Fun little concept. As you mentioned with a bit more time some parts could be smoothed out. Sometimes it felt a bit hard to get the game to register simultaneous button presses. Being able to skip dialogue would be nice, especially because I died in the second level and had to sit through the whole intro again. I really liked the art direction, especially the floor tiles

Super cool! Really cute art and unique game! Especially for 24 hours!?!?!? Good job man!!!

Loved all the music and the pixel art was very nice too. Concept was very clever, though I realised you could kind of cheat by putting some of the inputs in while the text was still playing and triggering bridges etc in the level.

The tutorial text went by a little too fast in places, I think it would be better to let the player read at their own pace (and also would allow them to skip through it, as it's quite lengthy).

Thank you so much for your feedback and kind words! I'm going to fix player being able to play notes before the level actually starts (I must admit that was an unspotted bug) and definitely going to allow him to control the pace of tutorials or skip them altogether. I did think about that during development but ran short on time and had to prioritise other aspects of the game. I'm glad you enjoyed playing the game!

Really cool game, I liked the vibes and the gameplay was fun. Good job!

got past the lengthy tutorial and finally start gaming

game ends in one stage

still love it nonetheless

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for your feedback and kind words! I agree that the tutorial is a bit lengthy (I had to develop it a few minutes away from the deadline so it is far from being perfect). However, stay assured that more levels are to come, especially if everyone is so enthustiast about the game to keep asking for more!

Cool concept, had fun !

It's amazing that this was completed in 24 hours! It's a very cool concept, probably my favorite in terms of rhythm games. I did have a little trouble getting the timing on the F notes, but that's likely a skill issue on my part. And I love the art style, but if I had one tiny nitpick, I think it would be great to have the main character be just a little brighter. I have bad eyes, so I find it helpful to have a little more contrast between the character and the environment.

Overall, great work and a very cute game!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for your feedback and kind words! I've never thought about balancing the cat's contrast with the background, definitely something I'll keep in mind for future projects. Thank s for playing the game!

Great idea! I finished the game quickly, but got slowed down by the text tutorial explanations. The game is easy to understand and already complete on its own.

Developer

Thanks a lot for your feedback and kind words! Will definitely work on improving the tutorials so that no one gets slowed down when retrying a level.

Really liked the concept and the sound effects.A suggestion, For tutorials you should give control to the player while read the instructions, for example pressing D will show the next instruction and A to read the previous one. I died in the second level then i had watch all the pop ups to play the level again.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for your feedback! I agree with you, players should be able to control dialogues. I've been asked for a way to skip them a lot in the latest comments and was going to implement it before submitting the game myself. However, I ran a bit short on time and had to prioritise other features, so the only reason for it not being in the game now is lack of time. I think controlling dialogues as you suggested might be even a better idea, as the player could get more control over the tutorials' dialogues and learn how the game works at his own pace. Will definitely work on that after the jam is over. Thanks a lot for playing the game!

Music + pixel art + cats + platform. Amazing work, I'm stunned that you had only 24h to finish this game!

Thank you so much for your feedback! This kind of comments really pay off!

I loved the idea of this game and I'm thrilled with the art. It could use a few minor improvements, like allowing dialogue to be skipped or refining the controls, as the inputs can be a bit clunky at times. However, I'm sure this is a concept worth pursuing beyond the jam

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for your feedback! WIll definitely add a skip option to allow the user to skip the dialogues (I was going to implement it, but was running short on time and prioritised other aspects of the game) and improve the controls. Thanks for playing the game!

I liked A LOT this little game. Great idea the combination of music and platform runner... In my top list. I have an idea to make a runner game involving a poem with music and this game gave me a pair of ideas to develop it.

Some things to improve

- The long tutorial message, specially the second level (Arghh!!!).

- No options or credits (I think).

- Sometimes pressing the two buttons at the same time don´t work well. It´s a problem I had in my game too (so I made a different combo).

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for your feedback and kind words! I agree with you on the long tutorial messages, I was running short on time and had to develop the tutorials quickly so I might have made a few mistakes here and there. As far as the options and credits are concerned you're right! I submitted the game at the very last minute so I completely forgot about it😅. Will definitely push a fix after the jam is over.

Submitted

Hahaha, the same for me. I made a credits screen that jumps into the game after 2 seconds XDDD.  It´s usualy the last we do when running out of time hehe.

Submitted

what a cool idea!! I LOVED the game over sound effect. having the option to skip to the next tutorial message with an A+D would be appreciated! 💖 great work!

Developer

Thank you so much your feedback and kind words! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed playing the game. I'll definitely add a skip option for the dialogues, and your A + D suggestion actually seems to be a great one😉

Submitted

The game is quite novel.  Layouts were good.  It's a nice idea, but I found it tricky to press both keys simultaneously.  Post-jam, just add more keys.  Your game could turn into something like a platformer version of Guitar Hero.

Let players skip monologues.  When losing a level, I had to wait for the level information to complete.

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot for your feedback! I was planning on adding a skip option to let players skip the dialogues but couldn't manage to get that in time due to time constraints. I agree the A + D input might be a bit tough sometimes, it was a way to add more functionality to the game while still following the two buttons theme. It turned out to be one of this project's main challenges, especially given the 24 hrs time constraint, but improved a lot during development (although will definitely need some more work). I'm aware adding multiple keys would be an easy solution, but I'm not sure how that is going to fit the jam's theme.

I like the graphics a lot, and interesting take with melodies :D

Love the art and color scheme, the polish is incredible for the time constraint. One minor thing that intrigued me was how well executed your tutorial system is and made for an easy entry into your game and its mechanics. The switching animation between the tips was very smooth and fitting. UI is one of my weaknesses and it definitely showed in my submission, so it was cool to see how you handled it! I found yours to be my favorite game so far overall, so i want to offer a bit of friendly criticism that i'm sure just resulted from the short creation time. The A + D input was a bit tough, and most of the times it would register as A followed by D. I'm not familiar with godot and it's input systems, but i share similar struggles in unity. The second thing, especially after i just awed at your tutorial UI, is i wish i could skip it, especially after i had to restart the level. I'm sure that was on the bucket list somewhere. Very cool game, well done!

Developer

Thanks a lot for your feedback and kind words! I agree the A + D input might be a bit tough sometimes, it turned out to be one of this project's main challenges given the time constraint (I improved it a lot during development, but will need more work on it). Also, I was definitely going to add the possibility to skip the tutorial but couldn't manage to get that in time since I developed the tutorials 1 hour before the deadline.

Fun little game with a great concept, the pixel art looks really nice and its quite a lot of fun to play as a cat making music. Great work!

Developer

Thanks a lot for your feedback, I really appreciate it!

This game is so cute. I expected some meowing instead of notes haha

Developer

Totally agree on that! It's just that I'm not a composer and couldn't find a way to get that so I opted for simple sounds given the time constraint.
