I really liked the arcade aesthetic, especially the hud. I think the difficulty could ramp up more, I spent a long time just holding a direction and firing without much of a challenge.

Developer

Thanks yeah I get the difficulty comment some later variants with different hits and powers  would have helped for sure

Nice job! Great take on the theme, escpecially the name! Also, nice game overall, I like the gameplay and the artstyle :) Great work!

Thanks for playing 😀

This is a  fun one! I like the different endings and the animations that go with them. You're already aware of the fire button stuff... I couldn't seem to get P2's fire button to work at all? The sound and graphics matched well for a 16 bit era game.

Very interesting game, I enjoyed the mechanic you implemented! The firing was a little bit tricky to understand as others have said, but it didn’t stop me from having fun. Well done!

Thanks!

it's very well done, reminds me of those retro arcade games

Woohoo, I made the leaderboard! Really fun. Played a few times. It took me a second to figure out I had to hold down fire for it to shoot. Loved the audio and graphics too. Thanks! Oh one thing - might be worth adding a little notification about scoring high enough to make the leaderboard (unless I missed it). Nice work!

Developer

thanks for playing will lol into notification on lead boards. It meant to be top 50 so most should make it on 😀

I don't see anyone else having this issue so idk if it's a problem with me or my machine, but the fire button wouldn't work for me, I could move left and right but couldn't fire anything. The game looks great, and seems like it would play really nice, but I couldn't seem to play it.

Developer

Sorry I updated the fire to a hold to fire model based on feedback, this caused a small delay in firing (which looks like no firing at all  if the button is only quickly tapped) - I really need to revisit this as I am sure I can resolve.

sorry for the poor experience.

Perfect jam game : the game quickly sets up the tone and brings the player in it's gameplay. Really nice graphics, music and sound effects. One little thing though : it wasn't very clear to me what made shooting possible or not : I sometimes pressed the "K" button and nothing happened,  while other times, I only pressed it once and it fired 3 bullets. But it's an awesome work !

Developer

Thanks for playing and the Feedback it is very clear I need to revisit my holding down the button shooting fix lol. You get 4 shots then the laser recharges (in the UI on left) this is probably the other times fire button seems unresponsive. Thanks so much for playing and the feedback 😀

Great music and graphics, nice intro and outro, interesting mechanics. I was confused for a while about which key to press to fire and whether they auto-fire when pressed. I also died the first time because I didn't notice earth health going down. Great job!

thanks for playing 😀

Great work! I really liked the pixel HUD screen that you had showing the details about the score and the amount of damage that the earth took so far. The pixel art was very nice. I was a little confused at first about how the damage and health system of the player worked but after a while I got the hang of it! Good job!

Thanks for the feedback 😀

Very cool game. I loved it. I was finding it difficult at first, as I was trying not to let any ships reach Earth, but after I realized that there was no problem with them passing through, I started to find it easier. I even broke the record. I believe that the player can be punished for letting the ship pass, and the number of ships can start very small and increase over time, perhaps the difficulty will be a little more balanced.

Intro with the dialog and music start are hype! User interface with all the information and goofy win screen also super fun (though they are cut off when in fullscreen for me). Love moving in the circle as a twist on Space Invaders and found the gameplay pretty smooth — think you could just have the ship auto fire however, as there didn't seem to be any reason to let up on the fire button.

Developer

fair point about the fire button didn’t really think about that 🤔 Thanks so much for playing and your feedback - also stoked someone liked my goofy win screen I rushed through in the early morning before the last day lol.

I like the music. Great game

That was a really fun twist on the space invaders. Really enjoyed the radial aspect of it. I especially liked how the two supporting ships were in the back, so you had to make meaningful decisions as to when to make the trip to the back and leave the earth exposed.

Loved the voice-acted intro, really set a strong tone for the game from the start! I also really liked the UI. Very creative way to display information to the player while saying on theme.

Perhaps the only problem I had was that I wasted a lot of time attacking the big boss in the middle, and noticed too late that it was healing and that I needed to go for the supports. And yet, I felt very good and smart when I figured it out on my own. So maybe that was ok!

Great work, really enjoyed this game!

Developer

Thanks I am glad you succeeded in taking out the Mothership in the end. The two support ships are poorly conveyed Shield ships if I had more time would have love to have some beams to convey that.

thanks so much for playing and your kind feedback.

Neat twist on good old space invaders. Voice acting was super cool along with some neat visuals. Good Job!

Unique idea and I really enjoyed the audio/voice acting. However there wasn't much obvious feedback on the shooting, and it seemed very delayed. I would sometimes have to smash both of the shooting buttons for player 1 several times before I would actually shoot.

Submitted

I suppose that the idea is that you only can have a few bullets in screen, and when you reach that limit, you can't shoot again until that bullets disappear.

Great twist to the space invaders formula! Loved the sound and visuals specially, they were very retro.

As the spaceship fire is a bit delayed I didn't know if the key was working at first. I missed a bit of feedback there.

Congratulations. It was fun!
