A spooky well paced game: starts of nice enough, then elevates with small signs, then gets higher again with scenes.
The story and dialog was well written. Would be nice if the dialog was quicker, or the skip just showed it all, rather than skipping it, but it's ok, in a way I think the slow pace helped. The chase scene I think could've used some chase music, those 100 seconds or so, I felt it, even if I was running in circles.
The art style, was fine, I bet the artist would have preferred to have more time! It was good to play a complete game.
I made a video of your game. It's at the beginning of this video. Apologies if the audio sounds off. The recording device I used to record the footage had a de-synced video and audio. So I had to use Sony Vegas to sync the video and the audio the best I could.
This game gave me the chills - it was great! The voice acting enhanced the tension of the cutscenes/gameplay and it was cool to see a bit of backstory during the first cutscene. It's been a long time since an indie game creeped me out like this, which is something I was hoping to see in this jam. Looking forward to seeing more games from you & the teams you work with in the future.
Analog horror cutscenes are great, really adds to the vibe, and must say: The kind man really really throwing some shade with his last comment. Anyways, interesting playthrough, the attic moment was highlight for me, less is more and all that, great impact. The chase or surviving section was bit off for me though, like not sure if I bugged it or something but nothing happened. It could also be that I'm the master escapist lol. Regardless, overall good experience, so good work!
(Also lmao, I remember your previous Scream Jam games, fun to see again!)
The start felt like an old cartoon that I was watching on VHS, so cool! I think it would've been cool to have that aesthetic through the whole thing, and then to see the monster in the more 3D rendered style to really show it was not part of that world.
Aw, poor kids. I wish the cutscenes and the dialogue were faster, but the game gave me a lot of creepy vibes, which was good in a horror-themed jam.
Moral of the story: don't trust strangers.
I enjoyed this, it was a short game with a pretty good story (poor kids bro) and the man was in fact very kind. The post processing helped this game very much and I really liked the brief kinda animated portions, it did good for the story, and liked the subtle VHS hiss in the background.
10/10. Holy shit that was one of the best games i saw here. The visuals look awesome.
Just got a chance to try out your game! Love the story and cutscenes, as well as the art style you guys did! I think having some sort of chase music or voice lines from the masked man would've intensified the chase scene a little more but overall great job with the game, I really enjoyed it.
Good job! That game was good. The cutscenes and the story where both really good. And the overall aesthetics where good. But I personally had problems navigating through the house because everything looked the same to me. The chase at the end was a little bit boring, because the man wasnt very fast and evrything kinda looked the same again. But overall you did a pretty good job with the game, ngl.
poor clint :(. For real good job! I would have liked an option to see all the text rather than skipping the dialogue immediately (or making the scrolling a little faster). 2 minutes felt like a long time after I figured out you can just run in circles without this kind man being able to catch up. A couple tweaks and you got a great game!
Nice work. The man is unsettling. I really like how you made cues for where rooms were but left us enough in the dark that every corner was a little terrifying.
This is amazing, great work! I chickened out of playing it in fullscreen lol. The story was interesting, I didn't finish it but I downloaded it to try more later.
The mismatched art styles between the characters and the Kind Man really add to the creepiness of it in a simple way. Good work!
