  • Presentation-wise, this game is absolutely flawless. The art, the music, and the post-processing all come together incredibly well! The premise itself is pretty unique, too, and the fact that the big enemy predicts your movements is excellent. It adds just the right amount of challenge. The biggest issue for me is the "score chasing" aspect of it. It feels like the optimal way to play is to die until the first screen has lots of points, and from there you've got to get lucky with how many it spawns. Maybe you should make it so every room has the same amount of them in it? That way you have to balance survival with greed! The polish here is off the charts, though, you've got options for sound, quality of life features like auto restart (though once I enable auto restart, I can't see the leaderboards til I reload the page!). Seriously great job! The scoring stuff is only a very minor issue. Well done!

great game, got hooked for a hot minute! would like to see weapons added, or like a pack man style power up where roles are reversed and you can kill the skeletons (unless there is and I just didnt figure that out yet). Great Jam submission!

Thanks a lot! Unfortunately, there aren't any weapons, but adding collectables to attack or dodge better is a great idea. There's a shield you get after collecting souls, so you can take one more hit.

Very polished and interesting pacman-like? Not sure what else to categorize it as.

My main issue was how unresponsive the controls felt which made it difficult to control the character. I think the problem is that the continuous movement isn’t really continuous and you have a very small window of time between letting go of the directional input and the game deciding whether you wanted to stop or move onto the next tile. It made me miss turns and die in ways that felt unfair.

another minor issue is that the spike pits were difficult to see due to the color not contrasting enough with the backgrounds.

The rest of the game feels very well made though. I loved the sound effects and animations and the gameplay was fun enough that I would have kept playing more if the control issues were fixed.

What an amazing experience. Gameplay is understandable in a few movements, art direction is superb, so is the sound design. And the JUICE !!! It really is an inspiration for a game designer student like me. Good job !

It's more like a survival game avoiding the attacks from the demonic necromancer while getting whitish flame orb for scores while you only have one shot to live. The gameplay is fun in general. However, it feels kinda difficult when I don't have enough time to escape the center of 5-10 tiles of incoming attacks. Nice game. :)

This is literally a full complete game. DAMN man. The UI, the transitions, the VFX, the sounds, the artwork. Very impressive to bring all fronts together in a game jam. The enemy attacks where you have moved - now that is such an interesting game mechanic - The fact that if you die its cause of your own mistake & you have to strategically think on your feet while moving itself. I could go on for a bit about how such a mechanic is really awesome to have but not gonna do that here and focus on your game 😂 I do wish there was a difficulty button cause it was slightly hard for me although after a while you do catch on so make what you will of that, Great to see how this has turned out. Top notch quality 👏

Good graphics and sound, the enemy AI is good and challenging, a very nice thing.

The controls are not as snappy as they should for a game with a maze like tiles, I need the character to be exactly where I need it to be, I think you are kinda giving it some inertia so the character doesn't stop right when I remove my finger from the button.

Thank you so much! Yeah, there's kind of an interpolation. When I was doing the snap, it would bug out and go through walls, so I decided to leave the interpolation for this jam version.

Very cool game! I like how it has a very unique and memorable quality to it. 

Lots of great polish too on the sfx, vfx, and animations. You did a great job of making the enemy feel very powerful and scary.

As for feedback I think my main 2 things are:

  • The controls felt a bit laggy/unresponsive. I think there's a slight bit of delay between hitting a movement key and seeming it reflected in the game? Not entirely sure what it is, but with snappier movement, I think I would have been hooked on trying to get a higher score for longer.
  • There were scenarios where it seems that there was no counter-play, and I was going to die no matter what I do. This is frustrating especially if you have a good run going, because it feels like you're losing to rng as opposed to making a mistake that causes you to lose.

Phew, what a rush. My heartrate is still pumping fast after finishing the game lol. It took me a couple of attempts, but I think I finally got used to it and managed to pull a score of 6600! First place on the leaderboards wooo.

At first the continuous channel spam attack the boss has was stressful, but as I got used to the game, that actually was the less stressful time and let me focus on collecting points as I knew how to reliably avoid that damage. The scariest thing for me was the big area attacks right as I was about to enter a spot. My brain wouldnt think to run backwards, but instead kept going forward, leading to my death.

Super fun game and I loved the boss in the middle and all of his animations. Super well put together game.

I'm a huge fan of this game, everything is done so well there's basically nothing to critique. Maybe as a suggestion the number of points per level could be within a predetermined range, sometimes the starting room only had a couple of points available which made it harder to accumulate a score.

Everything about the presentation is amazing!  I think the gameplay is fun but the controls need to be a little more forgiving. Make it a bit easier to hit turns. Very well done! Great Entry!
