Simple != easy. Fun to play!

Nicely executed puzzle game that really leans into this year's theme.  Reminds me of There Is No Game, but the fact that there is an "obvious" goal makes the secret goal idea work even better. Nice job.

This was such an innovative idea. I loved playing this game and figuring out how to solve it. Excellent work :)

Super well designed game, great entry! Like others have said it has that old school addictingames web game vibe, and I think it works perfectly for the Secrets theme. There's so many nice bits of polish, from the slight squishing of the character on jump lands, to the particle effect at death and so many smart game design decisions like a very short level restart time and checkpoints at each level. The art is a little plain but its cohesive and doesn't take away from the gameplay itself. The SFX are solid and juicy but a background track of some kind would have been a nice addition. There were multiple times where I had the "aha" moment and made for an awesome gaming experience. The first two levels I think are the perfect way to introduce the player to the whole "everything is not as it seems" vibe, without hand-holding or being too enigmatic. Proof that a game can still be great even with programmer art :) Brilliant entry!

edit: like others have said you should post it to web game sites, I'd try it on Newgrounds!

My sibling completed it.

Sorry, I meant level 3.

Level 3 has invisible stairs to the right. Those mirror the visible stairs to the left, so you have to jump upwards in the same pattern. When you reach the top platform, go right :)

Thanks for the help!

Could you help me? I got stuck on level 5 :(

Great and enjoyable game! Very clever!

Great game! I enjoyed the game. Art is simple and it’s working well. I love the effect for respawning player; hints at the level’s start are valuable.

Really well done, cool exemple of how to keep things simple yet constantly subvert expectation.

Really great twists. I didn't expect so many variations and twists. It works great, it feels really nice to play it. Wobbly sounds fits nicely to the movement. I love the shader for respawning. I appreciate the hints you provide because in some levels I would probably struggle a long time, so that was a nice touch.

I spent longer than I care to admit playing your game, and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Some bits I found to be a little bit too hard, namely the jumps in L8. Some of the hints I think could / should have been shown after dying a lot too, not just after hitting the green flag a bunch.

Very nice work!

Great Thomas-was-Alone style platformer, good use of 'secrets'. Took me 18 minutes to complete all the levels. level 6 was the most painful, followed by level 8.

How did you get past level 6? I got stuck there.

Submitted

just very careful jumping to reach exit, then you get the clue after a few failed exits

Do you remember what the hint was?

Actually, I figured it out, but am now stuck on level 8.

Interesting concept! I made it to level 6

These are the games i pay my internet bill for lol. Reminded me of the world's hardest game and kinds which I used to play on addictinggames.com. Could not complete it today but will comeback to play it. Absolutely fun. I hope you publish it in other platforms that takes in web games!!

Very nicely done! Love the puzzles and how they subvert your expectations of platformers. I did find myself mashing buttons at times, it didn't help. :P

I had a lot of fun solving this one- most of the time when I figured out the solution it felt very clever and like a nice puzzle. I think the level with the invisible platforms felt a bit too trial and error, once I had worked out they were there I think it should have been clearer where to jump maybe. The final level also I didn't get until I got the hint I think maybe it needed some foreshadowing but it still make me smile and I really liked the ending. Great work!

I like the concept, I wish there were more indicators or hints.
I got up to level 5 and couldn't find a way to progress.

The player jump sound decays slowly after a while, this is noticeable on level 5 when holding the jump key with your head to the ceiling.

Good luck on your future projects!
