Game's Take on the Theme
Concept of Mana in the world of this game relies on SPIN as a way to gather and use mana for all sort of things.

Playroom

Yes

I made a Multiplayer game using Playroom

Did your team make the majority of the art and music during the jam?
TLDR yes and no. Half of it is a big asset pack, which then has a lot of modification to make it fit, but there is a lot of original art as well

If not, please link to any asset packs or resources used here.

Been having my eye on this game since day one. Very cute aesthetic and made great use of the asset pack. Love the HUD, it's so lively. The game overall feels alive and you can see how much passion and love was put behind it.

My only nitpick is that is kinda confusing how you manage to deal damage to the bosses, but I do like the idea. Besides that I am granting 5 stars to this game, this game is so good.

I love the graphics and music, it's really fun! Maybe a bit confusing at first, but it's a very good game :D

I saw it on a hang out stream on discord and that was great. Visuals are very cute, especially the main character. Some bosses have more hp than needed, but it's not critical. It's very dynamic and fun to play.

Overall had a fun experience playing this game. Since the beginning of the jam I knew it was gonna be something great. Glad it turned out so well :D

This game has some pretty insane visuals!  While you are using a premade asset pack, the way you used it is really well done.  The gameplay is fun and simple enough once you get past the bit of reading at the beginning of the game.

I felt that the bosses were a little too tanky and the fight seemed to drag on a little too long, especially if you decide to throw your seedlings instead of use them to ram into the boss.  Throwing the seedlings would often spread them way too far out of the arena that it would eat up a large amount of time.  As a result, I would rather risk taking damage and ram into the boss since the overall DPS feels far greater that way.

Really neat stuff!

yh the combo system was buried in the heavy tutorial, it would have def helped push thru the health pool cuz in my experience i thought people would figure out how to get like 50+ hit combos to just shred thru the health in minutes

Submitted(+1)

i adore the way you utilized & developed on the sprout lands pack and i think the skills work well together.

the fights just last a lot longer than i'd like them to. i approached it on hard mode at first but over time (esp. on death) the music would start stuttering and not loop properly anymore. to escape this, i tried to reload the game, but my progress wasn't saved. so i replayed the game from the beginning with the difficulty slider all the way down. bosses still took forever and i couldnt get to boss 3 with music intact. and at that point, i didn't deal any visible damage to radio-hen after several minutes and gave up.

very stylish entry i really enjoy it

Developer

yh th tutorial didnt do a great job on explaining the combo system where if you can constantly hit the boss you get burst of damaage to help you push thru the big health pool, als the radio-hen as a mehcanic where itll fly up prventing you from hitting it and you just have to sit around and wait for it to come down

I'm going to be so real, I am awful at this game. I tried it on hard just for fun but i lost at the second area. Water boss is brutal, though good take on the theme and I loved how it felt. The movement felt so good, best part of the game along with the player kit. I enjoyed playing it a lot!!

Great game, the idea with planting is quite interesting! Both visually and gameplay-wise, the game is executed excellently, and the music fits perfectly. As a jam project, it's fantastic!! But I have a feeling you're planning to develop it further—I’d love to see a full version! Great job!!

What are the seedlings here for?

Developer (1 edit)

idk.. did you play the game???😏🤨
I mean youre literally turning lil crops into living bullets to attack the boss, im suprised for someone that played the game you didnt get it..
if thats not the case....
if youre asking for theme relevant in the seedling concept, no i didnt have a thing that specifically tying the seedlings and the theme, cmon read the theme implementation above.

Submitted(+1)

I didn't understand why add so many steps to generating bullets, and considered there might be more mechanics that weren't implemented in this demo. At first I thought they'd be like pikmins and you had to be a bit more careful to not lose them as resources, but you can just use the star and tackle the enemy forever.  Just checking if incomplete or intentional.

Developer

it is all intentional,

its... eh its not incomplete, (mainly cuz i have all the content thats was planned and needed for the full boss rush in there) if anything was cut out, i think i was originally trying to allow the player  to have custom set of seeds with each seed type having a unique function, the game doesnt exactly need it right now so it was okay for me to cut it, as for me complicating things, its just the farming aspect on mechanics not being your preference, and even then, i made it as least time consuming as possible so people dont actually waste time on the management of the seedlings, its kinda like a different take on ammo management, if you will.

so yh i think its mostly because of what you feel and prefer in a game that you prob expect to be smth else, i hope it doesnt hinder your vote because you didnt expect the game to be a certain way, so i hope you vote this game as what i meant it to be and whether it got there from your experience

also ramming into the bosses use wayy too much mana the more seeds you have so it is a double edged sword and you just happened to find a perfect middle point of balance using it lol, and if you tackle without any seedlings with you it doesnt do damage, unless you found a bug or smth feel free to share

I played it again to see if I was bugging out or goated, but I honestly can't say there's anything out of the ordinary. There's enough downtime after a bout to recover my stars spent on a clash and go for it again. The first cow was the only encounter that killed some seedlings and I had to replant them midbattle (which is when I started wondering why is this reload mechanic so long and also because I got hit because i forgot to change back to stars for a moment/pressed E on accident and switched.) To be honest, hearing of the special functions I understand the mechanic more, as different packs for different effects could give build variety, which probably would also allow for bosses to be designed around builds a bit more, so I can see that deepening the game.

Just as a final check, this time and no skulls on the final boss from someone who just uses stars, goes in and takes a step back is too slow, too fast, just what you expected? And concerning your worry about the rating, I saw this game as a beyblade game, and one of the few that actually let you use melee,  so to me it was  one of the best. I really just didn't get the long reload.

Developer

hmm great for you getting that record time, i dont know how much is too long for you so we should continue this in discord as id love to hear more to do some balancing with how well youre playing this game

Peak game, nothing that i need to point out peak!

Very nice art. Looks to be an ambitious game. The controls are every snappy and responsive.

Developer

itll prob be too ambitious if i try to make like twice the bosses ahah, man i could never

Submitted(+1)

The game's art direction is INCREDIBLE !!! The visuals are super cute, and the music is insanely catchy!! (Gives off the same vibe as Kirby). The concept is a bit tricky to grasp at first, but once you get it, it's extremely fun! The controls are smooth, which helps with immersion. Excellent submission!
Feel free to come, test our game, and give us your feedback!

It's really cute and good! I would actually like the boss fights to be a little bit shorter. Don't get me wrong, they are good, but even with increasing damage with hitting combos it felt a little tedious at times.

Other than that, great game!

Developer

gotte get good at it! you can beat the first three boss in like less than one minute each O.O the final boss is a bit stretchy but hey at least you can jam to the ost XD

Submitted (1 edit) (+1)

A really fun and cute game! I can't believe how well you blended the asset pack together, and the UI animations are pretty damn amazing, the damage increasing with combo was really satisfying. Kind of wish the window build wasn't broken cause i was stuck at around 40 fps (maybe it's just my laptop). Still i had a lot of fun!

Developer(+1)

my web goes at 20-30, youre living better than me lol

Submitted(+1)

Amazing game! So well-polished! I had so much throwing vegetables around xD

Submitted(+1)

It was a bit confusing at first but once you get the hang of it the game feels satisfying.

Submitted(+1)

What a cute game with some of the best UI visuals I've seen in the jam! Especially great with the moving portrait and animated boss titles, I can tell you put a lot of attention and love into making the game's vibes feel perfect. Building a combo felt like a great way to encourage the player to stay on the gas but also plan their angle of attack to maintain the combo multiplier.

I saw this many times during the month on Discord and have been really looking forward to playing it. My only critic is the tutorial needed maybe just a bit more love to explain the actual attacking mechanics, but I was able to work it out pretty quickly which I think speaks to the way it is implemented. As others said I did originally think the boss was quite tanky, but after realising how I could quickly build up the combos, it got a lot easier.

I think the combat has more depth than a lot of games, which is why it isn't quite as intuitive, but that isn't a bad thing. I also think this is original compared to a lot of the other entries i've played so far, which is great and refreshing in a jam.

Submitted(+1)

The design and UI are very well done. I like the attack mechanics and the art style. The use of music/sound is a bit more confusing; I think the audio should be better adapted to what is happening on screen ;). Still, it was fun! :D

Developer

oh yh this game was lacking in the sfx work lol, sorry for that
