How does your game represent "Power"?
The most useful version of power is the ability to influence the world around you.
Using your influence and control over denizens of the underworld, powered by the souls of the damned, you attempt to claw your way out. There is only problem... you can't move. Using only your powers of control can you try to escape.

Very cool aesthetic and atmosphere!

Just takes a little bit of effort to get the hang of the mechanics. I also was at a loss for what to do when I ran out of resources on one run so I had to press restart (0-cost minion couldn't get me out of my spot).

I think this would serve as a strong base for a Rube Goldberg machine type of game.

I really like the vibe that you had going with the characters, the little animations, it had very impressive art! The procedural generation can definitely add replayability, and high scores/a leaderboard would be awesome! I like the idea, just feels a little rough around the edges with the movement. Great job!

Nice Idea and really cool graphics. I also really like the Setting. A small tutorial which indroduces you to the minions and some concepts would've been nice,
but other than that a really nice Game.
Oh and also, the background Music was perfect. It was catchy, but not to obnoxious.
I played it much longer than I originally planned haha :D

Thank youuu for the kind words !! I’m glad my music wasn’t annoying or too distracting. We will continue working on the game post game jam, adding more variety like we wanted among other things, so stay tuned ! Have a rabbit pic:

No it really wasn't, it was perfect for this type of game.
Thanks for the rabbit pic, I really appreciate that!
I definitely will keep an eye out for the game! <3

Interesting gameplay, amazing atmosphere - I really liked the visuals, how exploding demon worked - kept using that one to fly around :)

Thank you for the game! <3

Very interesting game!

Ty!

Okay, that was really interesting game, I don't think I've seen anything quite like this before. The art's quite beautiful too!
It is also rather difficult, I keep dying around 70m mark. xD

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing!

We didn't really have time to balance the game difficulty lol

Developer(+1)

70 is pretty good! We're definitely going to work on balancing soon after this.

Wow, what a creative little game! The art style looks super dark and well-crafted, even your itch.io game page looks really well done! Clever mechanics, cool music, fantastic art, and a creative little puzzle platformer, nice work!

Developer(+1)

Ty! Tried going as dark as I could without losing charming character design and went through a lot of iteration on the color palette.

Thank youuu !! I’m happy to hear you enjoyed my background music 🐰 Have a rabbit pic:

Interesting design, monsters and their abilities are cool

pretty dang fun! strategizing what guy to use was a good time. I like the procedural generation also!

Submitted(+1)

Really creative design! I love the way that the different denizens allow for very different playstyles. I tried pairing the snake guy with the screaming guy to pull myself up and then  push myself over. After awhile I would just grab the bomb guy and send it until I died of fall damage. XD

Great work!

120M, 90 souls collected! Woot! Cool art style, impressive map generation, fun hook. Overall fun and unique, nice job! (Exploding guy is the GOAT but also shout out to the RIP block)

Developer

120 is the best i've heard so far! Good stuff!

Submitted(+1)

lots of fun once i realized you can place the bomb guy ANYWHERE lol. all the summons are well designed as a toolkit and visually.

This is great! It manages to still pose interesting puzzles using the tools you have but with (I assume) randomly generated layouts. It reminds me a bit of the Trine series in the way that you just have a bunch of random physics tools to get from point A to point B. The art and music is also fantastic. Best score I got was 68, I will update this comment if I do any better :)

Developer

Omg haven't thought of the Trine series in forever, I might go back to those now just because you brought it up.
Decent score hope you get to climb higher!

Very fun. I only played a few rounds but to me the exploding one seemed the most powerful so I almost exclusively used that one. I think I would have preferred if the camera stayed on the player so you wouldn't lose by falling out of the edge of the screen, but instead, you would only lose when you run out of the energy orbs, but I'm not totally sure. Great game nonetheless!

Developer(+1)

I agree. I found out early on that the bomb was the most fun to use, so I wanted to make the other minions ways to help the bomb, or to get out of specific sticky situations. Sadly we didn't have time to fit in as many minions as we wanted. We deliberated on whether or not to have the camera follow the player or not. While we went with no, I agree that the focus of the game should be on your maintaining your souls so maybe we should reconsider. There are a lot of things that I would change if I had more time.

This concept feels very fresh and I would love to play a development of this game. It reminds me somewhat of games like Mr. Snoozleberg where you need to help your character get somewhere but without actually controlling it. Thanks for the experience. Also loved the music. Cheers.

P.S. Thanks for letting me blow up imps.

A neat concept. Gotta love creative takes on platformer controls. The visuals are also very cool.

Submitted(+2)

I loved the visuals, all the graphics are so well done! The animation, the menu... Everything is very well done! I loved the music too, super catchy. The gameplay is a little tricky for me but I understood the fun behind it. Good work guys!

Developer(+1)

Thank you thank you thank youuu !! I’m very flattered to see you found my background music catchy 🩷 We’ll continue working on the game after the jam and I’ll write more original music :) Have a rabbit pic:

Game looks very good! Lots of fun. I got stuck in a platform once, but i think that was my fault (i had other ways to go)

Good work!

Developer

Thanks for playing!

There is quite a bit of jank with the collisions that I would have liked to address given more time!

Submitted(+1)

the visuals are amazing! I'm very bad at it, so only got to 40m, then the fucking skull guy pushed me off instead of helping me (stupid goons). Very very fun concept and definitely very unique as the first game!

Developer (1 edit)

40m is a good score for only a few atempts!

I think if I were to do it again, I would just spawn the skull guy on either side of the player regardless of whether there was a platform below him.

Submitted(+2)

nice work! fun idea—i couldn't get very high but really enjoy the concept!
