Description
You play as Jeronimo, an obsessive inventor whose work and strict routine encompasses his world. The game is rhythm game set in a steampunk world, where you press keys following the pattern displayed on the screen. Every time you press a key, your screen cuts to Jeronimo completing an action such as taking a step, swinging your hammmer or eating food. It's similar to the filmmaker Edgar Wright's quick cuts.
Track 1 - Jeronimo's World
You play through Jeronimo's daily routine, where he works best once he gets into a rhythm of work and rest. The instrumentation changes as he travels to different places, but the notes played give you a hint of where his mind is at. At the end of the track, Jeronimo receives a call from his brother. He says that their father is in poor health and may not have much time left. His father abandoned him and his brother when they were children, leaving their aunt to take care of them.
Track 2 - Buried in Work
Jeronimo refuses to see or talk to his father and tries to get back to work and his routine. However, his brother is persistent, and keeps trying to convince him to say his goodbyes. Jeronimo eventually loses his patience and disconnects the phone, but is unable to quell his frustration. He attempts to work even harder to not think about it. Eventually, he collapses from exhaustion. There are dissonant sounds to varying degrees littered throughout the track to represent the Jeronimo's frustration as he bottles up all his feelings.
Track 3 - Word Processing
Jeronimo wakes up in a hospital bed. A friend called for an ambulance when he found him on the floor his workshop. Jeronimo rests and contemplates his feelings towards his father. Once he has recovered, he sets off for his workshop. He slowly approaches his rotary phone and calls his father at the hospital. He finally says what he has wanted to say all his life, and then says his goodbye.

Message from the artist
I wanted to create a full story with just music, foley and ambient sounds.
There are parts with no music to help the listener understand the foley and ambient sounds. It makes it easier to identify them later on when they are combined with other sounds. Sometimes there is no music to release tension and to let the track breathe a little.
Theme
How does it fit the theme?
Jeronimo is an obsessive inventor who lives to work and follows a strict routine. He does very little else; both his work and routine dominate his world.
In addition to that, this soundtrack is written from the perspective of Jeronimo so the sounds you hear may not all be accurate, they are a representation of Jeronimo's perception of the world during this difficult period.

Really interesting choice in the sounds. Actually love when everyday noises are put into music and rhythm! That's a really great submission and so fun besides!!
Fantastic use of the various mechanical sounds, field recordings, sfx and things of that nature, really creative!
Completely fits your narrative and the theme.
Love the little melodies, motifs and percussive elements you bend the sounds into and the way you develop the pieces as they go on, very well composed throughout, great use of space/rests/silence too.
I like the use of silence, and the many choices of SFX are very creative and add a lot thematically and rhythmically. "Buried in Work" is probably my favorite I like how it builds and gets more tense and higher in key and tempo overtime, really conveys stress well. The story-telling is amazing, this was a fun listen.
"Jeronimo's World" was a fun, percussive tune. I enjoyed the mallet melody. The moments of rest added a pleasant surprise.
"Buried in Work" features many similar elements to "Jeronimo's Word" so I won't repeat myself, but I will note that the gradual tempo increase towards the end added some nice tension.
"Word Processing" is a much more relaxed, legato piece, a fine juxtoposition to the other two pieces.
Hi Aesaire!
Your work is very original, I'm always captivated by music created from sound design. And your sound design and mix were super clean. This is definitely a wonderful OST!
(By the way, I'm following you on Itchio)
Very well done and cinematic clocked-themed entry! Liked Winding Up the most!
I looooove the instrumentation/effects choices made in this submission! Very unique! And all the pieces work really well together so well that I can almost se the imagery in my head of the scenes you were describing. Great job!
You took me so much by surprise with the cling that start the song, I misclicked and hit follow and like the album... that's crazy!
Jokes aside, your use of sound design as a complete part of your music makes it standout a TON compared to most other submissions. The mixing and mastering game is on point too, I wish I could have that covered so well on my own submission.
Amazing!

Amazing! One of my favourites of the jam!
I love the sound design in this, it's so good! All of the sounds are timed and layered perfectly, and the evocativeness and physicality you get from them is fantastic. Really amazing work!
Love your use of foley into the composition, really adds the mechanical edge to fit the "inventors" experience. Sound selection here was very good, incuding the mallet instruments, with emphasis on sharper transients. You were able to storytell with the foley really good within your compositions, making it flow in a more cinematic manner than most. Would love to see how this would play out in a real-game/scene!
I love the creative use of machine parts and foley to really evoke a physical world. Each track is intricately crafted and fits Jeronimo's character well. I NEED to see this animated or on screen somehow!
Very nice audio storytelling and creative use of instruments, as well evoking a bit of a different feel from the first two pieces despite using a similar palette. Absolutely nailed it on creativity.
Ultra clean mix, original voice and sound, great storytelling through sound alone. I second Fox's comment, this is a hidden gem! The tiniest nitpick I have is that I may wanted a consistent melody leitmotif throughout, maybe a theme for a character or such? But to be honest, I think what you have accomplishes your goal crystal clearly. Great job :)
Hidden gem alert right here. Super super original the mix is very well balanced thank you I appreciate that alot. Using the percussions with some clocking sounds thats great. I don,t know if the "rewinding" was the goal of this track but if yes using the pads in reverse is so great I love it. Well done !
Yes, there was the idea of "rewinding" present in Word Processing, but only as far as introspectively looking back into the past. Thank you for the kind words, I'm glad you enjoyed it.
I love your use of sound effects within your compositions. It's integrated very well. Your soundtrack is super bouncy and groovy/funky and I dig it a lot. The last song caught me off guard with the pace change but the musical story telling is super creative. The steampunk setting fits well and I can perfectly envision Jeronimo at his workshop living his regimented life. Great work!
Wow, when the last song came on, it pinched my heart. The atmosphere is powerful throughout. Ultimately it's a little gamestory with a moral, you can feel it in the music. I was also afraid that he would wake up and go back into this hellish loop again, but no, he had a beautiful ending , thanks. Your music reminds me a little of the feelings of Stanley Parable, with the search for a kind of liberty, but here instead it’s peace (with his father but also his mind). Your composition particularly stands out thanks to the sound design, it’s really a strength. Because we see the images, we believe we are in Jeronimo's world. You managed to make it very captivating and immersive. Thanks and may the odds be with you :)
Haha, I'm sorry if I gave you the impression that something bad was going to happen, it was just dramatic tension. Thanks for writing, happy to hear you enjoyed it Good luck to you too, I think you'll do very well.
Incredibly creative use of clock one-shots and foley! Some absolutely stunning compositions. Got a wonderful sense of eeriness in the last track as Jeronimo says his last goodbye. You’ve nailed the vibe, I can literally see the game as I’m listening! Well done!
Jeronimo's World: The sound of clockwork! Very bouncy.
Buried in Work: Sick rhythm. Love the constant key changes upwards and tempo increase. This nails that building frustration feel like in your writeup. Such a cool idea!
Word Processing: Love the pulse like SFX. Emotional track that matches the scenario you gave.
Great work, very creative OST! All the SFX was a treat to listen to.
Very strong submission, the soft anvil hit instead of a snare in Jeronimo's World was a nice touch. Really like the rolling feel that you set up in some of the more rhythmic sections. Foley also has some really good flow in the track, which isn't easy.
