How does your game fit the theme?
You're a pilot who dives into tornadoes to retrieve cargo and materials. The calm is represented by the chill music during the time between missions when you're relaxing and upgrading your ship. The storm is the chaos of the tornado when the music ramps up, you're speeding toward the ground, everything is swirling around you and you're frantically trying to gather enough cargo to complete your objective.

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
With the exception of the fonts (fontsquirrel.com), all art, music, sound effects, and code were created by me.

I think the game got me a bit frustrated with the flying mechanic, but I still held on to it. This is well made, simple it some what fits the theme so you're quite on track. Very well done!

Thank you! I appreciate you taking the time to check it out and leave feedback!

I seriously like this, this was 5-star fun, the gameplay loop is great and I was genuinely fascinated by the way the game was rendered, like for a while I thought it was just a very well executed optical illusion, but I think it is actually fully 3d.

It is not enough to simply be a pilot--you must be a Funnelbuster. A pilot fears the winds that he cannot control, but a Funnelbuster exploits, morphs these winds to his own control. Pilots regulate fuel and land on time, but the Funnelbuster completes his mission but does not return home until every last drop of fuel is exhausted and enough material has been extracted from the tornado to double his own plane's stats. I embrace the tornado, I surf the wind, I am...

A FUNNELBUSTER

Anyway pretty cool, only sad when I quit and came back and my upgrades were reset ;(

Developer

Haha yeah. Take heart in knowing that the persisting upgrades was one of the first things I fixed after submitting the jam copy, so it works now I just can't update it yet!  Thanks so much for checking it out and I'm really glad you enjoyed it!

Submitted(+1)

Super addictive gameplay loop :) one bit of feedback I have is that i wish you can see how much it costs to upgrade the different stuff on your plane, cause right now you're just clicking randomly on the buttons and hoping for the best that it says that you upgraded it. Aside from that, this was a nice submission. Good job!

Developer(+1)

That's a great point and one of the many "Dammit! How could I have forgotten that?!"moments I had after I submitted it. I appreciate you taking the time to play it and leave feedback. Thanks so much!

Submitted(+1)

i think that i used Q and E very little, maybe if there was narrow passages i could use them more. also you did use a lot of aviation terms that don't mean to much for most people an image or description could help with that overall it was a very cool concept and a very cool game. i'd play again easily with some adjustments

Developer(+1)

I plan on continuing to develop it into a full fledged game so I'll definitely take all of your points into consideration in making changes. Thank you for checking it out, and thank you for the feedback!

I like the idea of diving into a tornado, though I wasn't very good at it. I appreciate the "blocky" look reminiscent of some early 3D games, gave me Descent vibes. Simple and fun concept even if I had some performance issues, good job!

Submitted(+1)

Interesting game! I like the idea of upgrading your ship by collecting materials during the mission. It was a little easy for me to lose track of which direction you're going in and which way you're turning even with the altitude tracker. I'm not sure if this was RNG, but I was spending a lot of time holding down shift just to get to where the blue and yellow boxes are.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the reply! The boxes spawn randomly up and down the funnel. It's certainly easy to lose your orientation inside there, that was somewhat intended since it's supposed to be chaotic like you're inside a tornado, but hopefully once I get some actual assets in the tornado instead of just spheres and blocks it'll give a little better indication of which way is up heh.  I really appreciate you taking the time to play and rate it!

Pretty good game

Developer

Thanks!

Submitted(+1)

No Problem I would love it if you rated my game

I'm not a very good pilot but I enjoyed playing the game (It was calming in a way until it's not :P)

It reminded me of the game "Raft" when collecting scraps for upgrading. If you're planning to update the game after the game jam, it'll be nice to have some scenery when flying :)

Developer

I appreciate the feedback. I definitely plan on updating the visuals. Thank you!!

Really enjoyable game and nice music, great job !

Developer

Thank you!

Real fun game to fly around haha, I didn't use the ctl and shift haha I just went wherever the wind took me!

Would have loved to see your ship upgrade , idk if it's a bug or what do they mean with collect 4 cargo cause I collected a lot of things but never cargo than?

Overall a nice game that really can turn into something fun like a flying simulator!

Developer(+1)

There were yellow cubes that were the cargo boxes, and then blue sort of oblong shapes that were materials bundles (can be either plastic, metal, or rope.)  The "collect x cargo boxes" just meant collect the cubes, and it tracks how many you've grabbed in the bottom left corner.  Originally the cargo thing was part of a bigger idea I had at the start but quickly realized I wasn't going to have time to flesh it out so I just kinda made the cargo boxes be the mission objectives for now in order to create some kind of gameplay loop for the jam.

I'm glad you enjoyed flying around, and thanks so much for checking it out!

Okay this is more clearer to me now I didn't see the thing in the bottem left haha, I never looked at it haha silly me!

This was pretty fun, I actually really liked the intro writing with the subtle combination of a formal briefing and a text tutorial :D

Developer

Thanks! I really wanted to add a mechanic sort of companion NPC that gave you the rundown of the gameplay and walked you through the controls but time contraints etc... It's definitely planned for the future though.  Thank you for the feedback!!

Submitted(+1)

The BGM is very good. The controls are a little difficult on keyboard. Overall nice game for the jam! Keep developing!

Developer

I definitely plan on continuing with this project, I have so many ideas! Thank you!

Submitted(+1)

I love the idea, and the vibe is really really good. For some reasons it reminds me of older games I used to play when I was a kid

Good job!

Developer

Glad to hear it. I'm excited to keep working on it and start adding and updating stuff I didn't have time to finish for the jam. Thanks for the feedback!

Hee-ho. Cool vibe

oh man the frames lmao. was still able to kind of play it, but it was really laggy. im assuming its something about all of those objects lol. im not sure what engine you were using, but i would recommend scoping down, maybe giving godot a try and maybe doing something 2d for short jams like this. much better for html export, and i think it would allow you to focus on the actual core gameplay concepts rather than system resource optimization. thanks for entering!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for giving it a shot! Sorry it didn't perform well for you. It was created in Godot 4, and I was initially worried about performance with the tornado particles but with the exception of the person below who was using Linux, I didn't get any reports of low FPS from any of the 20ish folks I had test it this week. I'll look into it and see what I can do to optimize. Thanks again!

Submitted(+1)

I can't rate it, because I'm getting about 4 frames per second. I'm on linux though/

Developer

Oh dang! I'm sorry to hear it. Unfortunately I wasn't able to test it or get any testers for Linux! Thank you for the feedback though, I'll definitely look into it as I continue development.

A little tricky to control at first but I liked the idea and the music was really catchy. Great job with this!

Developer

Thank you! I wasn't sure where I was going to go with this once I kinda doodled the idea on my whiteboard, but I'm very excited about continuing development on it.

Really cool flight game with some nice mechanics of upgrading the ship and such (which is not easy to do in such limited time btw!) - felt like I was playing freelancer a bit hahaha - nice concept!

Developer

Thank you! I'm sad the upgrades aren't fully implemented but it's next on my list after I fix a few broken things.

Really Cool!

Developer

Thank you!

Developer

Apologies for it not being Play In Browser. The browser renderer really wrecked the stormy feel of the tornado.
