Zoetrope Game's itch.io pageGame's Take on the Theme
Our game brings the 'spin' directly into the implementation of animations, showcasing an older form of animation with variations on an ancient mechanism that predates the age of animations, but in a much more technological environment. If you want to know more about what a Zoetrope is, we have an explanation on the game page :D
Did your team make the majority of the art and music during the jam?
Yes the whole game was made by our team!

really cool concept and gameplay which definitely encompassed the theme for the jam! all the art and mechanics fit together well so great work on this!
We are very happy with your comment, thank you very much for playing our game ❤️
The concept for this is so cool! The way you have all the discs in a row and swap between them to play out different character animations is actually genius!
The boss has TOO much health! I would have liked to try and beat it but going back to the first phase where it's really easy again for what feels like 5 minutes every time made me not want to go back after getting to phase 3 once.
The UI at the start was quite rough to look at since it seemed to be massive and quite low resolution, but stuff seemed fine when I got into the game itself.
The actual in game art is really quite cool and I'd like to see the concept done in a bigger game with more time to polish some of the background details etc.
Nice game!
Thanks for the feedback! We're already working on updates and improvements to this boss, and we plan to redo certain things like the game's interface. Thank you very much for giving us your opinion and for enjoying the game. We plan to expand our game and give it a good polish! Since this was our first game, we still didn't have much experience, but the feedback we received and the conversations we had with the people who participated in the jam gave us a better vision and a good path to follow.
We really appreciate you playing our game❤️
Very unique game, haven't seen another game so far about a zoetrope in this game jam! I like the art and animation style, has a lot of potential for future development!
I actually didn't realize that the boss was in the right hand corner at first, so I was shooting randomly trying to see what affected the boss health bar. I think it would be more intuitive if the boss moved around or was a prominent part of the scene. Overall I enjoyed the game!
Your feedback means a lot and encourages us to continue producing the game ❤️. We are already working on an update to the game implementing better ways to recognize the boss and solving other small problems as well! Thank you very much for sharing your feedback.
Hey! Cool visuals you got here! I knew about old animation methods but I would have never thought of it for a game jam! One thing that annoyed me a little bit while playing was the weird hitboxes when the bunnys fell, they were not on screen and still hitting me, maybe making they despawn sooner or have a smaller hitbox? Anyway, good job! It was fun.
We're so glad you enjoyed it ❤️
We're already working on updates to our game and will definitely fix the bugs with the hitbox! Thank you so much for your feedback <3
Very interesting take! maybe would add some more spin to gameplay itself but it was a nice play! :)
Thank you for your feedback and for rating our game, it means a lot to us ❤️
Very unique take on the spin theme. I appreciate the explanation on the game page. It really helped me grasp what the game is about. I imagine it must be difficult to make the bosses move around if you want to implement the bosses as a zoetropes. One thing I'd suggest is maybe instead of having one pillar in the room, you can have multiple pillars that can "open" and "close" so the boss can transition to different places. Just a thought
A great idea! Thank you very much for your feedback, we are happy to see that you liked the game. It means a lot to us <3
I'll find a way to implement something like this in the game! <3
At the start was kinda difficult to understand what was happening, but after understanding where the boss was and the size of the hitbox it was a interesting experience, very unique idea with a very cute character, giving a reason to the only one command at a time was a smart move!
This is such a unique take on the theme! I love the callback to Zoetrope-style animation. You can go far if you keep developing this concept. At first, I found the boss HP a bit on the chunky side, but the charged attack dealt significant damage. Some damage balancing might help; consider how many hits a boss should take before being defeated, multiply that by the player’s base attack damage, and fine-tune from there. I hope to see more from you guys in the future!
Thank you very much for the tip! Your feedback means a lot to us <3
We will continue developing the game after the jam and will implement the necessary adjustments, as well as more bosses! Thanks for rating us!
I loved the idea its so unique . and the game itself was so funn i loved it
Your comment makes us very happy! Thank you for playing our game <3
a really unique idea and very well implemented in the prototype, maybe get some inspirations from cuphead's gameplay here and there with your visual execution and you get a really great game from it!
Thank you for the compliments and feedback! <3
Unique execution here ! Would love to see some additionnal content :) Very good job !
We will add more content, and apply all the tips we received during the jam. Thank you very much for the compliment, it means a lot to us <3
I really like the whole 'zoetrope' idea. It fits the jam's theme really well and the implementation of it was quite good! Had a blast with the whole animations :) My feedback is to add an tutorial, because it was a bit overwhelming at first, and maybe some way to healing up?

Thank you very much for the compliments, we will be updating our game regularly after the jam and implementing many of the feedbacks we received here. Thanks for contributing<3
interesting concept, I really liked it
Thank you for the compliment, it means a lot to us. <3
Wow, I absolutely love the concept behind this game! :O It’s so unique, and I’m sure it’s going to stick with me for a while. I had a blast just running around and watching all the different animations before even starting to play seriously! Those white doves are definitely my arch-nemesis right now, haha. XD The idea of using a spinning vinyl disc for the animations is brilliant—it could totally be the foundation for an amazing game. I can really feel the love and effort that went into this, and it shows. :) If I had to suggest one thing, maybe consider lowering the boss’s health or providing a bit more justification for it. Overall, fantastic work, and I’m excited to see what you make next! ^_^ If you get a chance, I’d love for you to check out my game too! :D

Thank you very much for your comment, it means a lot to us! It really encourages us to continue the project, we really love to know that it was something good! Thanks for the feedback <3
Very creative player character, I just wish the different layers had more interaction with the boss attacks! Overall very fun and again VERY creative, this idea has a lot of potential.
We're so happy to hear you liked our project! :D We intend to add a lot more to the game as soon as possible and we'll be adding better ways to visualize the attacks and make the hitbox distances clearer, as well as two more bosses. Thank you so much for the feedback, it really helps <3
what a game
Thanks for the compliment :D
I liked it so much good job
We really appreciate your compliment, thanks for trying our game <3
The inspiration behind this is so unique and this game is gonna stick in my mind for a while, I learnt about something new and had a lot of fun playing the game. I spent a couple of minutes just running around and seeing all the different animations and how all the pieces moved before I even started to play seriously, those white doves are the bane of my existence right now haha, great game and really well done
We are very happy to see this, your comment makes us very excited to continue our project, knowing that the game is reaching the idea we thought is very good! We sincerely thank you for testing our game.
Sorry man. I am not able to play and rate your game as I don't have a windows machine. Good luck and keep on learning.
No problem! Thanks anyway for coming to check out and commenting on our game <3
