Game Description
"El Cerdito Encebado" is a traditional game that consists of catching a little pig dipped in oil or butter, and whoever manages to catch it takes it home. But in this game you will be the little pig and you must avoid getting caught at all costs in order to earn your freedom.

How does your game tie into the theme?
The game is based on the customs, festivals and traditional games of my country. Music and art are representations of traditional Chilean festivals. And the mechanics are a variation of "Cerdito Cebado", a game that consists of catching a little pig.

Really cool game!

Played through your game on stream. If you wanted to watch me go through it ive got the vod below timestamped to your game. Overall extremely well made. The polish on everything with things like the characters turning around and the impacts on hitting the poles are great. Music works well, the mechanic where energy and health share the same bars is unique and works well and the mechanic to free yourself feels nice to use. Only real things I can say that can be improved on for post jam work are the lack of a shadow on the upper fences which makes them feel a bit off while items and poles have shadows and theres no indicators for the boss throwing bottles.

Developer

Hello! Thank you for trying the game and for the feedback! :D

Yes, there are still many aesthetic details missing, such as the shadows that I will resolve with updates, and the bottle indicator is a good idea, I hadn't thought of it. Thanks again! :D

Great game! I'm impressed with the level of polish!

I had so much trouble with the second level, but i'm glad i persevered! The third level was so cool, and i loved the end game animation :) It felt so great to escape with the music.

The game itself is pretty fun, even if i was a little bit frustrated by my terrible skills ahah.

I had some freezes at key moments (first person hitting a pole, end of lvl 3, beginning of the end animation) but i guess you already know about that.

Overall congrats, it's really polished! I will take a look at your other games

I really enjoyed this one! I love the use of rotation and squash-stretching in the sprites, it makes the characters look really fluid. The music and sound effects are all really well-done, too.

I had what felt like a galaxy-brained moment when my only pole was knocked down, and I maneuvered the last two people into lunging straight into each other. That made me chuckle. Didn't make it much further, though - hopefully I will make for good bacon.

Great submission! A fun game, feels pretty polished, and the music fits very well. Good job!

Holy mackerel! This is a fantastic game! Love the music, love the art, love the humor and love some of the surprises. The game feels fresh as hell. It's a very cool concept that I don't really think I've seen anywhere before.

The game feels intense but fair, and learning how to knock the people out was quite entertaining. That big dude on the last stage was a real proper boss-fight.

Only obvious downside is that it seemed to take some time to load some assets when some of the animations were playing out the first time, and it caused the game to hitch.

Probably the overall best game I've rated so far.

Thanks for your comment! That's right, I had a problem with some particles. I'm already working on an update of the game for after the jam, to solve that and other problems :D

Beautiful pixel art, I like the squish and stretch on the sprites. Very charming :)

Absolute favorite submission. Loved all the art, the core mechanic was very well fleshed out and clear to understand. The level of polish was also incredibly well done. Congratulations. I believe this might be the winner of the jam.

This is awesome, really fun gameplay loop!

One of my favorite submissions!

Really interesting mechanic with the enemies and the way you recover. Liked the strategy behind dealing with the enemies, getting the key and unlocking new areas.

I think you did a great job on it, the visuals look very good and the music fits pretty well too,

love this game!

This is so fun! I couldn't seem to figure out the AD spam escape sequence, I had the mouse inside the box but it wasn't clear if I was making any pig-gress (to be fair, I probably should just not get caught in the first place!).  The music was delightful, and EVERY time one of those participants knocked themselves out on the pole I couldn't help but smile.

Also, MAJOR kudos for getting an online scoreboard working, that can be quite the pain for an itch embedded game and it seems to work flawlessly.

Such a great game!  Awesome art, great music and sound.  Once I got the hang of dodging in between people it became really fun, till the third screen lol.  I just can't seem to take the bottle throwers out consistently.  It might be on me, but I seem to have some trouble getting the A-D minigame to register input while struggling to get free sometimes.  That is, however, my only complaint here.  Everything else is absolutely on point, and for me this was one of the better games of the jam I played.  Thanks for making it!

Never new about such national tradition, I think it's really cool that you've used it in your game for moar people to know. I also laughed whole time about villagers bumping into each other)) Awesome!

This was great!  It took minute to figure out what to do but it was really fun mechanic.

Amazing pixel art coupled with a cool music and original gameplay, that's really cool ! I won't lie I ran around the wood pole 3 whole minutes before understanding that I had to make the person hit it but I think that's my fault on that. I was really bad at making the folks hit each others but I somehow made it, thanks for putting so much stamina ! I loved that you even made a boss fight at the end with cool visual effects. Good mechanic to struggle when they catch you too. Amazing job !

Wow, that was a blast! All of the visuals were great, and the gameplay was super fun. I loved the cutscene at the end where the whole village was burning down because of my antics lol

Super fun game! I had a heck of a time trying to get the key from one of the NPCs, but I absolutely loved the getting caught mechanic, that was super cool to have to move the mouse and hit A & D to escape! I did hit a large lag spike when i first played when the first NPC hit the pole in the middle, but after that it was completely fine. I'm going to guess the game just hadn't fully loaded for me. Also adding the leaderboard was nice too because I definitely wanted to keep trying to get the best score lol.

Definitely a great submission!

Hi, thanks for your comment! That delay is due to the particles, I apparently did not export the file well for HTML, and the particles when they appear for the first time have that delay. 🙃 it's something I need to correct.
thanks again for your feedback!

Fun game! I really enjoyed it! The controls take a little get used to which is normal for a more unique system. The dive collisions also take a minute to get the hang of. My only real issue with your entry is the time stamping for the leaderboards. It would seem to me that the time  doesn't reset upon winning or losing? Perhaps on losing it does. But on a win it certainly doesn't. I was wondering why my runs got faster but my times got much longer.

Overall! A lot of fun. Cute art, clean presentation, and- piggy. 'nough said.

Developer

hi! Thanks for your comments! I don't know if I understood what you mean correctly, but in theory time should reset every time you start a new game, and time stops when you die (for the losinboard), or when you pass the last door (wininboard).

Now if when you win and start a game again the time was longer, maybe it's a bug and I have to check it :o

and by the way, the tables do not show the best time in order, but rather they show the last player who lost, or who won.

The A/D spamming thing didn't work reliably for me but otherwise everything was excellent
