I loved the music in the minigame.

Greg is gone! T_T

I wish there was a button to speed up the falling of letters and it was when trying to use Space for this that I discovered a bug ^^' You can select a file on the PC while in the minigame, which mixes everything up and gets everything confusing.

Congratulations on your creativity and for making a story like this in the short time of the game jam. :)

This is such a cool submission, I enjoyed playing every second of it. Your story really plays with the players' expectations and perception in unexpected ways, at times outrageously funny. Thumbs up for the Soundtrack and clever idea for a mini-game, too.

Developer

I am glad you enjoyed it. Just to be fair, the music I used was third party I didn't make it myself. One of these days I will explore making music more. I do some sound effects on my own but that is it.

I like this entry! I really enjoyed talking to the NPCs! And as a big Undertale fan I immediatelly see the inspiration XD - This is definitively a step in the right direction! However, there's always room for improvement ;)

Firstly, I don't know if it's intentional or not, but you can't really move in diagonals. You can also keep moving if hold A and D at the same time, when in theory, that should stop you from moving.

Lastly, the dodging letters minigame eventually gets kinda repetitive after a while. I'd recommend working on some more variation, for example, some letters could move verically, etc.

Anyways, amazing job!

Developer(+1)

The orthogonal movement was intentional. I am just a fan of it so tend to use it a lot.

Yeah the minigame was a late addition just to add something to actually do in the game. I wanted it to serve as a form of combat and have a period of time the player gets to attack back but couldn't work it in time. I was hoping to have the game end in some boss fight but ran out of time there as well and just cut the entire game down to much of nothing.

That's... not a normal office job... right?

Greg? Greg...?

I realy liked your game and you should be proud of it.

It was interessting and kept me wanting to know more.
the Undertale vibe was immediately clear and i loved every second of it :-D
Also greate music!
Once I got stuck entering "Day 2" (WASD wasn't working anymore), but i don't know how i managed to do that.

Overall a realy nice game and you should explore more in this direction. I think you got a talent for that!

Developer(+1)

I am sorry you hit a bug entering Day 2. There are a few bugs I know of but this one is new to me I will try to track it down. Having so many bugs in this entry has been embarrassing for me.

I am glad you had fun with it though. I do plan want to continue with a game like this at some point. Not sure if it will be this exact one but a puzzle adventure game is what I have been wanting to make for a while and just haven't found the right theme yet.

I liked this! I wasn't thrilled about the erase dodging letters gameplay but I could certainly see the Undertale influence. I stuck around cause the backrooms / "everything is not as it seems" vibe was intriguing

I really liked this game! I definitely did not erase greg from existence. The mini game of dodging the letters was fun and reminded me of Undertale (as you mentioned). I found it interesting on day 3 how the scene would change after you went down the hallway. Keep up the good work!

Developer

Yeah the minigame was 100% inspiration from Undertale. I went through a lot of variations of mini games one where the player would shoot at a corrupt file. But none of them really felt good so I figured replicate something good and focus on other things.

This game reminded me of old glories from the C64 era. Very cute, nice mini-game idea, just a small note: the falling letters game can be beaten just by standing on the right end, the letters will never hit you! Very very very nice game!

Developer(+1)

Ha I was wondering if anyone would catch the safe zone. It really depends on the sentence that gets used some have more characters the end up close the edge. Early on it was more narrow with a lot more safe zones but I widen the drop width at the end. I just didn't want to go too crazy because when letters would fall outside of the your moveable area it felt weird in a different way. Something I definitely would have kept iterating on if I had the time. I had grand ideas to have some attack patterns where the letters could come at different angles but had to settle for the simplest.

Weirdly engaging!

I managed to find a bug by purposefully trying to break the game:

If you exit the PC while in minigame, the music keeps going.
And it just keeps getting more intense XD.

Developer

I can't believe I never tried exiting the computer during a mini game. I went through the effort of making it so you can't close the window but didn't think beyond that. Thanks for the testing and feedback :)

I liked the characters that helped to guide you in the normal office. Also the minigame when I erased the files from the computer

This was pretty fun. I hit a bug part way through the story where I just kept walking into a wall and couldn't stop. I'm going to come back later to see if I can't finish the story. Really good job.

Developer

Oh no where did you get that bug? I spent so long on the last day trying to iron out any bugs so I am disappointed you found one and I apologize. There was one I knew where the if you were talking and hit a dialog spot you keep walking. I couldn't think of a way to fix it so had to just let it go.

Submitted

I think that's what happened I triggered a dialog while in a dialog. I really hate bugs where it seems like there's no good solution. I'll try again and I'll be more mindful of moving while in a dialog :).

Developer

Was this in day 3? Thinking back I know there is a spot where this will happen. I think I was able to avoid it in my testing because I moved through dialogue quickly because I didn't need to read it. Dumb of me, I should have tested as someone who would take a second to read.

Really cool game. I like the file erasing mechanic. Nice entry, I look forward to seeing more in the future !

Despite what you said about not being proud of your work, I thoroughly enjoyed playing your game! I loved the undertale inspiration and the story was funny! It was quite charming and the visual style was great. I think I loved Greg the plant guy. He's so quirky

Developer(+1)

I am glad you enjoyed it. There was so much more I wanted to. Give each person a personality and have each day focus around one person disappearing. But I really ran out of time and had to just hack in a quick ending.
