A very good Zelda-like game with beautiful and cute Gameboy Color graphics. I gave straight 5/5 to art. I love 2D topdown Zelda games  released on Gameboy.

Boss design is visually very good, i like the attack patterns too, combat was fun but they don't have phases and fights are a little bit easy in jam mode but that's not really a flaw considering that the game has a hard difficulty option as well.

Music and soundeffects are also fantastic. They capture the GB feel perfectly.

Controls are tight, no confusion, no delay. They are very responsive. That's also 5/5

Overall, there's not much to criticize in this game in my opinion. It's fun, well polished and looks absolutely gorgeous. I'm not sure but i think this game has a very good chance to be within the top 10 games of this jam.

Great work!

Good job! Will come and play it more thoroughly, trying to get through a basic test run and at least give it a try! Trying to get to everyone I can!

solid 3.5/5 ! Great job
if you can re-save or re-rate ours all of our previous ratings were deleted by mis communication… sorry for inconvenience

Best of luck! If you get the chance to read in time!

Really love this game! Authentic to its core and great realization. The only downside for me was the lack of challenge progression, I encountered the spear dude as my first boss and after him all others including the final were really easy. But besides that - great visuals, music, bosses and so much fun!

Bosses' weapons yay! Retro-GB style is great!

Charming GB zelda style art, bosses didn't have a massive healthpool but atleast on jam difficulty i could just mash the attack button and get the win on them

Really loving recreation of the 90s pixel art aesthetic and sensibilities that looks and plays great. :] I love the authentic music and art direction, and of course the great many references and allusions to the games that I grew up with. As with anything, there could be some refinement, but the variety of weapon styles and strategies you can employ made this a really fun and charming experience.

You nailed the gameboy style. I was just thinking how it would be cool to be able to change your powers and then I hit the fires in the main area lol. I wish you could have mixed some of the powers but other than that very cool game.

The bosses felt good too. I think the red power is a bit too strong but other than that great design and work done.

SUPER charming gameboy style, I loved the use of the theme and the addition of the final bosses weapons on replay was a great addition, definitely one of my favourite entries I ended up playing it twice, great job!

Small criticisms
I'd maybe be a bit more generous with hitboxes, also seems like usually the most effective strategy for bosses is to tank hits and keep attacking, though hard mode slightly remedies this. I think the easiest way to stop this would be to add a bit of knockback when the player hits a boss with a melee attack.

This is one of my favorite games from the jam! I love the retro vibes of the music, art style, and gameplay. They're all  really well done. I enjoyed the option of two difficulty settings and found that the "jam" difficulty was an appropriate level of challenge for me. I liked the different bosses and their mechanics and I enjoy how you incorporated the theme into your game. I would love to play more of this game!

Little cute game with juicy pixel art and mechanics. Well done!

This game deserves a full version, it was a lot of fun, everything is just perfect, as this game is perfect, please create a game like this with more content.

Starting with the bad, I felt like it was incredibly easy to beat both the "Jam" and "Hard" difficulty. The scythe attack from death was a bit unfair sometimes because of how fast it is and how big the hitbox seems to be...
With that said: there was enough variety of bosses and attacks, the weapong exchange was really neat and felt like a nice change of paste and it looks and sounds quite good!! Overall it's still a really fun game and a very good entry for the jam no doubt :)

Super cute aesthetic, super fun gameplay. My biggest complaint is that the hitboxes for some of the bosses/attacks felt a little too big, but everything else is damn near perfect.

This is actually really good! I initially tortured myself by starting on hard mode and decided to revisit it on another day to give it more time to simmer. All I can say is, after unlocking the final weapon, hard mode is so smooth sailing.

Some thoughts:

- Very good pacing and bosses are all so unique to each other. The gameplay is actually not what I'm accustomed to as I typically play very fast paced action-games reminiscent of modern trends today (I'm talking DMC, Armored Core, Sekiro) - but I still strongly enjoy this in the same way, having to learn boss attack patterns and dodging accordingly. The red knight and the final boss are stand outs in this aspect.

- The exchange mechanic is much more well built than I believe anticipated. Whether it is intentional on your part, I think the exchange mechanic somewhat extends to the health/mana system and how if you use mana skills, it gives health, and vice versa.

- Expanding on the first point, I find that I can just almost brute force the green and blue boss (or yokai, in this case) with the reaper weapon with little repercussions, even in hard mode.

All in all, game is actually super well paced and adequately challenging. Very fun! Easy all 5 stars for me.

Very good job!

This is the good stuff.  This gave me serious Megaman vibes and the themes fitter perfectly with that.  The art style and mood are really on point and the animations of the bosses and attacks are really satisfying. Great work, and  good luck!

Awesome game, felt great to play! I love the animation too and that you added a hard mode, great stuff!!!

One of my favorite entries so far.  Balanced gameplay. Everything is polished. Controls are GREAT.  Sound effects are on point. Just pure joy. The intro and outro looked very much like Castlevania. Amazing game.

It's all really well done I cant say much more that that and what everyone else has said! Just please add controller support please it's gets painful having to mash z and x haha!
