Aside from the final decision, I wished I had a little more choice or experienced some branching paths/story, or had to use my noggin to solve some puzzles. Instead this was more of an “interactive” story where I had to click predetermined buttons to continue the linear story. But perhaps given the story’s subject matter, that’s intentional.

Having said all that, this is not actually a huge criticism of the game. It was great! I was very captivated by the game’s mood and story. I loved how it changed throughout the playthrough. It was super well done and very enjoyable to play! I ended up playing it twice to make sure I saw everything it had to offer. Very unique and very well done.

Great work, team! That was a cool experience!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! Limited time was a determining factor in the way the game turned out, but there are several other factors to consider. Regarding the dialogues, we know that the initial choices are somewhat limited, and we would have liked to make them more varied. However, it's true that especially in the middle of the game, we relied on the fact that the antagonist doesn't care about the predetermined options you choose, and often directly ignores what you say. It's in the ending when there is genuine interest, and there are more branching paths and valuable responses.

Regarding the gameplay, we would liked to make the ducts more challenging, not provide a revealed map from the beginning, and add more dynamism to the sniper mechanic. However, we recognized that the game was already long, with a lot of text, and might not be very appealing to a Jam audience. So, we decided not to complicate it too much to avoid frustration or boredom, focusing on the story and game feel.

Thank you very much for your comment and for taking the time to try out the game options :D

Not my type of game, but great execution! Great visuals, great audio, compelling narrative!

Developer

The fact that it's not your type of game, but you still played it and left a comment means a lot! Thanks for the praise

Peak performance, congratulations!

Developer

Thanks! We put a lot of effort into preloading shaders and effects so the gameplay would feel smooth, happy to hear it did

I wasn't expecting so many mechanics!

Wonderful visual style, music, atmosphere :chefs kiss:

Developer (1 edit)

Hey, I see what you did there ;) Thanks for the compliments, glad you liked it so.

Wow! I usually don't play these kind of games, but i enjoyed this one very much! Well done!

Developer

That means a lot. So happy you enjoyed it even if it's not your style. Hope you found something new by playing it.

Enjoyed the game very much. Going meta was fun too but I like game play more and with some real choices this game could turn into a full game I would buy.

Developer

Thanks a lot. We did put some dialog choices that lead to different conversations and lore to find. But yes, all jam games are more proof of concept than anything, and we would have loved to be able to expand our game as much as possible to incorporate something like that.

Utterly Compelling Narrative. The tension had me captivated and I really dug the multiple viewpoints aspect of the storytelling / mechanics. I also really appreciated little details like this subtle dithering over the radio:

White Bat is also featured in my game's soundtrack! Excellent taste :)

Developer

Thanks! Happy to hear all those details really improved your experience. I'll be sure to check your game too soon ;)

Stunning visuals and a really nice soundtrack. The overall vibe is on point as many have already pointed out. GG!

Developer

Still, thanks to you too on your kind words. We put a lot of care into combining the art, music and writing to give that vibe, so glad you all appreciate it.

So

I love this atmosphere, it's like a soft spot for me, and you put your finger right into it

So good job :)

One thing I would love is to use 1 2 3 keys as a shortcut when I have choices during dialogues. It's something I'm used to (in RPGs like KotOR for example), and if it was there too, it would be perfect :)

Developer

Yes, it was a feature we planned to add, but we had so many others that made the game what it is. Glad you still liked it and thanks for the compliments and feedback.

Wow, what a game for a game jam. The writing was stellar and the aesthetics and sound design were amazing. Excellent job!

Developer

Thanks! There was a lot of work put into everything, including the writing. There are even some secrets hidden behind certain dialog choices at the end.

Submitted(+2)

Love the atmosphere. Nailed it!

Developer

Thank you! Hope you enjoyed the game as well :)

Beautiful graphics and tense thriller atmosphere, cool!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for your comment, we really tried to evoke that 80s cop thriller style.

Beautifully pixel art !

Developer

As its pixel artist, thanks :D

Submitted(+2)

wow. This was definitely my type of game. It was a really interesting and fun game to play, although it didnt fit the theme perfectly. The art looks really good and the 4th wall break was really well done

Developer(+1)

Thanks for you comment, we tried to be subtle about the theme, but incorporate it in all the game (the scales of justice, the scaling operation and game modes, the tilting of the scales at the end...). But most important is that it was enjoyable.

Submitted(+2)

Not my cup of tea as a game, but it runs smooth and looks great.

It did feel a bit weird clicking on the injured hostage while aiming at her with a sniper rifle to identify her ;P

Developer

Thanks for your feedback! What kind of games you like? We may want to switch it up for the next jam

I'm not a big point-and-click player, but your magnificent pixel art with its superb colors pushed me to try a little harder, and in the end I really liked it, and the twist at the end is really fun! You've really done a great game ;)

Developer

Thanks for your kind words, as the pixel artist of this project it really means a lot. Glad you had fun!

Submitted(+2)

fun concept that was well executed! gaining the new game modes with different game play was great. i also really liked the ending

Developer(+1)

Thanks, we wanted the operation to scale even more, but happy to hear you enjoyed the game modes we had!

Submitted(+1)

I agree with the other comment, it is not playable if you don't have a mouse. Other than that, I just want to say that this game is AMAZING. I like the twist you put in there. Sooo unexpected... at least for me.

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot, happy to hear you enjoyed the twist. Did you trust Him?

Submitted(+1)

Too paranoid to trust him lol

It was going so well.. I loved the premise and the style and the delivery.. But then you had to go and make me right-click and left-click at the same time. Impossible on touchpad.

I see this UX flaw in so many games.

Maybe it's me. Maybe I should buy a mouse.

Developer

Yes, it's designed for mouse play. Our last game did support touchpad, but for this one we liked a more PC experience. Thanks for trying it out anyway, and I hope you get a chance to replay it on a computer and enjoy it :)

Pretty cool game. You have to run it in browser...I wish there was a DOS version (I kid I kid). Honestly though for this little game its pretty great on the graphics and sound.

Developer

Thanks for the compliments!
