How does your game fit the theme?
Roll and acquire dice to navigate the dungeon, and the player looks like one too! Enemy movements are based on a 4-sided die, and the level design is influenced by the probability of movements.

I found this game a neat, easy to understand adventure. sound and art choices made things easy to work with and ultimately it was a fun playthough. Thanks for that. I think the only thing I would have done differently is maybe shown where the enemies were going next as well. solid 15/15 for me.
Thank you so much for playing and I am glad you enjoyed it! What are your thoughts on showing a roll preview like is shown for the player? That way you know how far they are going to go but not which direction.
I honestly think knowing the direction would be cool. you know they wont move until after you do so if that makes it a little easier you could just add a few more enemies. the tension of risking moving in while know you would be boxed in but might be able to escaped seemed appealing.
Good points, I shall consider!
The enemies are very difficult to work around. because of your limited rolls, you can't just wait until the necessary path is safe, and moving anywhere around them is basically a coinflip as to whether or not the will kill you. I think removing their ability to kill you if you cross their path, and maybe adding some indication of the direction they are next going to go would really help it feel less random. All in all it actually is a pretty interesting concept. It is visually pretty decent, and the music is great,
Thank you so much I am glad you liked it! Were you able to make it to the end? I totally agree on the enemies, what are your thoughts on showing a roll preview like is shown for the player? That way you know how far they are going to go but not which direction.
i did in fact make it to the end. i've always been a fan of unpredictability in games, so i kinda got a bit hooked for the duration of this game
I'm so glad you got the full experience, thanks again for playing :)
Adding the extra dice to pick up was a really nice touch, the game might've felt a little too random without that. The enemies were sometimes hard to get around, but once I decided to be patient and actually use my allotted movement, they weren't as frustrating anymore. I had fun with this one!
Thank you very much! I'm so glad you enjoyed this! Were you able to beat the game?
I'm looking forward to playing yours later!!
Do you have a Mac or browser build of your game?
Unfortunately no :(
Really wishing I had made a WebGL version, but didn't get the memo I guess.
Cute little puzzler and very pleasing to the eyes, but I agree with some of the other commenters. Would have definitely liked to have seen a preview of the enemy's pathing and to have not died by intersecting paths so often. The concept and everything else was great though, good work!
Thank you so much and i'm glad you enjoyed it! Did you make it to the end?
And yeah I definitely underestimated the frustration, especially if you aren't able to take multiple hits. Lesson learned the hard way!
Very creative concept and great execution! Only gripe I have is that I think the enemies shouldn't kill you if you cross paths, only if you land on the same square. Great game!
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed playing! And yeah I agree, the enemy mechanics needed to be cleaner and more forgiving. Thanks for your feedback!
I quite like the the game's mechanics, its pretty creative :) Also, i like the game's art and color scheme. Good job on this! :D
Thank you so much for playing and I am glad you enjoyed it!
Great game, loved the level design and how you implemented luck without it being too unfair, it feels really great when you get a double roll, and being able to escape a tight situation by being lucky and having some strategy feels awesome! One thing: Maybe it would be cool if we could see where the enemy is going, so the game could rely a little more on strategy, but overall a really great experience
Thank you so much for playing and am glad you enjoyed it, did you beat the game? And I agree, I think adding a preview of the enemy dice roll would have helped balance the game more. Lesson learned!
Cool game! I liked the art. It probably could've used a tutorial though.
Check out my art for the game my team made!
Thanks for playing! Can you elaborate on which part you found confusing? I tried to make each level simple enough to allow someone to grasp the concepts without an explicit tutorial, but would love to hear what you think!
I put about 15 minutes into it, so maybe I didn't have enough time, I guess it hust never clicked how the faces of the dice played into the game. Maybe I just missed something though.
Oh ok I see! So the numbers indicate how far you can move, and your move options are displayed on the screen for you to click (the number shown there just corresponds to how far away that spot is from you). Hope that helps, and please play again, I'd love to hear your thoughts on the final level!
A game to always keep on my favourites! I liked how this game could've played without prior tutorials, the choice of keeping controls short and making them clear was cool! I really liked it and might be one of my favourite games on the jam so far!
BEST OF LUCK:)
P.S. Check out our game too!
Thank you so much! I am so glad you enjoyed playing!
And yes definitely I will check yours out here in a bit.Reviewed and rated!I had a lot of fun playing this, and got a bit sad when it ended so suddenly!
Adding dice was a brilliant move as I feel many games can feel frustrating due to too much RNG. This mechanic meant it remained chance dependent and thematic, but still tactical, which is hard to pull off. Levels were engaging and had a good risk/reward balance and the music and art were the cherry on top.
For a Game Jam game, I don't have any complaints! But if you were to continue developing past this I wonder whether the limited rolls could be tweaked - losing to RNG is always tough even when you can reset super smoothly. Perhaps there could be stars, 3 stars for under X roles, 2 for under Y, and 1 for just finishing?
Thank you so much for playing and I am glad you enjoyed beating the game! I appreciate your feedback, and I agree, some others have also mentioned the same thing. I have considered a par system like you are thinking about (but the stars would be a cool twist on that, I was just thinking of a score, but stars are way better haha). Can't wait to play your submission!
I really love this game! The art style and music felt very fitting.
I appreciate how it was super easy to pick up all the mechanics without any tutorials (besides having the note on pressing "R" to roll, and clicking to move). The only thing I failed to realize the first go around was that the key unlocked the door (In the 2nd level, I picked up the key just because it was a shiny item and didn't realize it was consumed when I went over the door. Then in the 4th level, I got 1 key and figured the keys were just optional items since I wasn't punished for collecting both. Then I was promptly punished in level 5). If I had been more observant, I would have picked up on it in the 2nd level, haha.
This is definitely one of the most fun games I've played in the jam so far, and the length is perfect for a jam game (though I would have played more, if there were more levels). Great job on this!
Thank you so much for playing! I really enjoyed your game as well :)
I think that is a very subtle (but significant) point that could probably be corrected with some feedback perhaps .. like something to indicate a key was used, maybe a sound effect?
Yeah, I think a sound effect would be pretty effective!
After first looking into the mechanic I was like: “Can this really make a fair, fun and challenging puzzle game?”
Turns out: Yes! This game is quite random but also has a good amount of depth beyond that. Do you go for the extra die (great idea btw.) or straight for the finish with X turns remaining? Stuff like that.
And even when RNG slaps you, resets are really quick and you don’t lose much.
Overall great game, well done!
Thank you so much, I am really glad you enjoyed playing. Did you beat the game? And I loved experiencing your game as well.
If I remember correctly it said something like “You escaped… right?” sooo I guess I did? c:
This game was genuinely fun and the added mob adds a much welcomed extra challenge. Great job.
Thank you so much and I'm really glad you enjoyed playing the game!
Interesting little puzzle game. I really liked the movement mechanic. I also liked that the double dice allowed to to choose to move to one area OR another instead of the sum. I feel like the fact you have a limited number of rolls could have been a little better communicated. But overall it was good.
Thank you so much!! I'm really glad you enjoyed playing the game. I super agree I did not do a good job of communicating the roll limit, and it also seems like the fact that it exists has caused some controversy haha. Thank you for your time and feedback, I'll be sure to check your submission out!
Ah man, I can't seem to launch your game on my Mac! Got another build I could try?
Unfortunately if the mac build isn't working for you, there isn't too much I can do on my end. Sorry :(
Gah, no I'm sorry I can't play your game :/
It's alright. Enjoy the rest of the jam though! :)
You too!!
i really enjoyed this game! might be my favorite jam submission so far. having to choose where to move in order to collect the items you want and avoid enemies requires a bit of planning which is fun. the simple style and color palette serve nicely too.
Thank you so much! I am glad you found it fun and challenging, and it's so nice to hear it's your favorite haha. Your team's game was so unique and cool!
Very nice game. I especially like the double dice idea. Its a good design because it either gives you more options or a free roll. Different, but both are advantages. Quite smart.
Thank you so much!! I really am glad you enjoyed playing .. did you beat the game? Can't wait to play yours here in a bit!
Yes, I did. Smart level design on the last map. I like how its hard to get back on the correct horizontal axis after picking up the dice.
Thank you!! Glad you got the full experience :)
Gah, I can't play your game .. I can only do browser and Mac based games. Got a build I could try?
It is fun, could work as a roguelike
Thank you for playing and I am so glad you enjoyed it! I think you are right, I would need to give the player a bit more control but I like the idea of that!
Gah, I can't play your game .. I can only do browser and Mac based games. Got a build I could try?
Not really. Sorry man
No, I'm sorry I can't play your game!!! Thank you so much for playing mine :)
I think that the random element could work, but the resource management element is unnecessary. Overall, a clean experience, but I think there is a bit that needs to be done before the game feels like it’s in the control of the player.
Thanks for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed it, and if I am not mistaken you're talking about the roll limits on the level. I think I am starting to agree, and someone else had the idea of a score relative to the par value (currently a hard limit). What are your thoughts on this?
I think that a scoring system could be good, but I don’t think a par system would be a good way to go about it. Since rolls are random, and strategy is only half of the question as to how you would get the keys and get to the exit, your score may be completely different from someone else’s and it wouldn’t be a clear indicator of skill.
That being said, I am honestly not quite sure how you’d go about a scoring system in a game like this.
Fair points .. I just rewatched this and am thinking about how I could modify the resource management to still keep the pressure on! Thanks for your feedback, really appreciate it!
The pain when you try to move past an enemy and they kill you. Gud game would cry again
Thank you! Oh it's so painful .. it's the same pain I feel in Vegas which makes the high of winning even more fabulous. Is this why gambling is so addicting?
Gah, I can't play your game .. I can only do browser and Mac based games. Got a build I could try?
Really cool game.
I especially liked the extra dice and rolling double :)
Thank you so much for playing and glad you enjoyed it! I'm happy to hear you like my favorite parts of the game too :)
