Proof that you don't need flashy graphics to have an enjoyable game! If anything I loved having small parts of the map that you could fit into perfectly, felt very satisfying.

Really captured the feeling of a Metroidvania by giving the sense of freedom locked behind upgrades.

Very nice entry, sfx are good, artwork is simplistic but works with the gameplay. I like how you used flipping the rectangle around to fit into places (like a crouch/roll). Pacing is fast and didn't feel stale or drawn out and I like that you had some hidden areas thrown  in as well. Good job!

I have a weak point for fast paced games lol. Movement was smooth. It felt like the upwards velocity on the jump was inverted, which I guess was weird but I'm no expert with jumps that vary with long presses. Music was super good. Neat entry!

Nice entry! I like how sometimes it goes all very smooth with the jumping and dashing around. I'm not a big fan of hidden passages (because I miss them all the time) but with this, I felt like I was getting carried around and lead towards them.

Very well done!

Fun game. Abilities were cool, I became a rat! I also liked abusing getting hit by enemies/bullets to get really high. The world layout was also cool with all the hidden passages and the wraparounds. Nice Job!

The music is admirable. Something reminded me of Nier: Automata. The game is funny, but I met bugs, for example: dash can be used too often, which is why you can pass through walls.

But the idea itself and once again the music is interesting.

pretty fast paced, I like it. zooming and jumping around like there's no tomorrow.

Okay, so, um, this was just an absolute blast? Like super fun. Like, I didn't want to stop playing, and I'm probably going to play some more tonight after rating a couple more games.

Feel like the lack of dying did benefit the game, but I still feel like, since there are enemies there, they should serve a bit more purpose. Don't get me wrong, it was fun to dodge them if I felt like it, and it was probably even more fun to just fly through ignoring them (and it was maybe even more more fun to try to use the little thing that happens when you get hit to get a bigger jump, haha). But I still feel like their presence just comes across as a little weird.

But seriously, I can't say enough how much fun I had with this. And, in my opinion, fun is the absolute best thing a game can be. Excellent work.

Thanks :)
enemies - Yeah I agree, I wanted to spend most of the time making levels so the enemies are super simple, more like something from a mario game where you are better off just jumping past them. but I like the idea of having something moving on screen, idk maybe I will try some moving platform or bumpers or something in a another jam :)

Very fun game. Controls feel very snappy and responsive. game feel is also on point

That was pretty nuts.
The fast pace and music really kept you hooked.

I cheated a little, by clipping through walls.  Not sure by how much though.  Certainly only later into the game, I only used it to double back on bad paths I had taken... and maybe I abused knockback to get a couple of places I shouldn't have been able to.  Who's to say?

And I think I managed to beat the game without getting the third power-up.  Not sure if it wasn't included, wasn't necessary, or my aforementioned cheating contributed.

I'll post ay gameplay recording when I upload it.

Thanks!

The knockup was intended, but the clipping was not! Although I kind of like the clipping, so I'm thinking about maybe using it as a mechanic in a different metroidvania game...!

Yeah, it's a little tricky to do, but it is possible to skip the final upgrade.

Here's my playthrough: Ruin Forest by E.T.C. Lundberg
There was a sound issue. so there's only music.
EDIT:  To clarify, it was the recording not the game.
I just overlayed the track you sourced so it wouldn't be silent.

Developer(+1)

I didn't realize it was possible to use the clipping so much, I think it might be a delta time issue. I can only do it if I stand up in rate tunnel! But yeah, I'm planning to fix it after the jam. Thank you!

This game is extremely cool! The huge open world, the enemies, and the precision platforming are all really nice to play through. The "become a rat" mech is especially innovative! Good job!

Wow, I really enjoyed the controls in the game. Well done. They feel pretty slick tbh

Really enjoyed playing at the feet of the great tree can't say the same for my spacebar. ded.

Great map design flowed beautifully got up to 70% will try the 100% seems doable!

I thoroughly enjoyed this delightful, straightforward game. The minimalist graphics evoked nostalgia for classic arcade games. The character controls were impressively smooth, and the VFX, especially for the dash, added a nice touch. Kudos on a job well done!

I loved the overall feeling of the game. It was super fun! I like the rat mode the best.

That was fun, really generous.

I really enjoy the mechanics on this one. Controls are nice and satisfying.
