"Do You Wanna Job?" is a surreal and darkly humorous interactive experience where players navigate a bizarre interview process at a mysterious corporation. Tasked with answering unsettling and cryptic questions from eccentric managers, you must maintain your composure, balance your "stress bar," and unravel the eerie secrets behind the company’s true purpose: the creation and sale of "secrets" to the highest bidder.

The game’s atmosphere blends unsettling horror with absurd comedy, creating a unique tension as you face increasingly bizarre challenges. Hidden within the experience is a playful nod to classic gaming culture—a cheat code, HESOYAM, which restores your "lives" and provides a momentary reprieve in this intense psychological test. Will you survive the interview and uncover the truth, or will you become just another secret in their archives?

Theme interpretation
The theme inspired us to explore new ideas and push our creativity. This is our debut in gamedev, and through this experience, we've grown and learned so much!

"Do You Wanna Job?"

Absolutely loved the writing and art direction in this! I was very impressed by how the game really felt like being in an interview, where you needed to slightly adapt your responses depending on the interviewer. I also felt like the punishments for "wrong" answers was super fairly balanced, which can be really hard to do in these kinds of games. Great job team!!

Developer

Thank you so much for the kind words! We're really glad you noticed and appreciated the little details we worked hard on. Balancing the consequences was definitely a challenge, so it’s great to hear it felt fair. Your feedback means a lot to us!

Very good and very unsettling!

I love the atmosphere and was sweating every time I answered a question hoping to answer what they wanted to hear. Great game!

P.S.: The last button to go back to the main menu is buggy!

I love it, it's a great concept!

Thank you so much for spending your time with our game and sharing your thoughts! We're thrilled you enjoyed the atmosphere—it means a lot to us!

As for the bug with returning to the main menu, our programmer swore it worked perfectly... but after seeing your comment, they’re now dramatically throwing ashes on their head and have promised to fix it as soon as the voting period ends. Stay tuned! 😄

This game impressed me a lot. The artwork is very well crafted.

The first room felt ordinary, but then I started to get afraid of the next rooms. The changing faces are also a lovely touch. It kept me going - even when the last room suddenly added another 12 questions :)

Great work!

Developer

Thank you so much for the kind words! We're glad we managed to achieve the desired effect. Those extra questions were intended as a little surprise to keep players from relaxing too soon 😉. Thanks for playing our game :)

Impressive artwork, loved the style. The ambient music really sets the mood. I was stressing when getting questioned, that zoom in really punches well! Awesome

Developer

Thank you for the kind words! We're so glad the atmosphere and style resonated with you. It’s awesome to hear the questioning moments had such an impact — that was exactly the feeling we were aiming for. Your feedback really motivates us!

very nice game, I really loved it! the graphics were sick and I enjoyed the little easter eggs on the walls. I think that it felt a little boring at times or it felt like it was taking a while, and I feel like the main reason is that it takes longer to skip past dialog, like when you die, it takes a while to skip past a lot of dialog you've already read, so a button to fast forward dialog like in most games would be nice in case you didn't want to wait through all of that again. nice take on the theme though and nice game!

Developer

Thank you for your feedback! Some content and features were scaled back due to the time constraints of the jam, but we’re planning to improve the game after it ends. We’ll definitely take your points into account. Thanks for helping us get a little better <3

My God. This game... It's just amazing. I was very nervous during these interviews. How did you manage to create such a terrifying atmosphere?

Developer(+1)

Real-life inspiration, my friend. Let’s just say our own job hunts weren’t exactly dreamy. Glad it resonated (and terrified) you!👻

Never would've thought I'd play a game about job interviews. Nailed the vibe, a must-play to help prepare for any job interviews in the future! Well done!

Great work on this! The visuals and audio were really good for setting the mood. I was impressed that you had the time to have distinct art for each room/character. The creepy vibe came across really well too! Great work! Really want to know more about those “true events” that inspired this haha!

I’m so glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for taking the time to play the game!

Fantastic artwork had a bunch of fun with it. Also a really cool story and a fun premise of trying to figure out the right thing to say. I enjoyed it a lot. The overall vibe and creepiness was great and I the creepy music and voices were a real treat. I love the 2D-3D vibe it adds a lot. It feels like every inch of the offices and characters was so carefully detailed. I did have to use the cheat code to get to the end as it was a bit hard but it felt like it could have been fair. I also like all the twists and reversals, you rarely get that in VN style game.

Developer

Glad you enjoyed it!❤️

Great graphics and concept. Reminds me far too much of real life! :-)

P.S. This game was written in blood and inspired by true events...🌝

First off, the visuals were fantastic. Secondly, I DIDN'T NEED A CHEAT CODE GOD DAMMIT; but the temptation was too strong...

The writing sound got a bit repetitive, maybe some more variation to it or more randomization of the pitch or something. The music was nice and set the tone well.

I would have liked to been able to skip the writing sequence (especially when redoing a level after losing). A common control scheme I like is when the user presses the button to go to the next message but the dialogue is still being written out, you just instantly write out all the dialogue instead. It would make replaying a level a lot nicer since I can work back to where I was easier.

I liked the character designs and how each had their own unique personality that, seemed, to affect what types of answers they'd accept. The last guy with the face changing when the hands on his shoulder left and returned was a really cool design.

Very cool game.

Curious why the calendar was in 2020.

Developer(+1)

I'm so glad you enjoyed it! After the jam results are announced, we plan to fix all the bugs, implement the features we couldn't complete in time—including the one you mentioned—and possibly add some content we had to cut early on. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR COMMENT!

P.S. The 2020 calendar is a secret
