Game Description
Fence your way to the most votes in this government assembly!

How does your game tie into the theme?
Assembly of people, and attendance is mandatory. I have used 4 colors, quite a weak plot twist though.

Took me a solid minute to realize I had to click the vote button. Controls seems fine, gameplay loop is fun, music is responsive and art is cute. I liked it.

Only real issue I had was when both duelist died on the third fight, couldn't continue. Was funny still

Nice little game, you even followed the color limitation, and great use of the theme!

The colors are nice and idea is interesting!

Glad we don't have this type of voting nowadays :)

Maybe adding few extra stances and different type of enemies (by rank and level) will make it more repayable.

Good job!

Really loved the colour palette in this one! The overall tone was fun and sweet, amazing job.

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it

It took me a second to figure out the combat, but it was pretty easy once I got the hang of it. Surprisingly fun and I loved the audience's banter. Well done!

I was throwing myself about in this game a lot, not sure what I was doing but it felt good!

I like the game idea, I wish i had some type of audio que or something to indicate  when I'm suppose to click felt like i was doing it at random for a while. But it also made me feel like I was playing a retro game like joust from the art style which I love.

Hilarious game! I wish the combat was more enticing, though. Thank you for your work!

Developer

Thanks! It's the most complicated combat I've made for a game so far though haha, any tips on what could have made the combat better?

I think having the character swinging with the sword and having a few obvious but short openings here and there would've helped a lot. Regardless, it still fun!

the text of the people is very amusing, love the color palette and the dueling mechanic

Submitted(+1)

Color palate is cozy. Duel is awesome. A real fun game

Really fun take on the theme

Hehe, this has brought back some great memories. I really enjoy what you've done here! Good work!

Really fun idea, I love the thought of an almost Niddhogg parliament. Great use of colour. I think having maybe a bit of a punishment for spamming lunge would be a good idea. But really well done!

lol that was really funny

Fun take on the theme! Looks and sounds good, and plays nicely. Good job!

I like this - a cool take on the theme and a polished game that looks, sounds, and feels polished. Comments from the audience were amazing as well.

I'm not sure I see the plot twist though? I got a bit distracted by the fencing, so I might have missed it.

Developer

Thanks! The audience ended up being the most fun part while making the game, triggering reactions with new comments at each stage of the game. Ah the twist was a bit weak to be honest, the "twist" ended up being how the votes went back up. Originally I planned to have the audience realize that they didn't know what they were voting for "Bill in opposition to the heater installation bill" (so voting yay is in opposition to installing a heater? Does the bill refer to the project or the cost of it? etc.), so you'd have to keep fighting to make the votes swing back so the other side would win.

wow, a very nice concept, and very well put together! a brilliant little jam game, well done!

Nice interpretation of the theme, the visual music and sfx combined really well.

Really enjoyed the combat, it reminded me of a simpler Nidhogg.

Developer(+1)

Funny you say that because Nidhogg (the first 1) was my inspiration for making the fencing. Glad the combat was enjoyable to someone

Fun game, the comments by the "assembly" are a fun touch, took me a little to get the lunge right, and I managed to break the game by a double death (mine and the opponent), lol. Also nice color scheme for the card.

Developer

Thanks for trying it out! Unfortunately it seems that the rng doesn't work as it should after exporting to html5 so the commenting functioned a bit better when run from the editor.

This feels quite polished - I think you did a good job of keeping the scope narrow. The music seems very quiet, but maybe that's intentional. I also had an issue with it fading to black and staying that way a couple of times (had to reload and start again). Apart from that, it's a fun little game and I love the colours!

Developer

Thanks! It stayed black? Do you remember in what scenes that happened and circumstances? The audience ended up becoming the most fun part to make, I hope they were able to keep you entertained throughout.

I just played some more to check. Out of 8 (I think?) plays, it happened 3 times. I think it only happens at the exact moment you click Vote, but it's hard to say for sure (one of them felt like it was immediately before).

Developer

Huh that's strange, the vote button doesn't cause the blackout animation to trigger so if it goes black it must have crashed the game or something. It didn't happen for me or my friend so far when we've played it on the browser, though the rng functions seems to have been messed up in html5. Maybe it's an issue with a specific browser or os then, very strange.
