amazing puzzle game!!! I really have a lot of fun with it, love the burnt animation haha it's amazing, my only comment would be that the jump probably needs a little bit more power, besides that amazing entry!

Submitted

like the puzzles and level design and the art but the controls were a bit finicky (also why are we just dumping gallons of water onto the people instead of helping them?)

Submitted

Pretty good, I liked the pixel art. The jump doesn't feel very good. But other than that its really good.

Fun game!

Sometimes fire won't go out no matter how much water I pour (

And cute sprites!

Really nice game and good theme implementation.  Great art . The difficulty was a bit high for a jam game. Got myself stuck in some levels. Early levels can be designed such a way that players dont get stuck. Also controls can use a little improvement.

Great and fun game! I love the art style and the animations (especially the death one). The implementation of the multi-use was very well done.  From time to time the controls felt a bit unresponsive, but luckily the levels were short enough, so I didn't mind the restart.

really cool game, haha!

played for some time

great art, really cute

Fantastic art style loved the death animation. Controls could be improved a little and maybe have more puzzle elements because it gets repetitive pretty quickly other than that great potential!

The style is awesome! I love the death animation (sorry, I'm a horrible person haha)

A view things I noticed:
Sometimes, when standing too close to the fire, the fire won't be put out.

In one level I ignored a fire because the tank was empy. There seems no punnishment for not putting out some fires. Is that intended?

I love the art style and the whole presentation. The pixel look is really awesome and the fire fighter theme with managing and using water in different ways is a nice interpretation of the jam focus.

I think the game was a bit too hard and unforgiven. In several levels I just got stuck because I did the thinks in the wrong order or because I jumped down the wrong wall at the wrong time. For me a puzzle game like this is always more enjoyable if there are multiple ways to solve a problem and I can feel smart. Maybe there are ways to integrate a more open way of designing puzzles into your game too :)

But overall it's a pretty nice game and I enjoyed playing it. I could totally see myself playing a complete version of your demo game. Great work!

Developer

Thank you for your feedback! The intention indeed was to have only one way to solve the puzzles, but I understand that is not that good. I'll make it better once the jam is finished. There are a lot of feedback like yours about unforgiveness and put down time, and etc. I plan to change somethings to make it more enjoyable and fix some bugs.

I loved your game too! I'm sure it will be at the top 10!

Having a fixed way of solving a puzzle is also fine. I would not say that this is wrong or not good, it's a design choice :) I think making it a bit more fair like maybe having a bit more water than needed to toy around a bit and not get stuck because you "wasted" a tiny bit of water would be a good idea. Or maybe adding a health system, so you don't die immediately. Random idea: Instead of killing you directly when you touch a fire maybe just increase the heat bar in a fast way. This way the player can still escape or even run through a single fire and use the water to cool him down. There is definitely potential in your game. And fire fighter much cooler than the devil :D

Thanks. I'm glad you enjoyed my game too!

Really Cool Game, I Didn't Really Know How To Play At First But Later The Game Felt Really Good After, I Like The Art. That All, Good Game ;P

Thank you! I'll try to make it easier to understand!

A great take on the theme, reminds me of a Ludum Dare 50 game that scored within the top ratings. Nice graphics and mechanics. I found several little glitches/bugs that, on their own, are small, but on the whole hinder a little bit of the experience (water sound looping, horizontal acceleration a bit high, tutorial text could not be dismissed, one time the player fell outside the level etc.). The most frustrating one was that the fire and water collision masks are a bit finicky, so I could be standing right next to the flame aiming the water at the base and it wouldn't put out the fire at times. Also, it wasn't really clear that you did not have to actually guide people out of the level after cooling them, so I was stuck for a bit on the first level to save people.

Thank you for the feedback! I'll adjust some things later on and your feedback really helps!

The graphics are amazing and I love the simplicity! ^^

A unique take on the theme. Could have progressed the level mechanics faster though that's more just nitpicking. Drinking water felt like want rather than a need. Overall a strong entry.

This looks and sounds great. The music is catchy, the color palette is beautiful, and the animations are snappy.

Unfortunately, I tried over 10 times and still can't beat the first screen. The controls are a bit too slippery and the "heat" mechanic, which slowly kills the player even though he's not visibly touching the fire, is just too much for me.

Calibrating difficulty in a jam game is always Sisyphean, because balance requires iteration, and there's not much time for that in such a short development cycle. In this situation, I have found that it's best to err on the side of making a jam game too easy, rather than too difficult. (I found this out the hard way: many of my jam games were just too hard...)

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback. I'll change some stuff with the controls later on.

Submitted(+1)

I’ll echo what everyone is saying about the good graphics, but also wanting tighter controls and more forgiving resources/hitboxes.

Also not sure how to rescue the people? I’m stuck

Developer(+1)

Hey! Thank you! I'll definitely adjust the controls and movement later. To rescue people you must water them. The trick is that you don't have to put down all the fire in the level, just jump above the smaller ones. Hope you try again and finish the game!

Thanks for the explanation! I got a lot further this time. I guess to add to my constructive criticism having seen more of the game, the cactus bounces are a little inconsistent, and the puzzles feel very exacting (like you need to water the exact right things the exact right amount of time)

Submitted(+1)

Great concept  and implementation with outstanding art & sound!

Some constructive feedback:

  • Make the controls a bit tighter.
  •  Add some visual/audio feedback for when your water is extinguishing the flames.
  • Maybe be more forgiving, have more water than needed on the level and don't do instant kills.
Developer

Thank you for your feedback! I will adjust those things once the jam is ended!

Really nice game! It fits really well on both the Theme and the Multi-Use Focus. The art and music/sound is really nice, everything feels very polished. I found the bouncy cactus a bit unreliable, I didn't always get the high bounce and jumping or so didn't seem to change anything. The big fires took pretty long to put out so you had to wait for quite a long time.

Great game, well done!

Developer

Thanks! I totally agree, all fire should be quicker to put out. About the cactus, I couldn't solve the problem in time, so I just kept it like that hahahaha Definitely something to work on later. Thanks for the feedback!

awesome artstyle incredible lightning a nice approach to the focus and the theme , you did an amazing job on this a well deserved solid rating from me!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I'm glad you liked it!

Very nice game! A neat idea, really fits the focus/limitation. The concept of saving water is really unique and the art is very cute! Of course, there is a firefighter and flames and stuff, so it fits the theme too. Really nice animations. I was a bit frustrating to die at the end of the level, and then do it again. Maybe you should make a health system, or make the fire put out much quicker. The movement is a bit sloppy, so I slid right into fire sometimes, but that's okay since it's the your choice. I'll say it again, I really like the art, animations and graphics! The 2D lightning really fits the style!

Good job overall. :D

Thank you! I'll adjust some stuff in the game after the jam is finished. Your feedback really helps! ;)
