Game's Take on the Theme
Concept of Mana in the world of this game relies on SPIN as a way to gather and use mana for all sort of things.

Playroom

Yes

I made a Multiplayer game using Playroom

Did your team make the majority of the art and music during the jam?
TLDR yes and no. Half of it is a big asset pack, which then has a lot of modification to make it fit, but there is a lot of original art as well

If not, please link to any asset packs or resources used here.

A really fun and cute game! I can't believe how well you blended the asset pack together, and the UI animations are pretty damn amazing, the damage increasing with combo was really satisfying. Kind of wish the window build wasn't broken cause i was stuck at around 40 fps (maybe it's just my laptop). Still i had a lot of fun!

my web goes at 20-30, youre living better than me lol

Amazing game! So well-polished! I had so much throwing vegetables around xD

Submitted(+1)

It was a bit confusing at first but once you get the hang of it the game feels satisfying.

What a cute game with some of the best UI visuals I've seen in the jam! Especially great with the moving portrait and animated boss titles, I can tell you put a lot of attention and love into making the game's vibes feel perfect. Building a combo felt like a great way to encourage the player to stay on the gas but also plan their angle of attack to maintain the combo multiplier.

I saw this many times during the month on Discord and have been really looking forward to playing it. My only critic is the tutorial needed maybe just a bit more love to explain the actual attacking mechanics, but I was able to work it out pretty quickly which I think speaks to the way it is implemented. As others said I did originally think the boss was quite tanky, but after realising how I could quickly build up the combos, it got a lot easier.

I think the combat has more depth than a lot of games, which is why it isn't quite as intuitive, but that isn't a bad thing. I also think this is original compared to a lot of the other entries i've played so far, which is great and refreshing in a jam.

The design and UI are very well done. I like the attack mechanics and the art style. The use of music/sound is a bit more confusing; I think the audio should be better adapted to what is happening on screen ;). Still, it was fun! :D

Developer

oh yh this game was lacking in the sfx work lol, sorry for that

When something cute hides something challenging! xD I really liked the game design and the overall feel. It's very polished for a one-month jam. You did a great job, GG! ❤

Really good and polished game, I like the concept of growing stuff and then throwing them against the boss. My favorite part of the game is the combos, which was incredibly satisfying whenever I managed to get them. My only critique is that the bosses take too long to beat, and I think if they had less health or if the player did more damage, it would really improve the pacing of the game. In any case, the bosses were still fun to fight and overall this is a really good entry!

Developer(+1)

wow youre halfway there to get pro, the higher the combo, the more damage you do, and it goes up infinitely!

Submitted(+1)

Actually insane how polished this game is, notably with the UI animation. I love how much energy they all add to the experience of the game. Its also really cool how much you built on top of and sort of expanded on the asset pack you used (again, especially with the UI elements. I really dig the main menu and pause menu). It didn't even feel like an asset pack was used when first playing. The gameplay is very engaging and fun too with the sheer amount of juice in it. Only minor compaint is that the bosses take a pretty long time to defeat, but its not a big deal at all

Developer(+1)

yes lol i should have a better tutorial to explain how to get crazy damage, it is there, tldr you can use the star tool, hold it with >100 mana and you can run into the bosses like beyblades, also every ten hits in a combo gives you burst damage and it gets stronger the higher the combo gets

Submitted (1 edit) (+1)

Cute concept, and unique for this game jam so far.  Fight took a LITTLE too long, but i jumped into the 2nd island, maybe its harder.

Developer

yh my tutorial was kinda wack, it explained that you have a combo system that every 10 hits, you get a burst of damage, and it gets stronger the higher the combo gets

Submitted(+1)

pig is op, couldn't beat him lol, still game is a banger love the art and sounds loved having plant pets, i just hate the pig

Developer

...pig? there is a cattle, and its mother cow, which one was it? the water boss or the last boss?

Submitted(+1)

oh, the water boss , cattle one i thought it was a pig cause it was pink, my bad

Submitted(+1)

playroom didn't work at all, but game is still fucking good. VERY good.

Developer

There was a bug for syncing your plants where i accidentally try to sync 20 plants even tho there isn't that much from a player so it just breaks >_>

Visuals and Sound Design are amazing, bosses feel very tanky but maybe im just doing something wrong. Very good overall!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

yh feel free to go thru the tutorial again, it talked about a move where you can bash thru enemies like beyblades, also theres a combo burst damage where every 10 hits you get a burst of damage that stacks the longer the combo gets

tbf it is too much text for many tho so sorry XP

Submitted(+1)

Loving the visuals and the absolute chaos! Great work!

Submitted(+1)

This game is so cute, the game feel and the music are so nice, the sfx needs some more love but overall its pretty gorgeous!

Submitted(+1)

very very very fun =) I love it, the music, mechanics, character, design, everything... this is the better game for me so far <3

Submitted(+1)

Interesting and fun gameplay. I don't know if the boss health get scaled with more player. But when alone it feels too high. Not made it harder just too high. just my opinion of course. That aside, Good work!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

well there are some mechanics that contributs to a lot of damage, for example you using the star tool to dash/ram into enemies like beyblad and the extra burst damage you get every 10 hits ( which scales up the bigger your combo gets )

Submitted(+1)

The game feel here is incredible from start to finish! Everything from the camera to the text to the animations is just oozing responsiveness and energy. Incredible work!

AN AMAZING BOP! FROM START TO FINISH!

It has a chaotic, energetic, fun gameplay, with kirby sound-a-like music ( which is perfect btw ) and some really good design and attack patterns! Also, the use of assets was great! No copy and paste, just expand!

Some INSANE amount of POLISH was put into this, and it really makes it shine.

My only criticism is that it took some time to learn the controls of switch tools in frenetic action, but other than that, throwing little guys at crazy speeds is really fun! The spin mechanic is all what the theme asked and it's great!

I don't know if this criticism is really valid, I'm quite tired, anyway, wonderfull game! Good luck!

Developer(+1)

Nah you good :P the criticism is valid. I had some design choices but in the end I stuck with the switching tool cuz It gives a deeper gameplay and something that the players do have to learn to master! Originally I was gonna make it like 4 separate buttons, it'd prob would have made the game so much easier XD

Submitted

XD

Well, the current implementation isn't bad, it's a new learning curve! The four buttons would be easier, yes, but this should stay too, kinda like the Minecraft/Stardew Valley hotbar! You know, press 1 goes to slot one, press 2 slot two, scroll to change fast and vice versa.

But hey, it was a game jam, the game is heck good, the best I played that's for sure! Congrats :D

Developer(+1)

the slot system... might actually be a great idea!...... except that'll be 5 buttons lol anyways yh thx for playing!
