Wow , Just an incredible game. really ambitious for a game jam but really payed off.
Love the combination of backpack hero and vampire survivors . really well done, all around.
If i had to suggest something, maybe have gold on the mini map, but really thats all i can think of
It sure was ambitious, but we are glad we took the "risk" because we are really happy with how it turned out.
Thanks for your review and we will take your suggestion into account of course ;D
I mean this is just great game isn't it! Amazing that you made it in 1 Month. Definitely going to be one of the top submissions.
To try and give some constructive feedback (I'm nitpicking here), it would be nice if instead of buying the item as soon as you drag it out of its shop slot, you buy it when you place it instead. Couple times I picked up an item to see how it fits (I know it shows its size in the popup, but I auto try fit it) and accidentally bought it.
Another thing I'd note is the very first level feels a little bit slow. Maybe up the basic weapon base damage by 1?
As I said, these are very minor points. Suberb game. Full marks all round. Congratulations!
I mean, this is just a great review isn't it!
Thanks a lot!
Your point of buying items when placing them instead of when dragging them was brought up by our testers also, so we will take that into account when expanding on this idea.
And nitpicking is fine, we love to hear what can be improved :)
I really like the storage mechanic paired with buying items. Has a good level of polish as well. Good job!
Thanks a lot! :)
This was made in 1 month ! WOW ! I had fun playing it. There are many interesting mechanics that are sure worth expanding on. For example the buying and storing is very unique. I enjoyed this, thank you for this experience.
That is some high praise so thank you very much !
And don't worry, we are going to expand on this ! :D
Loved this. Very well done.
When the level completes and you can buy stuff, you can still run around and collect coins. Which I liked. :D
Thanks for the kind words !
We knew about the running around bug as this was not intended but as it was not gamebreaking we left it in to see if anybody would notice.
So congrats to you for being the first to find it ! ;D
The game is enjoyable, but it didn't resonate with me, possibly due to the audio design not quite fitting the game. The graphics look professional, and the idea is promising. With some small adjustments and improvements, this could work well on mobile.
Check out my game submission: https://ricotv.itch.io/full-scale-invasion
Too bad the audio did not fit the game for you. Was it the music or the attack sounds mostly that you found unfitting?
Thanks for the kind words and the feedback !
Regarding the sound effects, they just need to feel more impactful. The music in the menu is great, but in the main game, it feels a bit unfitting. Maybe something more orchestral could work? A bit more energy.
Thanks, we will take this into account !
The game is really addicting and fun. Amazing work!
Really neat spin on the rogue-like/bullet hell genre! The final boss seems like he needs to be slightly harder, other than that its really really well made! Had fun playing it, nice job :D
Thanks a lot, glad you enjoyed it !
I'm guessing you are familiar with these kinds of games and can find the more powerful items/build easier as some of our testers actually had a hard time defeating the boss ;)
Makes sense! I do often play these kind of games, so yeah I guess that made it out the way I described the final experience ahah It felt like if you maintain a balance between damage with armour + HP, the boss would hit me often, but not deal any significant amount of damage (Some of the blue projectiles even did 0 damage it felt like) and I could just tank the damage while out damaging it. I would really like to see this game evolve, feels like it has potential! Do both of you plan to keep working on it?
Yes we will be working on the game together, starting from scratch and taking lessons learned from this gam. It also won't be made in a month this time so we can take time to set up our systems correctly instead of making a lot of spaghetti code just to get stuff to work ;D
Awesome! I’ll definitely be on the look out for that game ^^
Looks good and feels good, I couldn't ask for more! I will keep coming back to play a few more rounds 😋
Love to hear this!
A new daily challenge unlocks each day and although we had some trouble maiking them all unique and challenging there are for sure some tough ones in there so I hope to see you on the leaderboards for the daily challenges soon (sadly we didn't have time to show the leaderboards in game, but we can see how many people actually finished the game and daily challenges)
That's very cool, you have something very interesting in your hands, so keep up the good work and good luck with this project!! ☺️
The amount of polish is nice and adding the shop made it feel like a real game that i would buy.
Thanks a lot!
This makes us want to work on the game after the jam even more ! (Which we plan to do either way, but now we want it EVEN MORE ;P)
Enjoyed playing!Great game!Hope it will continue to be developed!
Thanks for the kind words !
We will be continuing work on this after the jam, so keep an eye out for any expansion / remake coming out :)
Wow! This is a really well put together game in only one month. Very immersive, and fun gameplay. I’d absolutely play a longer version of this game if it were to ever become a thing. Kudos!
You might be in luck as we are going to continue work on this after the jam is over.
So I'm hoping with you that you get to play that longer version at some point!
Thanks for the kudos ;D
Great looking game! The assets look very pleasing. Although not the most innovative, I still enjoyed it.
Thanks for the praise!
Glad you enjoyed it :)
Strong gameplay loop, clear design goals, and insane levels of polish.
Mildly underwelming on actually making itself feel unique from other games within the genre, but that's also not always a downside.
Big fan, and hope you're proud of your work
Thanks for the lovely review.
We went for a fun game over innovation/theme so what you are saying is totally correct :)
Good to hear we have our first official fan, woohoo ;D
Very fun and addicting!
Overall: Pretty Good!
Gameplay: Fun/Addicting
Graphics: Very Nice
Audio: Had sound too low for music but nice now that I've turned it up.
Innovation: Backpack fitting is interesting
Theme interpretation: It's fine but fairly basic.
That's a lot of praise so thank you very much !
And like said before, we knew we weren't going to be the best on theme but I think we got a stronger gameplay out of it than we would have if we went harder on the theme, so I'm still happy with that :)
Very strong in gameplay. Although innovation and theme interpretation is relatively weak, it is still an interesting game.
Agreed on all points, we went with a proven concept instead of being super innovative or strong on theme like last year.
Glad to hear you liked the gameplay at least !
Great survivor game. It kinda looks professional. It's very polished and has quite a lot of content!
You guys did an amazing job during last month. Keep it up :D
I have no words as a response to such a positive review.
Thanks a lot !
And we will be keeping it up, look for an expansion "soon" ;D
Really cool entry! It was oddly addicting thanks to how customized your loadout can be. The idea of expanding your powers also increasing enemies is neat. The base player speed felt a bit too sluggish but that was a pretty minor gripe. Overall had a lot of fun with the game.
Are you sure you did not pick up any scalings that lowered player speed ?
At base level you should be faster than most enemies. If that still is too slow you can always pick up some boots and increase your speed that way.
Glad you had fun scaling our mountain! ;D
It was before picking up any changes to the player speed, I was faster than them but it just seemed to hitch at times or overall felt fairly sluggish at the start. Very minor problem for me though.
Really nice entry, good polish. I did encounter a bug where I got stuck in the shop and couldn't leave/continue though
Hmm our testers tested everything and found even the most obscure bugs that I never would have thought of so I am curious to this one?. Do you know which level it happened on and whether it was after wave 4 (aka the last wave) of a level ? Was there simply no button to leave or did the game brick in some other way?
Either way, thank you for bringing this to out attention.
Incredibly well polished, though at first I didn't realize that it was like vampire survivors lol
I'm starting to see a trend, we need to do a way better job at explaining the game it seems hehe.
I hope it still clicked for you soon enough to enjoy the game.
Thanks for your review !
