The music is a banger, and the visuals are really silly and amazing! movement just feels lackluster as well as combat. Other than that it's still enjoyable!

(PS: If you're willing to I'd love it if you can rate and leave some feedback on my game! This is my first ever jam and I'd love to see where I can improve for the future!)

It's a pretty silly game, I like the art it's cute and the music is a banger, I like it but it's very hard to understand. I didn't get that the only way to deal damage was with the cannon and that it automatically shoots and you just have to aim it, which is a neat concept. I'd like if you could make it spin in the other direction because if you overshoot it's game over most of the time. There is little to no feedback if you hit the boss, maybe make the boss sprite flash white or having an SFX play when he is hit, that'd also help with knowing if I hit the boss when they are at the right or the left because aiming in those directions is very hard because of the perspective, it's also very hard to spot projectiles that come from those directions because they look flat at certain angles, maybe make it so that the sprites always face the camera no matter what.

Pretty cool concept!  The music slaps and I liked the animations.

It was really difficult to aim the cannon left and right because it's hard to tell the angle due to the perspective.  Perhaps some sort of crosshair on what it's aiming at could help.  The cannon only moving one direction was also tough because if you overshot the angle, you would have to spin all the way around again and hope you didn't overshoot it again.

In fact game made on compliments and pluses from Cuphead and Pizza Tower. 

And all this mixed with petscop style.


Yeah, that’s hard to make, but I think if I (with my friend Ivan) win and get some money from this jam, we will post Hatgame on Steam in Early Access, OR in Full-Full edition.

Really fun and unique boos fights :) my only complain is that the player is kinda slow, making it feel a bit sluggish to control. But i honestly quite like the art style. very reminiscent of pizza tower

Heya! Thought your game was really cool. After the jam, I think you should completely rework how the cannon works, maybe using q and e to rotate it 1/8th every time. You should also rework the bosses; I think the designs are super unique and cool, but the mechanics of how they work aren't too interesting. Including some lore could help too. But in my opinion, if you rework the cannon and bosses, the game becomes what it was meant to be, which seems like a super cool experience. The music was tight, the art was cool, overall a good experience. Good job, and I hope I get to see more of this.

Oh, I saw your hat in Discord!!)) I'm really glad I finally stumbled upon your game here. I love how you combined the 3D environment with 2D characters and objects—it looks really cool! Although some elements might be worth converting to 3D in the future. There are definitely things to improve and expand upon, but even so, I'm happy that you managed to submit everything on time!! This is a great project that's definitely worth spending some time on. Awesome work!!

I liked the style and how well the animation is done, I believe the game has a lot of potential to improve a lot more! I think there could be some way to press a button to be able to spin the cannon, because if it goes a little past the target, you have to spin it all over again. Congratulations on the game!

Cool entry!

I liked all the 2D art and animations you made. Spinning the cannon to change the direction you are attacking in is a cool concept!

The mixed use of 2D and 3D assets do not complement each other well here. It is incredibly hard to tell when I am going to hit a wall and be teleported to the center of the room. It was also hard to tell where the boss' projectiles are since 2-dimensional things are a flat line from the side view. After finally figuring out the first boss can actually be defeated, I had high hopes for defeating the second boss. The second I saw that guy doing constant 360 movement, I had to resign.

Overall, the game's character and concept are there but it needs more playtesting and refinement. Good job on getting this submitted on time! It is an accomplishment just to finish a project.

I think in full-full version of Hatgame all projectiles will be in 3D.

(then I will also fix the movement from the walls in the full version)

Also, what did you mean by difficult to define in 3D space?

Here is an example of what I'm talking about: 

This is your projectile. The square is your 2D sprite. The wireframe is your collider (invisible in game).

As you can probably see (or not see) the side view makes the object completely invisible to the renderer while the collider still has full volume. This means that the player can get hit by invisible things. I hope this makes the problem more clear!

I didn’t have time to do web build! I was doing bug fixes in last hours.

 In fact, I think game isn’t polished enough. Tutorial is boring, and “don’t understandable”. Low quality and value of core mechanics and gameplay. 

Songs are pretty, but boring. 
So… I really need to complete game to it’s perfect version. 


Anyways, Thanks for your small feedback. After jam I will do small update and (maybe) complete game to version 05 (but if i win, i think I’ll start kickstarter or something to make full-full game)

i dont fully understand the earth-shakers in the basement, or the basement. the trening arena didnt let me spin the cannon, and so at first i wasnt sure what i was meant to be shooting or if it was working without a healthbar, until swampster inexplicably died. returning to the center of the arena anytime i bumped something was also a frustration point. sussy caves felt unfair to me being bombarded with fire and really feeling how slowly the cannon spins & fires. i wish maybe there could have been buttons for rotating and firing the cannon. cool entry!

Hey this game is really cool! I like the vibe it goes for, it makes a lot of fun moments and the C dance gives it +1 point because it makes me remember club penguin.

 The only thing I found dificult was the spike between the first boss and the second, but hey, it's fun! I think if you added shaddows on the fire it would be way easier to dodge! Anyway, great game!

what you meant of “shaddows” and “spike”

"shadows" mean that the second boss's fire could have a blob shadow, just like the player, so it's easier to know where it is and to dodge it, as it's 2D.


And "spike" means the second boss was way harder than the first. The tutorial boss was really well balanced, but after that, the player feels a little underwhelmed when they don't even stand a chance against the second one. Being harder isnt the problem, but being way harder is. Hope I cleared that up!

I couldn't enter the practice area, only after a restart. That made it really hard to figure out what to do at the start.

I loved the paper-like parts of the artstyle, I wished the rest of the art would be in the same style.

The music and rhythm of the game was really good and helping with the fights, if I'm not mistaken the bosses attacks are in sync with the rhythm?
