all your memories wich makes it hard to defend them.

The artstyle is very polished and adorable, very talented artists there :)

As said earlier, I found surviving a bit tricky at the beginning, but it quickly becomes easier and more fun once you grow a bit bigger.

Well done !

Cute art. I found the starting few levels tricky but after that it become more balanced with the skillset and abilities I had.

I love the capybara character, very cute little guy and good animations! I also enjoyed the movement, the glidey nature felt fast and fun, and bumping away the little blobs of emotion was quite satisfying (especially with the little bop sound)!

One thing I would want might more variation when you grow larger, as the game still feels fairly similar when you grow. Maybe more powerups or abilities for big capy? Once I realized you only had to protect one memory-- that was my main strategy to survive.

One thing that I think could also improve the story-- if you were to make this a bigger game, would be some cutscenes/slides about what capy's memories are! I think that would be a cute reward when you protect a memory.

But overall, a very fun little experience! I liked the wave counter also-- it was a good piece of information to keep me going to beat the level!

I really liked the game as a whole! The take on the theme is original, the gameplay feels good and the art is cool. I would appreciate if the game had indicators for the enemies.

I think the game has very solid fundamentals, especially for the timeframe and with the amount of experience your team has. I look forward to seeing what you guys come up with next!

Some feedback as a thank you for rating our game and as requested by you earlier (sorry I couldn't get to you sooner):

This game was honestly pretty decent. The movement was rather difficult to get used to at first but once i got the hang of it with the dash and bouncing between enemies the game really started to pick up. The concepts and the mechanics are all decently well thought out and honestly could be expanded in a natural way if you ever choose to revisit this game or its mechanics. The main thing holding it back in this case is in the department of game feel. The story, while communicated through the page, isn't necessarily as apparent in game. Because of this, sometimes the game feels rushed to get through and without substance, even if the core mechanics are sound. An additional thing that might be worth doing is allowing for time to breathe and pause at the ends and starts of levels. Immediately jumping into the next level after completing one can get overwhelming at times. If i could make one immediate change to the game to make my experience way better it'd be to zoom the screen out so that i can see more of what's happening. So often I had a memory get hit because i couldn't see the memory OR the enemy that hit it. Because of that the memories sometimes felt insignificant, as if I only really had to protect one of them at a time. This hindered enjoyment just a little bit.

There's a lot in this game that I like a lot so you should feel very proud of what you've made. The concept is very creative, the gameplay itself has good feedback, and the game itself is technically sound all around (excluding a glitch for if you dash out of bounds).  The little things will always be secondary to what you already have so  I'm sure you guys will be make some super cool stuff if you keep at it!

cool game but not very intuitive.

Really cute art, however the difficulty was a bit too hard. A tutorial would've been nice since I tried to bump the dreams away from the red monsters for quite a bit haha (I thought the red things would damage me)

Developer

Funnily enough, when we first conceptualized the game, you _could_ bump the memories away! In an early iteration, you had to be very careful not to bump the memories into the circle, cause it would destroy them too.
Thanks for playing!

Fun game even tho it is a bit hard xD

good sound, good art, good ui, you made the dash really clear. GJ! :)

I enjoyed my experience, but my feedback will include that I think the capybara should not be colliding with its own memories that can hinder him while he tries to protect them especially if they are blocking the only path the player can get to for the protection otherwise a cute and fun experience! Happy Programming!

Very cute! It took me a few tries to get out of world 1. But after that it was a smooth cruise to victory.

the bouncing mechanic was so fun and made 100x better by the sound effects! love to see a game with good music too.

Very easy to read and understand what to do, starting the game you right away get a good feel of the controls. Dashing is actually helpful, also bouncing off enemies to hit other enemies was very satisfying. The idea is cute, the graphics are nice. The only thing I didn't like was how zoomed in the camera was, it added a lil stress to not see where or what's coming but I wouldn't say it's a negative point, I think it's just me.

Incredible execution of a gamejam game revolving the theme perfectly. 5/5/5

Such a sweet game. I loved the theming, and the main character.

Most top down arena type games like this would have you running away from enemies, it's nice to be charging into them! I really like the games art, was it all hand drawn?

Developer (2 edits) (+1)

Thanks. Yeah it was all hand drawn by our artist

Took me two tries to get the hang of it, but once I did, it was fun! Quite tough with how you character carries inertia, but that was part of the challenge. I liked how the arena kept getting bigger and bigger. I kind of wish the camera was a bit more zoomed out, but maybe that's just part of the challenge. Good work!

Developer

Thanks a lot. The inertia wasn't intentional at the start, but we went with it later on. Will surely change the camera if we update the game in the future.
