Description
My fictional game would be titled Two Worlds, it is a 2D platformer/metroidvania that challenges your way of navigating the world where the boundaries of reality are constantly shifting.
You incarnate a Fox (Dark in Light world and White in Dark World) in search of his true path. As he delves deeper into the dual worlds, he must confront his own fears and insecurities, growing stronger with every challenge he overcomes.
Main mechanic: Seamlessly switch between two parallel worlds at any time, navigating through intricate levels with a unique timer and cooldown system. Each world offers distinct challenges and opportunities, requiring strategic thinking and precise timing.
It will be a necessity to switch between worlds or else no progress will be made. For exemple Dark world offers different powers/abilities and level design will morph with it.
Interactive Soundtrack: Dynamic musical experience that evolves as you play. The soundtrack transitions from light to dark seemlessly at any time in the musical soundtrack.
Each track has a "softer" side and transition into a distorted/glitchy and sometimes ominous vibe to the Dark side. So I created all the music keeping in mind that they can switch at any time from one mood to the other.
Track no 1 - Two Worlds
This track is the introduction level to the game as everything is unstable and we can hear some distortion in both light and dark side of the soundtrack but more since it is the introduction of the main mechanic of switching to dark side we stay longer in the dark side.
Of course in game it will work but for the sake of the Jam I did compose some custom transitions to make it work even better. A looping can be made from 0:14 to 0:43 when the main theme starts and transforms with the transition into dark. There whole track can loop from start to finish to but it is not the intention as in the game we want to switch at any point
Track no 2- In Between
We are used to the mechanic and are able to switch from Light to Dark easily, this track is way more dynamic and uplifting . At the end of the track we can still hear that we are not fully in control with the glitchy/distorted effect putting us back.
Track no 3 - Amidst
We are in perfect control of our abilities, the soundtrack can switch perfectly from Light to dark at any time, good for speedrun strat, using with almost no cooldown between the world switch we can navigate the levels with more ease. Loops from 0:12 to 1:12 (Light) perfectly with 4 bars intro and from 1:12 to 2:12 (Dark) which can be crossfaded at anytime using a transition mechanic.
I used Nuendo 11 for mainly all of the MIDI and musicale aspect of the composition and Reaper for the Sound Design.
Message from the artist
I had a blast doing this interactive soundtrack, wish I could've done more. Hope you enjoy listening as much as I did composing :)
Theme
How does it fit the theme?
Inside my world : My game features a unique mechanic that constantly switches between two sides of the same world: one good and one bad. As you journey through this world, you'll need to navigate both light and dark realms to reach the end. This duality represents my personal vision of the world.

Really great work. I like the cinematic IDM combination going on, it reminds me of bits of Monument Valley 2. The sound design is top notch, and the composition is varied and interesting while also being able to fit into a game well. If I could offer a tiny bit of constructive criticism (although I struggle to find some) it would be to create a more tangible sense of contrast to fit the games theme of two worlds. Overall, definitely one of the best I've hear thus far.
Thank you very much, never heard of Monument Valley 2, gonna listen right now. And I would like you to expand on what you mean by a more tangible sense of contrast, you wanted a bigger difference between the light version and dark version of each tracks or a harder transitionning system ?
Oh I'm getting some serious Ludvig Forssell meets Chris Christodoulou vibes from this - great layering of synths and strings. Mixing is top notch as well; everything sitting comfortably. Really admire how each of the tracks is unique but still cohesive with one another. Think you may be a frontrunner with this, best of luck!
Thank you very much, its really funny that I barely or never listen to these two composers so if my inspiration came from that its a pure coincidence, glad you enjoyed !
Oh my godness, what have you done ????? Hum, please, next time… can you warn us before making us listen to such a masterpiece as if it were just another Monday? Never stop what you're doing, because it's deadly beautiful. Now please, I need warnings next time, okay, otherwise my little heart won't last long.
Alors ça c'est un commentaire de fou, je sais pas quoi dire à partir le plus gros des merci possible, quel complimement, je pouvais pas recevoir mieux.
These are great!
Really like your use of percussion throughout. The synth tones are also very good, as well as some lovely piano tones.
The flip between soft and dark is very well done on all the tracks, the little glitch effects you use are very satisfying too.
Whole thing is very well mixed too.
Thank you very much :)
Nice and crunchy distortion, it's put to very good use throughout the soundtrack to illustrate the instability, it feels like reality is about to breaking at any moment. The idea of crossfading between the light and dark sections of the track was well executed, I flipped back and forth a couple times to get a feeling between them and I can imagine it being quite seamless in game. I especially enjoyed the dark section of Amidst, it really felt like a great climax for the game.
Don't think I have any complaints, it's an interesting game mechanic and a well executed soundtrack to compliment it, kudos.
Thank you ! You're probably the first that tested out the switch to see if it truly works as intended :)
Very well produced! Big fan of the creative use of saturation throughout. Every track has a very tasteful bit of break-up and crunch which I’m totally onboard for! Extremely well mixed!
Thank you very much, glad you liked the production :)
Gosh this is good, one of my top picks for today for sure! The end of Amidst with the descending notes were so soooo silky. incredible job, good use of the theme, the interactive music idea is awesome and what I want really is to play the game now :)
Thank you very much, really happy you liked the vibe and the idea of a dynamic system :)
definitely loved the idea, would like the game now please xD
The interactive music idea is really cool. The dark and light versions are contrasting enough that the difference is noticeable while still being cohesive enough so that the transitions aren't distracting or jarring. My only complaint is that I can't play the game that its implemented in.
Thank you, nice compliement ! I wish I can create a game too but unfortonately i'm bad at all the other roles that is required to make a game XD
First interactive music soundtrack that I've seen so far, very cool. Transitions were really smooth, although it might have been fun to get a Two Worlds (Light Mix) and Two Worlds (Dark Mix), and similar for the other tracks. Totally understand the format for releasing during a jam though. Really good exploration of the concept!
Thank you ! Yes indeed I do have the extend of all the dark and light version of the tracks, just wanted first to render a better transitionning system to make it seem more flawless for the jam.
Wow, this is like basically perfect for me. I'm a sucker for interactive music and the concept of opposing worlds, so this hooked me in immediately. But your sense for composition and sound choices is exquisite. The way you described your game linked with the tracks perfectly, it really made me want to actually play this fictional game of yours. My only real problem is that there isn't a game to go with this, amazing work!
Thank you very much, super happy it fits the genre you're looking for, thanks for listening and having fun with my game concept :)
Amidst is the highlight of this submission to me! But you had a vision, executed the composition with that vision in mind nearly flawlessly, and submitted something super special that feels cohesive and is all around interesting to listen to. Well done!
Thank you ! Highlight of the submission is huge, great compliment, super glad you liked it !
I looooove how you focused a lot on the gameplay aspects of this, and that the ideas for the music mostly stem from them. The dual world that you can switch between is a fun twist on the theme, and it leading to adaptive music is awesome. I'm a big fan of when songs in games have layers which change depending on where you are or what you're doing, and your songs capture that really well. Of the three songs, Amidst is my favorite, and I think if this were a real game, it'd be a satisfying and memorable experience overall.
Thank you very much, very detailed comment appreciate you taking the time to do this.
This! This is how finalised music should sound like, properly mixed, mastered, balanced... Great work.
Musically entertaining, you know your stuff obviously. Great work! :)
Thank you !
I loved every instant !
Thank you really appreciate it :)
This is incredible! Love the ambient vibes, this is something I could listen to for hours. So sad there's not a playable game for this soundtrack haha
Thank you, I'm really glad you enjoyed :)
