How does your game fit the theme?
You're a pilot who dives into tornadoes to retrieve cargo and materials. The calm is represented by the chill music during the time between missions when you're relaxing and upgrading your ship. The storm is the chaos of the tornado when the music ramps up, you're speeding toward the ground, everything is swirling around you and you're frantically trying to gather enough cargo to complete your objective.
Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
With the exception of the fonts (fontsquirrel.com), all art, music, sound effects, and code were created by me.

Wow what a great concept for this game jam, and I also get a lot of control over the setting of the game, the menu also catches my eyes and I like it so much
Thank you for taking the time to play and leave feedback! I'm excited to continue development
Nice work! It looks cool, and feels sweet to fly through a tornado >:D Also, it's awesome that you made all the code and assets yourself ^-^ I agree with some of the other comments that something static in the background would help with perspective and depth perception, and the music could probably use a little variation (although the music in my own game isn't right where I want it, haha). Overall, good submission!
Thanks so much for checking it out. I can't wait to add more music. Making the music was one of my favorite parts of the development. I think once I get some better assets in there for the tornado it might help with orientation. I might add a horizon gauge to the UI , and maybe make the sky a different color. Lots of ideas, lots of plans! I appreciate you taking the time to play it and leave a review!
Great concept, and I really enjoyed the atmosphere! The visuals and music were top-notch. I did experience some lag, but that’s probably on me. Overall, fun and engaging gameplay! Keep up the great work!
Great submission!
If the environment had at least a horizon, it would have been easier to understand where the player is.
It's an interesting concept, it would have been cool if the main premise was flying in and out of tornadoes, rather than just always being inside one. If the ship had sfx and better inertia, it would have been a solid game.
Great job
You made everything in a such a short time that is so impressing actually! With a little bit more time and working on the game i think u might have a really great game☺ It is still fun and addicting tho. Well done ♥
And if you can try my game too it makes me really happy! https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-12/rate/2973922 Here is my link!
I did! I really enjoyed Pawstro!
I definitely plan on continuing development. Thanks for taking the time to play my game and leave feedback!
Fire music, pretty good visuals, slight problem for me, and just me I think was that the game was laggy (I have a potato laptop lol)
Yeah I think somewhere in the neighborhood of 0 dev time was spent on optimization lol. I was just like MORE PARTICLES PLS until it looked kind of like a tornado. I appreciate you checking it out and taking the time to leave feedback!
Phenomenal work! The gameplay is addictive, the visuals are breathtaking, and the experience overall is unforgettable. Really polished game! :D
Glad you enjoyed it. I'm happy with the early gameplay loop but I have so many things I want to do after the jam. Thank you for taking the time to play it and leave feedback, I really appreciate it!
Love flying through a tornado! One feedback is to add some static backdrops, I got disoriented sometimes without a point of reference. Other than that it's fun collecting cargo and materials!
I've noticed that too a little, even I have gotten a bit disoriented sometimes despite being totally familiar with the game. I'll definitely add that to my list of things to work on. I appreciate you taking the time to play the game and leave feedback!
I think the game got me a bit frustrated with the flying mechanic, but I still held on to it. This is well made, simple it some what fits the theme so you're quite on track. Very well done!
Thank you! I appreciate you taking the time to check it out and leave feedback!
I seriously like this, this was 5-star fun, the gameplay loop is great and I was genuinely fascinated by the way the game was rendered, like for a while I thought it was just a very well executed optical illusion, but I think it is actually fully 3d.
It is not enough to simply be a pilot--you must be a Funnelbuster. A pilot fears the winds that he cannot control, but a Funnelbuster exploits, morphs these winds to his own control. Pilots regulate fuel and land on time, but the Funnelbuster completes his mission but does not return home until every last drop of fuel is exhausted and enough material has been extracted from the tornado to double his own plane's stats. I embrace the tornado, I surf the wind, I am...
A FUNNELBUSTER
Anyway pretty cool, only sad when I quit and came back and my upgrades were reset ;(
Haha yeah. Take heart in knowing that the persisting upgrades was one of the first things I fixed after submitting the jam copy, so it works now I just can't update it yet! Thanks so much for checking it out and I'm really glad you enjoyed it!
Super addictive gameplay loop :) one bit of feedback I have is that i wish you can see how much it costs to upgrade the different stuff on your plane, cause right now you're just clicking randomly on the buttons and hoping for the best that it says that you upgraded it. Aside from that, this was a nice submission. Good job!
That's a great point and one of the many "Dammit! How could I have forgotten that?!"moments I had after I submitted it. I appreciate you taking the time to play it and leave feedback. Thanks so much!
i think that i used Q and E very little, maybe if there was narrow passages i could use them more. also you did use a lot of aviation terms that don't mean to much for most people an image or description could help with that overall it was a very cool concept and a very cool game. i'd play again easily with some adjustments
I plan on continuing to develop it into a full fledged game so I'll definitely take all of your points into consideration in making changes. Thank you for checking it out, and thank you for the feedback!
I like the idea of diving into a tornado, though I wasn't very good at it. I appreciate the "blocky" look reminiscent of some early 3D games, gave me Descent vibes. Simple and fun concept even if I had some performance issues, good job!
Interesting game! I like the idea of upgrading your ship by collecting materials during the mission. It was a little easy for me to lose track of which direction you're going in and which way you're turning even with the altitude tracker. I'm not sure if this was RNG, but I was spending a lot of time holding down shift just to get to where the blue and yellow boxes are.
Thanks for the reply! The boxes spawn randomly up and down the funnel. It's certainly easy to lose your orientation inside there, that was somewhat intended since it's supposed to be chaotic like you're inside a tornado, but hopefully once I get some actual assets in the tornado instead of just spheres and blocks it'll give a little better indication of which way is up heh. I really appreciate you taking the time to play and rate it!
Pretty good game
Thanks!
No Problem I would love it if you rated my game
I'm not a very good pilot but I enjoyed playing the game (It was calming in a way until it's not :P)
It reminded me of the game "Raft" when collecting scraps for upgrading. If you're planning to update the game after the game jam, it'll be nice to have some scenery when flying :)
I appreciate the feedback. I definitely plan on updating the visuals. Thank you!!
Really enjoyable game and nice music, great job !
Thank you!
Real fun game to fly around haha, I didn't use the ctl and shift haha I just went wherever the wind took me!
Would have loved to see your ship upgrade , idk if it's a bug or what do they mean with collect 4 cargo cause I collected a lot of things but never cargo than?
Overall a nice game that really can turn into something fun like a flying simulator!
There were yellow cubes that were the cargo boxes, and then blue sort of oblong shapes that were materials bundles (can be either plastic, metal, or rope.) The "collect x cargo boxes" just meant collect the cubes, and it tracks how many you've grabbed in the bottom left corner. Originally the cargo thing was part of a bigger idea I had at the start but quickly realized I wasn't going to have time to flesh it out so I just kinda made the cargo boxes be the mission objectives for now in order to create some kind of gameplay loop for the jam.
I'm glad you enjoyed flying around, and thanks so much for checking it out!
Okay this is more clearer to me now I didn't see the thing in the bottem left haha, I never looked at it haha silly me!
This was pretty fun, I actually really liked the intro writing with the subtle combination of a formal briefing and a text tutorial :D
Thanks! I really wanted to add a mechanic sort of companion NPC that gave you the rundown of the gameplay and walked you through the controls but time contraints etc... It's definitely planned for the future though. Thank you for the feedback!!
The BGM is very good. The controls are a little difficult on keyboard. Overall nice game for the jam! Keep developing!
I definitely plan on continuing with this project, I have so many ideas! Thank you!
