Description
Action packed orchestral music for an first- or third person shooter where a spy has to move fast since the clock is ticking - disarming a bomb, escaping some bad guys or catch someone after a chase, You know, the typical day in a spies life.

Message from the artist:
Music done using FL Studio and a bunch of plug-ins.

Theme:

Tick Tock...

How does it fit the theme?
The idea is that the clock is ticking for our hero and the music is trying to reflect that the time is running out

Suspenseful pieces that get the heart racing! Felt like I was in an action movie. :) The complex range of sounds and instruments made this very interesting to listen to, and your incorporation of the jam theme was great and nuanced. Funnily enough, while I was listening to this, a couple of police cars drove past my house and I thought to myself "wow, the sound in this track is really immersive" before I realised, hahaha! Awesome work, really enjoyed this!

Haha, well... Who knows ;) Thanks for the nice comments and for listening - highly appreciated!

I feel like I gotta get moving!! This had the perfect amount of tension and percussiveness for an action game. Pretty intense, but not intense enough to get in the way of gameplay. Awesome music!!

Thank you for listening and for the nice comments!

First few seconds hit me like a wall of bricks! Really good and while atmospheric, still being pretty concrete and speed evoking. It would fit action FPS game really well. Even more it would fit a action scene in a film. Nice job! :)

Thank You for the comments and for taking the time to listen!

It's like Mission Impossible but Cyberpunk. In simpler terms, very epic. I find the little clicky percussive sounds in the second track to symbolize the lack of time pretty well.

Developer(+1)

I tried to get the percussion to play the role of time ticking (and the time running out fast), so I am glad You picked that up :)

Thanks for listening and commenting!

I love the held tension just aching to release in both tracks and the super high quality production. Note to self: write a chase scene for the next jam, and use these as a reference. Awesome work!

Developer

Well, that was a really nice thing to say, thank You so much for listening and commenting!

That's really great chasing or pursuit themes! Could sound good in kind of an action movie, well done!

Developer

Thank Your taking the time to listen and comment - the feeling of chasing and things having to be done in a hurry was what I was going for :)

Nice work! I love the motifs you build with in the piece and the percussive work plays so well into the theme. Very action packed!! I really enjoyed them!

I get where you were trying to go with this, and I think you succeed - the orchestrations are correct, I enjoyed the subtle clock ticking sounds, I think they were well placed. I liked the 8va on the violins in the intro section; I personally would have liked to have more dynamics on the strings in general but that's more of a style/preference thing; objectively I can't fault anything here, so well done.

It's tough because the jam this year is so stacked everyone's going to find tracks more or less to their own taste that are all excellent.

Developer

Thank You for Your comments and for ttaking the time to listen! Glad You found the subtle clock references, was honestly not thinking anyone would get them :)

It is tough to rate the different submissions since there is an abundance of both styles and (game)genres and, as You say, it depends a lot on ones own taste.

Impressive job with the suspense feeling, fits perfectly with the description, congrats!

Developer

Thank You for Your feedback and for taking the time to listen! :)

I really enjoyed the percussive elements of your music. You did a great job building suspense and your music fits your game description perfectly.

Developer

Thanks for the comment and for listening! Glad I managed to get the feeling I wanted across :)

Very nice sound design! I sense strong inspiration from the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (2011) soundtrack. I had countless hours in that game.

Thank you for the comment and for listening. While I actually do like that music (and Bryan Tyler as a composer, so this a huge compliment to me), any inspiration was subconcious as I was more inspired by the Jason Bourne soundtrack (though I admittedly didn't really end up there). Listening to MW 3 I can absolutely see what you mean. :)

Well done legend, keep composing!

Really nice blockbuster sound! It's definitely worthy of an action/chase sequence. My only nitpick is about the percussion (I hear some NI Damage/Evolve?); maybe they could be lowered a notch in the mix and make the orchestra shine a bit more. Other than that, nice work!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for listening and for the feedback. I always find mixing (and mastering) being tricky - I see what You mean with the percussion, though for me it is the staccato strings (in "Alleys ...") that are a bit too loud in the mix, depending on where I am listening - ran out of time on that one. And You are correct - Damage was used in both tracks :)

A very cool and different take on a spy game theme. Spy vs Spy does really nicely set the scene, with a lot of tension already (as others pointed out) and Across alley and roof tops ramps up the tension even more. However, I would start the playlist with Sneak in - Rush out as it ramps up more gradually. That said it ramps up the most compared to the others. All tracks are very rich in different instrumentalizations, which kept me very engaged.

Developer

Thanks for the comment and for taking the time to listen. "Sneak in..." was the first track I composed, but the game I imagine would be non-linear so the music could come in any order really.

First track is very tense from the start with that dark Phrygian Dominant sound. Gives me a chase sort of vibe. Second track gives me a sort of cyberpunk vibe, while also reminding me of Metal Gear Solid. Great work!

Developer

Thank You for Your feedback and for taking the time to listen. My vision for the second track was actually a more futuristic setting (albeit not really cyberpunk), with our hero sneaking in to a highly sophisticated laboratory or research facility, and then have to dash out - glad I managed to convey that. As for the first track, it is more like a rooftop/alley chase (think Jason Bourne).

Great composition and production! Definitely felt what you were trying to convey. Nice work!

Thanks You for the comments and the feedback, glad You liked it! :)

I can't say I've seen many FPS game 'soundtracks' (platforming or adventuring games seem more common) so that hooked me immediately.  The two tracks absolutely set the scene with immediate tension that was perfectly backed by your instrumentation choice - outstanding work!

edit: I write up my comments before I read anyone else's for each game so they're not influenced, and just saw how many comments referred to the feeling of tension!!

Developer

Thank You for the comments and for listening to my tracks, highly appreciated!

Excellent job on the tone of your soundtrack! Straight out of a tense spy thriller.

Developer

That's exactly what I was going for, so I guess it worked for You :) Thanks for the comment and for listening!

OMG THE TENSION!! It's amazing!

Thank You!
