Oh wow! Awesome graphics ya got here, looks really polished and the gameplay is fun too! The music sounds great and fitting, well done!
I can see potential in this game and more possible levels beyond this! You could even add the reverse, where you can play as a bandit raiding a train, clearing each carriage and deciding is it time to detach it to win before it reaches the end (you must be on it), you'll get more points depends on how many carriage you have at the end!
Thank you very much for the kind words and feedback, much appreciated!
The idea of a platformer on moving platforms is quite novel and has some real potential, just felt like it was too easy for the bad guys to win by getting in behind you and stopping the engine.
Thanks for playing and for the feedback!
Me likes wild west
Wow, this is a really interesting idea! I love the graphics, a bit similar to flash games:). Was interesting to play!
Wow I'm impressed by the visuals for a jam like this! Also, I found jumping and shooting at the same time to be a somewhat weird timing and I found it hard to hit people on a higher level.
Yeah, I must admit, that with such floaty(-ish jump) it's hard to shoot. That's definitely something I should've thought of. Thanks for your feedback :)
Art and music were super good with the western theme. Gameplay was awesome. Was able to reach the end with all seven cars.
Thank you for taking the time to play this little mess of mine ;)
Very fun and elegant idea! I like that you can't just camp at the back of the train and shoot bandits, you gotta heal and stoke the train at the front. Very clever!
I'm glad you enjoyed it and thanks for playing!
Fun to play an very challenging. Maybe adding an entry level to get used to the controls and how to win is an idea? Cool soundtrack, fits the game nicely.
Thanks for playing and for the feedback. What you suggested should definitely help :)
The art is really pretty and the game in general is extremely polished for a 2 day jam, well done :)
Thank you very much for your kind words!
Simple yet effective game! I wish taking and dealing damage gave more of a response to the player
Yeah, I know what you mean. Those red flashes were the least I could do and this was already last hour fix. Thank you very much for the feedback!
2D RDR :)
Yeah, without the graphics, horses, quests, dialogues, deep characters, traveling, more quests and funny ragdoll physics. Otherwise I think you nailed it :D
Good job on this game. I got confused by jumping and shooting keys at first but then I used to it :)
Very good game overall :D
Great work, I had fun playing! Maybe the game should become more challenging when the train moves on (increasing enemy spawn rate, introducing different/tougher kind of enemies and such). But in 48 hours, this is already impressive.
The art and animations were really nice! I loved how much theming you put into this, very impressive stuff!
The gameplay concept has a lot going for it, though I was able to win just by sitting at the front and hammering space for the most part. Still though, great work!
Yeah... I thought that it may happen. Creating even brain-dumb AI in 48h was tough, so it was obvious that situations like this may occur.
Anyways, thanks a lot for playing!
The style, the art, the music and sound effects are perfect for this game! I think the gameplay could be spiced up with some fancy mechanics, maybe something with the train? Really nice job, it looks amazing!
Definitely agree that it needs... something more.
Thanks for playing, though!
Art is very on point and gameplay is on track. 😉
That is something that I should've put in the description :D
Thanks for playing!
Awesome! This game looks great and is fun to play.
I really like the little details -- spinning the revolver when the player is done shooting was a nice animation to see.
Great job.
Thank you very much, I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Interesting approach on the theme. I think the idea that you have to protect the wagons at the end, but make the train faster at the front (also heal yourself), very creative. It creates a feeling of chaos in me, because sometimes i don't know exactly which one has more priority. So basically, you have to strategically consider which of the two mechanics seems more important to you. Very nice!
I would have liked that you implemented more mechanics around these two core mechanics. But we're here in a 48h jam, so i can unterstand that you didn't do it.
All in all, i really liked your game. Great work!
Thank you very much for your feedback! I totally agree that the game needs much more features in its current state to be more fun :)
There's a great concept in here. I would have liked the train to be a more integral experience, and the "bond" to be between the train and the player.
I could see a lot depth coming out from really embracing the theme:
(1) The player could be hooking/unhooking cars to sabotage bandits paths. (The bandits didn't actually unhook a car in my playthrough?).
(2) The player could armoring/building turrets and fortifications on the train
(3) The speed of the train could throw bandits off into traps or around turns.
I thought your presentation was the highlight, and that you were able to create a real sense of speed in your artwork. I would have loved to see that sense of speed applied in all aspects of presentation (a train whistle when max speed is reached, screen shaking, belching fire/black smoke particles, etc).
Thanks for sharing, and best of luck in the jam.
That's a lot of constructive feedback. Much appreciated :) Those are really cool ideas (most of which I would really like in my game if not for the time constraint). I was worried about the whole "unhooking cars" thing would be rather anticlimactic. Oh well.
Thanks a ton and good luck to you too!
Pretty fun game! The art is nice, the sounds are good. Bug report: if you die and there's 2 bandits close to you, you will get stuck on the dying animation because they won't stop shooting. But overall great game!
Thanks for playing and for kind words!
Of course somebody had to find a silly bug :) I've spent last few hours trying to catch any such game-breaking issues, and there you are - coming up with a bug report 5 minutes after submissions ended, that is just my luck :D
